It's complicated.

The plot twist is nice, and there wasn't a part of the 2 hours that was boring. It got everybody to feel all sorts of feelings throughout the movie. It was a bummer that one of the hottest cast wasn't the main, but it was overall a good story. Does have a little bit of violence but not as much to a point where you can't handle. It was really complicated. However, it was one of the best movies I've watched at the theatres. There were lots of ups and downs and the thing about the movie is that it shows a lot of action before they move onto the storyline. Like most of the storyline ended up being explained near the end, whilst the whole movie is just about someone making difficult decisions throughout it. It was also really fun because it was literally about 4 people, and then all these really famous people just being in the movie in and out a bit. Overall, great movie love it! REALLY recommend!

the cast and the acting was great!

Decibel is a sound terror action film that revolves around a bomb designer who wants to occupy the city center with a special bomb that explodes when the noise increases and a former naval deputy commander who becomes his target.

the combination of the great actors was awesome everyone was good.
KRW, JSH, CEW, and of course my dear LJS.(the main and the supporting cast are great)
lee jong suk as a villain is so damn good. same as BM liked the challenge he took for himself and hopes to see it more in the future.
the plot wasn't boring but the storyline felt ordinary, not particular. don't hope for something special well my main reason to watch was LJS and I enjoyed seeing him!

it was okay…

I felt compelled to write this review since I saw so many good ones, and I kind of want to bring in a different perspective, and also see if anyone thinks the same as me.
I’ll start with the good parts:
The cast and the acting were spectacular! Honestly it was amazing… the emotion and everything was *chefs kiss*’
Now for the rest of it:
The story… I honestly didn’t find it that good at all. It got kind of good near the end, but the rest of it was a confusing mess to me.
The whole bomb thing was almost useless in my opinion. I can see where they were going with it, but I feel like they should have gone in a different direction with that. If they had focused more on the crew in the submarine rather than the main character just chasing bombs for half of the movie, then it would have been a 10/10 for me. Since most of the movie was just that, however, I was unable to grow any sort of attachment for the characters. I wish we could have gotten to know the crew a lot better than we did, but we only got glimpses of them throughout the movie and at the end.
To add to this, there was a fine line between the villains and the heroes in this show. This may have been on purpose, but then again, there wouldn’t have to be heroes and villains if the whole bomb thing didn’t happen, which would have been better in my opinion.
Instead of this whole hero/villain thriller stuff that was going on, I wish it could have been a different kind of thriller that focused more on the crew members in the submarine themselves. I don’t want to spoil the movie by giving away what I would have liked the plot to be about, so I’ll leave it here :)
And before all of the people who really liked this movie come after me, I know that the premise of the show was supposed to be about the bombs (hence the name “decibel”), but I do wish that they had done things differently (I am glad you guys were able to enjoy it though :)
So for me, this movie had some insane missed potential, and I just wish I could have loved it more :(

Murky line between the hero and villain

Great suspense from the start as the bomb threat started to activate right away and time is tickling down, but it took quite long for the grand reveal to uncover, and the reasoning behind the threat is a bit ridiculous to be honest. However, the way they murk the line between the hero and villain is pretty respectable, the intention of the villain is one that is easy to symphatize with, just as they faced with the biggest question on humanity, that right there is the whole vision the movie aims to present.

The acting here...waaah

Waiting this movie since day 1 😌 The combination of the actors is amazing. I can't believe I get to see Lee Jongsuk, Cha Eunwoo, Kim raewon, and Lee Minki in one screen. Maybe I have to highlight Lee Jongsuk's acting here. I really like him OMG like...uwaah 😲 the genre of Lee Jongsuk being the villain is forever tattooed in my heart. I also like the story that is really easy to understand. It is not that kind of full-of-theory movie. So, I really enjoy it. Sadly, Lee Minki got little lines 😔 I really want to see him more though

Tissue Warning should have been issued

I was excited to see this as two of my favorite actors were in it: Cha Eun Woo and Lee Jung Suk. Both really flexed their acting muscles as this story was outside their normal genres.

The story itself was incredible. I went into it expecting it to be like the US movie Speed; instead of going over 55 mph now the bombs were set to go off if they reached a predetermined Decibel level. While the last part was true, there was a very distinct reason and not just random, wanton destruction because someone is mad. The story moves along quickly, not a dull or slow moment. It is heartbreaking. This aspect I wasn't expecting so I warn others. Tissues are needed. Halfway through is when all the threads get pulled together. You gasp and then hold your breath as the realization dawns on you as to what is going on.

This movie was extremely well done. Nothing over the top as far as violence, stunts or special effects. They fit the scenes and what was needed. The music chosen worked, just didn't really catch my attention as far as OSTs go but wasn't horrible. This is one I will re-watch multiple times to catch the subtle clues that were dropped earlier that were missed due to subtitle reading.

A movie more emotional than expected.

I won't go into details but it was a good movie overall. I liked the production even though nothing was ground-breaking, and I must say that I followed the action and the intense moments with a bored eye.

