The ending was not felt like a movie ending , hoping to see more . Also at some point the backstories were kind of not very emotional.

How did they even manage to generate such nonsense?!
Honestly, it's impressive how badly they managed to screw this up. Just wow. It needs some special type of skill to combine such a well-loved novel and such amazing actors with such budget and then produce this garbage out of it.Like, did the producers look at the success of Solo Leveling anime, at its amazing adaptation that was like a love letter to the fans due to how faithful it was to the source, and they thought "yeahhh! Let's completely change the story, put our foot on it, and completley crush it until nothing remains! That's definitely what ORV fans want!!!"
How is this even possible?? How could ANY sane person agree to this bs? Are you SERIOUSLY telling me that multiple REAL humans sat next to each other, looked at the success of Solo Leveling, thought about how they could copy it, and THIS was the final result??? HOW?
Seriously, how?
This movie is impressive. It really it. Just for the wrong reasons.

Not true to the Original Story
There are definitely aspects of this movie that hold true to the original webtoon, however as you get further into the movie you can see where it starts to drift away or reduce parts of the original webtoon.I actually believe this would have been more liked if the story was made into a kdrama instead of a kmovie. The original story is so complicated and detailed that the drag of a long kdrama would have given some justice than the fast pace of the movie in my opinion.
What really bothers me though is the CGI in this film. You can tell where they put the most effort and practically gave up with the other designs.
If you are going to watch this movie, watch without thinking about the webtoon or just read the webtoon because it is 100% more worth your time.

This movie should not be called an adaptation.
Absolute garbage of an adaptation. The fanfics writers can write a better adaptation script than whatever this production's writers did. I can list so many things that is wrong with this movie and English is not even my first language.First of all - the adaptation itself. Rather than calling this an adaptation, this should be labelled as inspired by ORV. The characters are OOC and the world building isn't even the same. Where's the constellations? Where's my Uriel?! What's the point of the star stream with just dokkaebis and no sponsors?? The dokkaebis doesn't even appear much, minds you. I've read that someone said that this is literally alien train to Busan and I couldn't agree more.
Second of all - the actors itself. No shade for the actors but damn the lines sounds soulless. Maybe it's the problem from the script itself so that's not really their fault. But you can definitely see that most of the budgets went to hiring the cast instead. I rather they hire unknown actors to save the budgets and focus more on improving everything else when making this.
Lastly - the CGI. Oh my god, I thought it was AI at first. It was that bad. Though, I will blame it on the budget because I know that the VFX artists didn't get enough pay to do this shit. Although, if I don't know this is an adaptation, I would watch this garbage based on the action/fantasy/apocalypse genre alone. Yeah, I am that starved but you can see how much of a slop this adaptation is.
Well, that's all I can think of when writing this. I think I have more but as I write, the rage makes me forgot the contents that I want to add here. Thanks for reading my ranting and I think if you bothered to read all of this, maybe you should read the original ORV novel or manga instead of watching this movie. Unless you don't mind horrible storyline and massive amounts of plot holes (and all that I complained above) then it's your poison. hands-up.jpg

trash
so is it cancelled? i hope it is. if they keep doing adaptions on our beloved web noels that would just ruin our entire imagination about it. i hope that whoever wanted to do an adaptation on webnovels would be more careful next time knowing that there are millions or thousands of people who's imagination are already set. i hope that they are forced to cancel it and to gie us justice change the entire cast and director to someone who likes orv by heart knowing how passionate the fans are and takes good care of the novel. Was this review helpful to you?
One hundred percent loved it.
I watched this movie recently and I absolutely loved it. Ahn Hyo-Seop and Lee Min-ho ate their roles down. I also loved Jisoo in this, she's really coming into her own as an actress. Generally speaking, plot and story-wise, I one percent loved it. The only thing I would say is it's flaws is the CGI. It's not bad but it needs much more work. General rating, 8.7 out of 10. I really really hope there's a part 2.Was this review helpful to you?
Cast = stars. Story = rushed.
I haven't read the book or comics or whatever this is from. I'm not an upset Jisoo stan or purest. I enjoyed the movie for what it was. A solid B+.I feel like it could've been a mini series. I was only invested in the characters because they are famous actors. I enjoyed the idea of the story, just wish it was told better and given more space to grow. I'm definitely going to watch again because movies and shows aren't good right now. If this came out last year it'd be a low B to a C+.
Great acting as you'd expect from this type of A list cast. Highly recommend if you are a fan of fantasy type movies.

"Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy" is a must-watch
"Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy" explodes onto the screen with a thrilling mix of mind-bending storytelling and emotional weight, adapted brilliantly from the beloved webnovel. Set in a post-apocalyptic world where reality mirrors a web novel, the story follows Dokja—an ordinary reader—who suddenly becomes the sole person who knows the full plot of the unfolding world-destroying scenario. The film balances high-stakes action and deep character development. Each scene keeps you at the edge of your seat, while layered themes of survival, sacrifice, and the blurred line between fiction and fate pull you in further. The visuals are stunning, the pacing is tight, and the writing does justice to the source material.
Ahn Hyo‑seop anchors the story as the emotionally conflicted reader-prophet with subtle strength.
Lee Min‑ho makes his much-anticipated cinematic return with a layered and commanding presence.
Chae Soo‑bin portrays Sang‑ah’s metamorphosis with grace and quiet power.
Shin Seung‑ho offers grounded sincerity as the group’s protector.
Nana embodies righteous defiance in Jung Hee‑won, making her warrior quietly unforgettable.
Kwon Eun‑seong touches the heart as the boy with hidden strength.
Park Ho‑san and Choi Young‑joon elevate the film’s tension through their commanding antagonistic roles.
As for Jisoo, she absolutely shines in her role, bringing fierce intensity and subtle emotional nuance to her character. She’s not just captivating—she owns every frame she’s in. Jisoo’s performance adds a grounded humanity amidst all the chaos, and her ability to convey strength and vulnerability simultaneously is nothing short of phenomenal. It's clear she’s evolving into a top-tier actress, and this role cements her as a powerful presence in both K-drama and film.

Atrocious in all aspects
Honestly speaking, giving this a rating of 1 sounds like a disrespect. Wish we all could give it a negative rating but we sadly can't. I could conjure up countless words just to express how atrocious and abysmal this movie is in terms of it's execution, overall narrative and how much it deviates from source material. But fellow novel fans have written it as well. Was this review helpful to you?

Omniscient Reader: The Apocalypse Turned Into a Videogame
I didn’t read the webtoon, and I don’t plan to. Because cinema should be judged by coherence, not by faithfulness. The movie starts with a strong premise: a reader trapped in his favorite novel, forced to survive in a world ruled by the story’s own logic. Sounds great, until the script turns into a nonstop video game — coins, upgrades, items, levels, power rankings. What could’ve been a philosophical apocalypse becomes a Battle Royale with a PlayStation menu.
The first test —“kill a living organism”— sums it all up: a moral dilemma turned into a survival circus. Within seconds, people go from outrage to fighting over an ant, exposing the core message: the end of the world doesn’t destroy us; it reveals who we are. Too bad the film loses that sharpness under forced moral speeches, where even as the subway collapses, there’s still time for life lessons. The script confuses urgency with sermon.
Visually, the chaos of the first act works. The subway sequence has tension and direction. But as the “scenarios” progress, Omniscient Reader turns into a blend of Jumanji and Godzilla, with monsters, portals, and anime-like sword fights straight out of Sword Art Online. What began as social commentary ends up as a cosmic arcade.
Ahn Hyo-seop struggles to carry the film. His Dokja shifts from introspective reader to generic hero without emotional bridge. Surprisingly, Jisoo is not that bad. I used to say she wasn’t an actress at all… but I was wrong. Jisoo should play cynical, morally ambiguous, or emotionally distant roles —modern femme fatales— and forget about angelic or “good girl in the apocalypse” types. That’s her real strength. I actually liked her character this time.
Critics tore her apart, mostly out of prejudice, not real analysis. They attacked her since the casting, as if being an idol automatically disqualified her from acting, without even asking if the role suited her. Ironically, many less-prepared idol actresses get praised just because of their name or fandom. With Jisoo, the scrutiny was triple: if she smiled, “she overacted”; if she stayed still, “she lacked emotion.” But here, her restraint makes sense —this character doesn’t need sweetness, it needs presence. In fact, Genie, Make a Wish might have fit Jisoo better than Suzy. Jisoo’s emotional distance feels natural; Suzy’s looks forced.
And yes, Omniscient Reader: The Prophecy ends up exactly that: a Frankenstein of Ready Player One, Sword Art Online, and every trendy shonen, but with none of their coherence or charm. Visually striking, emotionally hollow —a digital wasteland mistaking spectacle for substance.

Could the Negative Reviews Be Wrong??
I came to say check out the line-up of Korean A listers, but the reviews have me scared to even attempt watching this, but since I love to binge watch, I will wait until more eps air. I will have my ear to the plow to see if Ahn Hyeo Seop and Ee MInho are enough to garner enough (positive) buzz for this drama....Was this review helpful to you?
