Cutie Pie? More like a Hot Mess!!

First of all, whoever named the series "Cutie Pie" needs to be fired. This was not cute. It was a literal Hot Mess! Cute, is not knowing how to confess and running in circles because you just had your first kiss. Steamy is when you have sexy half-naked men hugging, kissing, and getting way too close to each other for more than half of all of the episodes that it's impossible for me to watch this series in front of my parents.

Now that I'd done making fun of the series, Cutie Pie wasn't too bad... If you don't really care for plot and are just looking for two hot guys that really need to get a room. The plot was all over the place, but it comes together by the end of the series. Until then though, it does feel like a slow burn with the characters always pushing each others buttons in a constant game of tug-of-war that lasts all 12 episodes.

~~ STORY ~~

Hia Lian and Kuea Keerati have been engaged with each other since they were children. Kuea come from a very old, prestigious and wealthy household while Hia Lian's family recently gained their wealth through their water bottle business. Both families have agreed that the two boys will marry when Kuea graduated college. Until then they have been going on weekly dates. Kuea is head over heels for Hia Lian. He loves playing drums, singing, and super cars, but in front of Hia Lian, he plays the good boy card.

One day Kuea asks Hia Lian if he loves him. The later replies "No," which saddens and angers Kuea to the point he calls off the engagement. Hia Lian says they cannot cancel their engagement and begins to pester Kuea.

Meanwhile, Kuea's best friend Khondiao, and Hia Lian's best friend Hia Yi also have problems of their own. Khondiao has been living at Hia Yi's mansion at the later's request, but lately Hia Yi is starting to get too over protective. They aren't even dating, yet Hia Yi's setting curfews for Khondiao to come home.

First of all, the premise of the story isn't bad. However, the first episode was hard to watch. It was really all over the place. It was like the director had so many ideas that were hastily crammed into the first episode. I promise, once you get through that first episode the rest of the series is a little more easy to watch.

That being said, the plot was still all over the place and the game of cat and mouse was really annoying because the couples didn't resolve anything until the last episode. Every time you think they would get together, they don't. Even that beautiful proposal was ruined because Kuea overthinks every little thing. These two have major communication issues!!

Also, as I said earlier, this series has a lot of steamy scenes.... Way too many if you consider that they are having steamy scenes yet they haven't even gotten together for more than half of the scenes.

HIA LIAN X KUEA

Kuea seems like a good boy that's trying to be a bad boy. Why is he hiding everything from Hia Lian? Hia Lian... I don't know what game he's playing. Both boys got along well as kids, yet as adults they suddenly are hiding secrets from each other? I don't buy it, especially if they have been going on dates every friday.

P.S. I really like Kuea and Hia Lian together towards the end of the series. They are cute together... But I think they really need to work on communication and not hiding secrets.

HIA YI X KHONDIAO

Hia Yi and Khondiao are... interesting. At first, I thought they were already dating, but it turns out they are not. Also, midway though the series Hia Yi and Khondiao start having issues with their living arrangement. It was sudden, but I wish it started more towards the beginning of the series. And again, like their best friends, this couple also has major communication issues.

NUER X SYN

These two need their own series. They were my favorite couple. They really brought out the "cutie pie" aspect of this series, where they rest of the couples fail at it. They couple also has my favorite kiss scene... possibly out of all the BLs I've seen. So cute and sweet.

Anyways, Nuer was brought in to seemly become Hia Lian's rival for Kuea's heart, but Nuer doesn't really act on it. Which I wish he did because it would have made the plot more interesting. However, I am content with Nuer immediately taking an interest in Syn's protectiveness of Kuea. I really liked Nuer from the moment he showed up on screen. Syn, however.... He made no real impact when he was first introduced, so it was surprising that he was also a minor lead.

~~ ACTING ~~
** Scratch that. The steamy scenes. **

Everything, including the acting, was overshadowed by the steamy scenes.