I think what makes it a good movie is the acting of Lee Jong Suk and Cha Eun Woo, who play brothers in it. Without their relationship, the tragic choices and impacts due to it, I wouldn't have been so engaged. Their story really elevates the plot, I went from pretty bored to crying in minutes.

So, I would say, the movie is pretty basic, not really something that we haven't before, but it's the emotion and the acting of certain characters that did it all.

I do recommend, first for Cha Eun Woo fans where he shows his potential for more tragic and complex scripts in the future, and overall Lee Jong Suk's performance is top-notch as always.

Too bad the storytelling around the stakes and the editing hindered my enjoyement

I was quite disappointed by this action movie. More specifically because the most interesting aspect of the plot (with the submarine scenes, all involving a deep and gutwrenching psychological aspect) is only coming up past the 2/3 of the movie. I'm left to wonder if I would not have appreciated much more the film if it had been edited in another way around rather than creating a false suspense regarding the identity of the antagonist.

The performance of the casting was overall good but not stellar. At the end, surprisingly enough, it is two of the guest roles (played by Cha Eun Woo and Lee Min Ki) that grabbed the most my attention. I wish that Lee Jong Suk would have been given a bit more room to shine and do more in terms of dialog as well as characterization. Once again, maybe a different edit of the story would have allowed to have much more powerful stakes for the story.

Regarding the production value, it was pretty good. There are some rather thrilling action sequences and good ideas in terms of directing. There are a lof of variety in the dangerous situations faced by the main protagonists. The soundtrack is quite absent from the movie, not that memorable but there is a pretty sorrowful that I enjoyed during the ending generic.

I would not necessarily recommend this to people as I did not particularily enjoyed my watch. My main issue with the film is coming from the scenario and the way the story is building up the characters. I did not manage to engage with the main roles and in an action movie, rooting for the good guys and understanding from where they are coming from is critical to really get me invested and care about the story. Here, I started to care much too late and felt that the 2/3 of the movie was not as exciting as I would have wished.

Carry your tissues everytime you watch this movie

The action and emotional depth of "Decibel" are both excellent for an action thriller. This film is a must-see for aficionados of the genre because of its skillfully developed characters, complex plot, and exciting action scenes.
The action-packed opening scene of the movie establishes the mood for the rest of the picture. The movie's strengths are its frantic, heart-pounding action sequences, which also feature excellent stunt work and special effects. The film also demonstrated how PTSD affects soldiers.
I saw the movie a few times, and although knowing what would happen, each time brought tears to my eyes. LJS's acting was outstanding. Every time they had a scene, his eyes would also show how much he loved his brother. I was devastated by the melancholy and breakdown he had in the submarine. Eunwoo's acting was exceptional despite the fact that he got fewer scenes.Raewon, the chief, made a difficult but necessary decision that, in my opinion, transformed his life, and this is basically how the tale was focused on him. How LJS lost his brother as a result of the choice of leaving some of his teammates due to a shortage of air LJS then targeted Raewon and his family as retaliation. The bombing scenes caused my heart to tighten.I thought the film was fantastic overall, and I left the theatre with bowled-over eyes.

Let's live, Let's Love and hope you enjoy your time by doing what you love 🫶

Great action, acting, and story. Deserves more love and more viewers

Decibel is a fast-paced and gripping bombing flick that has a bit more depth than other action movies I've watched. The casting is great and everyone's acting was on point. Lee Jong Suk delivered well the emotions needed and Cha Eun Woo improved by leaps (since I last saw him on True Beauty). There are several cameos too. I'm being vague on purpose to avoid spoilers or overblown expectations.

This is ultimately Kim Rae Won's movie and he's in his element here. As an important side note, he looked nice in his white navy uniform and apparently all the stunts in the movie were done by him. Fantastic as always!

I hope this gets streamed on Netflix or some other global platform. It deserves to reach a wider audience.

threading on the fine line between heros and villains.

story: the first half of the story was really messy tbvh. i still haven't figured out what importance did the reporter's role had seeing the ml says "i can't do this without u". the 2nd half however was comparatively good. there were a lot of “how's” tho, like how'd the bombs get where they did cuz he was working alone (ik he has an 170 IQ but still) why sound-triggered bombs? etc etc. action scenes were okay-ish could've been better. overall story isn't that astonishing but more emotional due to the brothers. i know it's weird but if lives weren't cost, if sympathize with the villain too.

acting: very well performed by the actors esp LJS & CEW. you can feel their pain, LJS’ desperation, anger and agony thru the screen. a lot of people say eunwoo cannot act but I'd say he acts really really well he's just stereotyped into the "idols cannot be good actors" belief, he even proves his versatility in this one. and Lee Jongsuk as a villain is *chefs kiss*. their roles really carried.

music: not too special, infact not even noticeable till the ending credits.

rewatch: I'd mostly not rewatch, if i did I'd directly skip to the 2nd half.

overall: nothing special, carried by the actors I'd leave it halfway if it wasn't for them.
