Meet My Angel Season 2 (2022)

Tough one to review

This is difficult, because the acting in this is really superlative - there are no weak players. All the performances are moving and powerful, and it did make me cry more than once.

But unfortunately, everything else is rather bad. The story is way too melodramatic and Mexican soap-opera-like, and it's way too preachy with it's themes - I mean, it literally has God telling people how to love each other. The first season showed - season 2 was all tell.

The technical aspects of this were even worse than season 1, with the dialog drowned out by music, roosters and other livestock, or just so faint it couldn't be heard, and whenever anyone was shouting, which was 90% of the time, the sound was badly distorted. All the scenes are too long and repetitive.

There's nothing notable or special about the music, and it got in the way, which is not good. As for rewatch value, I can't imagine ever watching this again, although I will definitely be all over God's instagram.

The suggested overall rating was 4.5, but I have to give it a 7 for the acting. This was really a missed opportunity, wasting the talents of perhaps the strongest cast ever assembled for a BL.

Despite minor flaws, one of the most beautiful BL series

In contrast to other reviewers here, I waited until the end of season 2 before I'm writing my review, and it is good I did, because the final three episodes revealed some unforeseen weaknesses of the script, which is one of the reasons why I can't give it full 10 points.

The story sets in where season 1 ended - both Angelo and Damon are angels now, and their obligation is to take care of their respective ex-lovers. So far, so good, so predictable. Unfortunately the explanation who harmed whom in their former lives contradicts season 1 in a major point: It was never mentioned that Damon was raped, and Angelo's guilt also contradicts the way he acted in season 1. Anyway - the message of the series remains the same: love is universal, and forgiveness is the key to happiness and a peaceful rest.

What makes this series so outstanding is the brilliant acting of the entire cast. Kaleb Ong once again deserves a prize for his performance, but all the others are really great, too. Miggy Campbell plays the drunk Anthony very convincingly, and if the Catholic church portrayed God as attractively as Peter Sotiangco, they wouldn't lose so many members.

The sound quality is a major flaw, especially in the most crucial and dramatic scenes when the yelling of the actors is so loud and distorted that it affects the atmosphere. The OST is very similar to season 1, with the return of Howie Day's "Collide".

There are rumours that actors were not paid in accordance with their contracts which were confirmed to me by one of the actors. This leaves an ugly stain on one of the most beautiful BL series of 2022.

A Nice Continuation From Season 1

There is so much to unpack in this series. Perhaps too much. It became overwhelming and at times sounded like sermons on the mount and preaching from the pulpit. The acting in this series is exceptional. A bit surprising, this series touched me deeply and profoundly. Its message of forgiveness and love is evident and overriding. It went with its message to forgive to places that almost bordered on being unforgiveable, but it makes you realize that if you want to be saved (however you want to define that term), you must learn to pardon not just with empty words but with complete sincerity that reaches to your deepest core. In other words, to your soul.

Yes, You who is checking reviews on this page trying to collect any insights regarding the series... this is for you.

First of all "Thank you for showing interest in Filipino series like this." As a Filipino myself I can never be more happy seeing the number of viewers of any Filipino produced series increase and is being made available to many.

Secondly, this review will not mention any scenes nor give any summaries which you can see in the series for sure if you'll watch it. Instead, I will be sharing my perspective as a Filipino regarding this series.

Lastly, this review might contain prejudice against the show - the cringe - when you see your kind being represented and the bias thoughts for being a Filipino but I'll try to be as objective as I can be.

CINEMATOGRAPHY:
Kind of so-so to me. Mainly because of the story and how the setting should bend to cope up with this kind of story. There are scenes that are really good, camera wise and the color grading, but there are are some that are barely passable. In my standard... remember the cringe? Because I have an idea of the capacity of the entertainment industry in my country when it comes to filming but I see improvements.

CASTING:
I'll give a good mark in this angle. Filipinos in general are somehow emotional people, in a good way, and this series portray some acting skills in this series. The main lead is not a neophyte in the industry. I've seen his previous works and I can attest that he is good. Filipinos are really good in drama. So good that almost all movies and series rotates in that aspect or will always have that ingredient in every production. Some scenes tend to be more wordy though.

