GOODDDD
I started the series with a lot of excitement since there were two elements that I LOVE: Nam Joohyuk ofc lol and the fact that it's an action/crime series. To be honest the first part was so good but I don't know about the second part... I got a little lost, maybe it was my fault but I think I would have preferred a different dynamic between the characters.
It was DEFINITELY too short but apparently there will be a sequel AND THIS IS GOOD, I CAN'T WAIT.
Nam Joohyuk's acting gave me goosebumps and it's not the first time, I hope to see him again soon (we miss you <3)
Overall I really recommend it!

Started of strong but fell flat
I am hooked by korean thrillers ever since I watched Beyond Evil and one day, I came across Vigilante. Since I am a huge fan of stories that explore the matter of justice vs self-appointed law enforce, I decided to watch it, especially since I had seen some people calling it underrated. While I overall enjoyed the series, I think that there was room for more developement. I am aware of the fact that it's based on a webtoon and since I haven't read it, I will assume that it was overal a faithful adaptation.
The plot was interesting, I liked the exploration of corruption, abuse of power and the fight for justice. It's just that even though it was quite short, it dragged, especially towards the end. The first episodes were the best imo and I think the series should have focused more in the moral battle of law vs taking the matters in your own hands. I would have loved to see more psychological battles between the characters, especially between Jiyong and Heon. The first episodes focused more on the psychological and ethical aspects while the rest focused more on the action. Which was not bad but it didn't allow the series to go more into depth about its themes. Plus, the fights in the last episodes were kinda funny, the plot armor was going crazy for the main characters. So many thugs and no one could beat them?
The characters were interesting but I believe that some of them could have been explored more. Jiyong was definitely the most fleshed out character and I would have loved to see more of his battle between bad vs evil. Jo heon was fun and cool and I liked his dialogues with Jiyong. However, I felt like I desired more once I finished the series, yes, we got to see him reconsider his own believes which was good but I think he came across as a little bit one dimensional at times and the series relied a lot on the gimmick about his size and power. Still a very cool character though. As for the rest, I really liked Choi Mi Ryeo, she was such a badass and I found her to be quite complex in terms of actions and believes. Gang-ok was actually quite fun, he was such a fanboy for Vigilante and his obsesion with Jiyong was just so hilarious, one sided toxic yaoi at its finest.
The acting was really good, especially Nam Joo-hyuk's and the ending, albeit frustating, was pretty much realistic. Overall, I liked the series, it's just that I think it had potential to become something more. As I mentioned above, if it followed the plot of the webtoon, I will understand the lack of exploration on some of the themes but they could have done something more to fully flesh them out. I also believe but for a series that tackled many interesting topics, it should have been longer, say 10+ episodes.

Good Enough
Korean Drama '' Vigilante '' is a webtoon-based action drama. The theme of the drama is quite interesting, and there are a lot of crime cases that are dark and intense. The antihero twist was also nicely handled, and the performances of the main leads were strong enough to support the plot.
However, the drama suffered from its short length. Halfway through, things started getting rushed and the story didn't develop as smoothly as it should. At least the action scenes were enjoyable.
So, overall, six out of ten for the Korean Drama '' Vigilante ''.

Could have been far better!
The story of a dark hero leading a dual life fighting for justice has always been a popular one. Most of us have grown up watching the likes of Batman. Now we are presented with a Korean webtoon adaptation of the dark hero character called Vigilante who fights crime in the shadows and doesn't mind to kill. But the story doesn't seem much appeasing as the events could be predicted pretty easily from the early parts of the story. The life of the connected characters' and how they ended up where they were at that point in time should've been better flushed out. Instead all we get is just simple brooding MC and his vigilantism activities. But the funny thing is that the MC doesn't even bother covering his face in a well CCTV connected country like South Korea and he gets away with it every time.
Hope the next season, if it happens, have a decent storyline and better flushed out characters.
Here hoping and even with all its faults I have to admit this really was a good one time watch.

Vigilante ,a must watch series.
Vigilante is about Kim Ji-yong, a police student who secretly punishes criminals who escape the law. His own mother's killer did t get real punishment, so he takes justice into his own hands. Every weekend, he catches these criminals and beats them up, becoming a mystery hero people talk about and also admire. In the end, he faces people with power and gets tangled up with them, which helps him in the corruption of his own country. The acting of Nam Joo-hyuk adds more vibrancy to this drama, making it a must-watch series. Was this review helpful to you?

the judgement begins after the law ends..
i can finally understand why so many people recommended it .. had been planning to watch it for a long time and after finishing it ill say it was definitely worth the watchfirst of all.. if youre looking for action then bro... this drama DELIVERS!!! pure action pure thrill... from the very beginning it keeps moving and rarely gives you time to breathe. .. the fight scenes tension chase between different sides .. all of it keeps you engaged
what i appreciated most.. however wasnt the action.. it was the message
it does a great job showing how justice and law are not always the same thing... showcasing how power influence n status affect the system .. how sometimes people who deserve punishment are the ones most protected by it
lken the drama doesnt paint everyone as corrupt... also reminds us that there are still people trying to do the right thing and maybe thats the reason the system hasnt collapsed completely
this balance.. i really loved
talking about the flaws.. yea there are some.. certain parts of the plot feel a little convenient n some situations could have been explored more deeply... but overall they werent enough to ruin the experience for me
only thing I struggled with was the ending... not bcz it was badly written.. bcz it felt painfully realistic
without spoiling anything ...ending leaves you with the uncomfortable feeling that truth and recognition dont always go to people who deserve them...sometimes the wrong people walk away with their image intact, while others pay the price
and honestly.. that felt like a direct slap to the face of how systems sometimes work in real life
that one finla moment when kim ji young didnt took the oath.. gave me some what of a strange satisfaction.. it wasnt a happy ending but it felt true to the character and to overall plot of the drama