I already knew that since Zee was cast, he was going to have some steamy scenes, but I think they gave him too many. It really overshadowed the acting because once the steamy scenes start, it starts to feel like an adult video because Zee is that good at it. I really don't remember much of the acting because of it. Who was acting opposite of Zee again?

Also, another reason I really think Zee had too many steamy scenes, because when it was time for Max and Nat to have their steamy scene, I found myself comparing it to Zee's when I shouldn't be.

~~ OVERALL ~~

Cutie Pie isn't a bad watch. It's very steamy with little a chaotic plot, but it's fun to watch.

My favorites were the cameos in episode 7 and 12. The cameos were so random, but they were interesting. Episode 7 was funny since Prem and Boun suddenly show up and start playing Never Have I Ever with the couple with every little background on who these two are.

Anyways, I recommend watching Cutie Pie just for Nuer and Syn's kiss, Zee's steamy scenes, and Prem and Boun's cameo. The other parts of the series I couldn't care for.

dragged out

I was going to watch this when it came out, but I had no time, and now I do, so I am about to start watching this in a few minutes. Finished it. Hot take: I liked the scattered plotting, the credits rolling as I wrote this, and I liked every second of this and the randomness. I'd give it a 9/10 because they dragged it out over the last two episodes. I liked the acting; it was cool. I'm happy I finally watched this! There weren't many scenes in which I felt like genuinely hurting someone on the screen, which was also a plus. They definitely could have ended it on the 10th episode. They had no reason to drag it out just to do the same thing. It could have ended sooner for sure.

I don't know how to feel abt this

Arranged marriage is not my favourite trope, sometimes it could work out. I don't think it did this time. Kuea's love for Lian felt forced after the heartbreak he had over Hia "not loving him". I don't really see the " fell first but fell harder" on this one. Not gonna lie the plot was such a mess. Yi and Diao had so many unsolved problems and misunderstandings but always "solved" them by making out. However I am rooting for Zee and New and hoping their new roles in The Next Prince suit them more. I hope that drama will be better in general. I'm not saying Cutie Pie was trash but it wasn't the best. I can't ignore the fact that it was my introduction into Thai dramas so I cannot just talk shit about it. I think there would be many more ways to face difficulties as couples in many times of the series. I hope both pairs of actors work out better in other dramas. <3

ZeeNuNew is obviously one of the top BL couple's of all time! And the cutest couple in real life!

We got ZeeNuNew the cutest couple in the world, and the chemistry between Zee & NuNew is soooo good! For this to be NuNew's First ever BL am beyond shocked of how good he is at portraying the emotions of his character. And to have Zee to do all of this whit must be the best feeling ever! And me like everyone else who have watched Cutie Pie became a ZonZon fan. and might or might not be watching tooo many compilation's a day!

But let's just pretend that this couple dont just make us depreesed single people feel soo lonly and broke at the same time And if you have not watched heard of Cutie Pie 1&2 or Zee and NuNew idk where tf you have been or on what new undiscovered planet🌏 But you need to watch it if you haven't done so yet.

And yee i might have just been hyping this one up cuss i love it! So just watch it and make your own conclusion. And if you dont like it well to bad sunds like a you problem!

Very Good but could be improved.

5/10

Negative:

1. I would have liked to see a real lovescene, but unfortunately there wasn't one. It was not shown so much.
2. Kuea kept looking at Lian bit annoyed and kept saying his Name very often. That bothered me a lot. It was a bit too much!
3. That Lian has not said from the beginning that he knows that Kuea > Kirin is and that he has no problem with it then the proposal of Lian would not have gone in the pants and there would be no stress.
4. I wanted to see more of the other Couples (Lovescene, Kissing). I didn't think there was enough.

Positive.

1. I liked the Couple:-)
2. The Kissing of the Maincouple was very good with Passion.
3. Music
4. Story
5. Liked the other Couples.
6. Acting was really good
7. Many Kisses of the Maincouple. Thanks God!!

KISSING SCENES ARE HOT BUT NOT ENTICING

"Cutie Pie" isn't worthy to be titled as it is. Yes, Kuea is literally cute but his character doesn't show it entirely in the entire 12 episodes.

The story talks about the importance of love, trust and marriage. Love and trust must always be in harmony. Same-sex marriage isn't fully acknowledged by law in most countries in the world. In this series, Kuea doesn't want marriage without love. He also finds that love is hard to believe when trust isn't there. Lian, on the other side, isn't a romantic type of person. They are bound to marry someday but their meaning of marriage is different. Last of all, they both have secrets that they are keeping.

The story of two boys who got engaged at the very young age was really exciting at the early episodes but the flow miserably failed as the story goes further. There are too many skips to mention in the entire series. The kissing scenes are just like watching porn, no romantic value at all. THIS IS NOT THE ACTOR'S FAULT actually but how the story pushed them is what makes the scenes a skip. The scenes felt unnatural, missing the emotions of the viewers.

The actors and their acting are quite good though. I always have fun watching the Automotive Eng'g group. They should've been given more scenes.

Overall, this is an average drama. There are no relevant parts that would make this recommendable to my friends.

This is what I get for thinking Zee is really pretty

I will preface by saying that I'm not really a fan of mainstream Thai BL for multiple reasons, but watching "Why R U?" altered something in my brain and I might be terminally in love with Zee. Which was my main reason for watching "Cutie Pie".

Before you continue reading - yes I have watched the entire show (without skipping any scenes, though looking back I wish I would've skipped all the Yi\Khondiao scenes), but....... On 2x speed. After trying to power through the first episode "normally" I just couldn't bear it anymore. I have slowed down back to normal on the prominent Lian\Kuea scenes but other than that, my expectations were horrendously low so I didn't see a point in being properly invested in the show.

Now for the good parts:
- Acting! Nunew, who was in 90% of the scenes, did great with what he was given. Sometimes he was given really really bad stuff but he still managed to make it look as honest as possible and he gets huge kudos for that. He was never cringier than the script and I truly enjoyed watching him. Zee, my love, was great at what he does - being pretty and in love. He was always really pretty and he's exceptionally good at acting in love so he did not disappoint me in those areas.
- Chemistry! Needless to say, Zee\Nunew are great, and the supposed confirmed IRL nature of their relationship was also a convincing factor for me to watch the show. I get it! I truly get it.
- Some "progressive" parts, like a scolding for "are you angry because you're on your period" and the reccuring talk about the legal status of same-sex marriage in Thailand in a show centered around a (future) same-sex marriage. (Though the "love who you love" falls short when you realize that we're still kinda talking about an arranged marriage here. Also, the beginning\ending speeches were out of place to me and I feel like the show didn't actually get that point across at all. And as they say, actions speak louder than words so it was really unnecessary to me)
- The Boun\Prem cameo which reminded me I should check out "Between Us".
- The scene with "The cauliflower looks yummy" - "It's broccoli" - "I can't cook" - "It's okay". Peak cinema.

The bad parts:
- The plot? For the life of me could not explain to people what the show was about. Even the premise is a bit confusing. They're in an arranged engagement but they're childhood besties but they don't really talk more than once a week but they love each other but now one has decided that he doesn't and. Again I watched it on 2x speed and some episodes just had nothing happening in them which was a bit insane. Nothing really moved and nothing really changed and Lian\Kuea fought out of nowhere and reconciled really quickly every time and it was just. Unsatisfying. The last episode almost went into a really cute, IMO, direction, and then it was ruined again by the sameeeeeee dynamic, again. And it basically ended at the same place it started, but Now Kuea Wears A Leather Jacket In Front Of Lian.
- Everything about Yi\Khondiao, and just Yi in general. To say he's controlling is an understatement. Showing us how Khondiao is literally scared of him in certain scenes was supposed to make me what, coo at how "fiercely protective" Yi is? They didn't even explain their whole backstory properly, either letting me piece together the hints or just saving it all for the spinoff (which I'm not watching if it's the last show on earth). I hated their dynamic, I hated their acting, they don't have any chemistry and don't look good together. To think that some people believe this to be a normal relationship in any way is genuinely concerning to me. (I even hated every scene Yi and Lian had together because they just seemed like bad friends to each other)