I’m being as generous as I can; it’d have been a 10 last year and my easy 10s but it was my 2023 resolution to stop thatSo basically, nam joohyuk was a 100/10, acting, character fit, handsomeness and oozing gorgeousness
Ahjussi oppa as well did great
The shortcomings for me is the “bad guys” and the lack of overall deep buildup
It had Bloodhounds vibes but it also lacked in making up for the shortcomings, ie bromance and more character drive
It was certainly rushed, and I do have an add on filter when bad guys chitchat and nag so they made zero impact on me
Maybe it needed a bit more victim drive, ie the sadness, tension and anger of victims
Something to add a touch of humanity
Bad guys are crazy trash but wanting to punish them deprives the human connection
People need sympathy, kindness otherwise the vigilantes are just psychopaths hidden under a hero cape
Hot psychopaths but still. Also not at iPhone for turning hot into not, it must think im crazy to use hot and psychopath in the same sentence

I honestly really liked this show it was really good. I didn't like really like the ending though, was a bit sad about it. I would honestly recommend this to someone if they liked this type of genre like I do. During the show I wondered how Kang-Ok figured out that Ji-yong was vigilante. I think the actors did a pretty good job. I loved kang ok and how he was so obsessive. This has a good performance. Was this review helpful to you?
We got an satisfactory ending!!
This is going to be a short and sweet tidbit since I am fresh off finishing the show. After having a nice buildup of plot, characters, and suspense, I for sure thought we were going to get a terrible cliffhanger ending that would never get a second season. Plus, as someone who hasn't (and doesn't really plan to) read the webtoon - it would be a very anti-climatic and disappointing end to the 8 episodes.
BUT.
All I'm saying in this review is that we got a conclusion, we. got. a. conclusion. A good one, a satisfactory one, and one that does leave room for expanding. (If they so please to do).
I loved the action, the blood, and the personalities of the characters. Especially the fact that everyone was really consistent in the way they acted, not that they don't have character development, but that their actions stayed in line and made sense as t what their character was built up to be.
Do give it a watch, if you like this kind of genre - happy watching people :)

The acting was insane. I love it!
This will be put next to "My name".Kim So-Jin did an excellent job portraying Choi Mi-Ryeo and Lee Joon-Hyuk portrayed Cho Kang Ok. Their talent is brilliant.
I fell in love with Joo Hyuk Nam in "25,21", where he did an amazing job. In this role, where Kim Ji-Yong was so different from Baek I-Jin, we could see how talented he could be.
And Yoo Ji-Tae as Cho He-on, GOD, brilliant.
The fight scenes were insane.
I'm going to leave my favorite lines from each episode here.
Ep. 1:
"I think it's because many criminals think they were caught because of the victims. It seems they blamed the victim, rationalize their behavior, and commit crimes again."
"There is a void in the law. It is often lenient to bad guys who don't deserve this. Now I'll fill that void. This is justice."
Ep. 2:
"Heavens's net. I'm sorry. Forgive." Tao Te Ching
"Don't worry. This isn't the age of Arsene Lupin. The evidence will turn up. And he'll get caught eventually. I guarantee it. People will forget about the Vigilante. I will make sure of it."
Ep. 3:
"The one who breaks the law better than anyone else is being protected by it. The one who obeyed the law better than anyone else wasn't protected in any way. So I thought about it. I think some crimes can be punished by crimes."
Ep. 4:
"If the Vigilante is caught and it turns out he's a steady and righteous person, with a good job and a good reputation, and if he's even young and good-looking, the public will go wild. Beyond our control."
Ep. 5:
The "battle" between The Vigilante and Cho Heon was amazing. There are so many good lines.
"People like you become monsters eventually."
"And that's why I feel sorry for you. [...] If you slightly change direction, you could become such a great police officer."
Ep. 6: "I don't care what the world calls me! Because this is my calling. The calling that's perfect for me, because I have nothing to lose! It to become a devil to kill other devils."
"Don't just talk about it and show me that the law won't let them have their way and will punish them! Show me your justice really exists!"
What a great fight, Mr. Cho Heon.
Ep. 7:
"To prove himself a man beat his head against a wall and tried."
Ep. 8:
"I'll be live what you're doing... is the right thing."
Ahh, this scene broke my heart.
"Unclench your fists. This is what you accomplished. You don't need to prove it. Because the proposition was a lie.[...] Let the law punish him.[...] I'll prove to you that despite its inconsistencies, the law ultimately does what's right."
That being said: SESON 2?!