The songs I simply did not care about so I don't have anything bad nor good to say about them. I also expected to like Syn\Nuer more but I didn't, mostly because it felt like it came out of nowhere. The comedy was also not funny to me most of the time. Just a lot of things about this show were very wattpad-y, in a bad way.

In short, would not suggest it to anyone unless they're insane about Zee Read More

So cute! Definitely rewatching

The chemistry in this series is off the charts. Plus, the production is amazing. It’s not the type of plot I’d usually go for, but somehow it won me over because it’s one of my favorite BLs! The underlying message of being yourself in a relationship is really deep and sweet. However, somewhere in the writing or editing, they made a misstep because the first episode, or first 2 or 3, were a bit confusing. It took finishing the series then rewatching later to figure out what the characters were thinking/feeling at the beginning. Still, I suggest you keep watching until the end. I’m eagerly waiting to see what else this director and ZeeNunew make in the future!

Cute But Messy

To start this fiasco, I'm gonna say I'm ZeeSaint all the way BUT ZeeNew was satisfying...in the romance department.
Anyway, other than the romance this was crazy toxic! Everything would be going smooth and something so simple would blow everything out of proportion and they'd start over (in the same episode) lmao. When it was cute it was super cheesy and sweet but when it was bad, it didn't take much to bring it down. I wanted more from the side couples but I'm pretty satisfied with what I got. I saw quite a few familiar faces and the new ones were just as cute :)
The rating I'm giving is strictly cause of the romance and visuals. I'd recommend if you want some dramatic romance, but if you're looking for something wholesome TURN BACK! I had a really hard time getting over the back and forth love hate bratty whiny attitude from specifically our MC.
The ending had me blushing and internally screaming!!!
Enjoy...

My favorite BL

This wasn't the first BL i've watched but it's the one that got me hooked.
The acting and chemistry between Zee and Nunew is unbelievably mind blowing. I loved everything about this show, from the sort of cringe typical storyline which I very much enjoyed to the perfect portrayal of the characters. This show was amazing, I would definitely recommend to watch it. This show is amazing and I honestly would give anything to watch this for the first time again. I'm really looking forward to more works like this which include Zee and Nunew, such an adorable pair! :)

Watch for the hot scenes

I rewatch this all the time for the kissing scenes between the leads, they did a really good job in casting and directing the leads, this saves the drama. as storyline goes it’s really nothing out of the ordinary. I would say even bad at times. All the so called challenges were resolved by the leads just simply sitting down and discussing the situation. Also the point of the show is that they are engaged since they were babies but same sex marriage in thailand is not legal, sooo yeah that doesn’t makes sense. Dont think about it and just watch de hot scenes,

yes, the plot is an absolute mess & objectively speaking, the show does not deserve a 9, and yet...

cutie pie is one of those shows that you inexplicably KNOW is objectively so-so, but you can't help but love it all the same because it's got so much heart and it's so lovingly made. my rating of the show is so totally biased because of me adoring it to bits lol, but i do still think it's a show that most can enjoy IF they go in with the right expectations:
the show is largely meant to be a fluffy romcom, so please watch it accordingly- expecting perfectly logical plot points and character motivations or developments is not the way to go about it <3 if that's not your thing, then please direct your attentions elsewhere!
if that does seem like the kinda thing you'd enjoy, though- if you want a bit of adorable, harmless fun and romance, then i suspect you'll enjoy cutie pie just alright!