MUSIC:
I am a lover of our original pinoy music (OPM) and this series never failed to showcase a good one.

STORYLINE:
This is the least thing that I like in this series. The story is so superficial which made me second guess if I should watch the series or not. But my "being so supportive" self convinced me to give it a try and ended up finishing it while dragging my feet in the process.

OVERALL:
The series is an edible dish if liken to a food. Not that delicious which will you remember even after your next meal and not too bad for you to spit it. It has some good parts and some opposite of it. There are also some unnecessary scenes but I'm not going to be stingy about it since there are only 9 episodes in this series.

If you are someone who is fine with this kind of story line then go for it. That's what can I say.

Don't be bothered with some of my opinion because as what I have said I got the "cringe feeling" watching it because it was produced by my fellowmen. And I can't disregard that feeling while watching it. On the other hand, I am happy and proud because of this series because slowly and surely people will come to like this kind of genre and will start to look at things like this as something ordinary.

This Series Deserves More.

After watching five episode today. I can say that this series is one of the Philippines Best Series ever.

The story was amazing
The actors are amazing
The Music was amazing

I am just wondering why this series is getting lesser viewership than those DIY Production from the Philippines, I am sorry but I can say that people from their cant really see what beauty and lesson is.

I hope that BL fan from the Philippines will see and support this series because this is a story that Filipino BL Fan should be proud of. Honestly this can be lined up to Tier 1 Series here in Thailand.

I wonder why this series is getting a lesser views

As an international fan, I always look for the story that will inspire me. After watching a clip from a group about the series I visited it in youtube and watching the first episode of Season 2, I told myself that I need to watch the Season 1 first. And after watching the full episodes for Season 1 I emmidiatelly watch the first 5 Episode of season 2 and I was like. What is wrong with BL Fan? How can you not see this, or notice this beautiful series.

Not to belittle the other series from the Phil. but this series has something to offer internationally. The story, The acting, the production could be enhance or develop, but the totality of this series is something that Phil. should be proud of.

I wish I can do something to solicit support from different part of the world to support this series because this is something that helps us to wave the BL Community.

I will recommend this series for its amazing storyline, actor powers of the actors, the writer of this Story was amazing.

BLESSING IN DISGUISE

I accidentally saw this series on Tiktok so I tried to search it here and I saw that it has 2 seasons already.

I love how the story goes on Season 1, the acting and the storyline is different from all the BL i've watched before. One thing I notice that needs improvement is the production, audio sometimes is uneven. But that was carried out by the amazing story and the acting power and also, the music, I can feel the nostalgic effect.

After watching the 5th episode of Second Season. My God that blown me away, this little freak Kevin killed Angelo to get the man he loves. Truly, Too much love can kill you or the other way around.

Second Season I can say that somewhat the production value improved, as is the acting was on point the newly added character add more spice on the story. The sceneries are crisp candy. I love it.

I am hooked so I highly recommend this series.

Ohhh one more thing I've noticed is that, why this series is not getting views? I mean, it's a beautiful story, unlike those other Filipino BL I've watched that I gradually dropped watching because of poor story telling.

What I am saying is that Im hoping that Filipino BL Fandom will help this series gain more attention than those just clinging to the bandwagon.

Maior plot twist da vida, o anjo assassino!

Se eu fiquei indecisa sobre o que falar na resenha da primeira temporada, sobre essa segunda então... eu não sabia que essa série tinha segunda temporada, vi por coincidência aqui no MDL e fui correndo procurar e vi tudo em uma tarde. Sinceramente estou muito surpresa com o rumo que as coisas tomaram, esse foi um plot twist de respeito!

Roteiro: Cara, sei nem o que dizer sobre essa história pq ainda estou sob o impacto da revelação. O roteirista dessa série, apesar dos erros, merece um prêmio! Damon virou anjo e achou que ia para o céu com Ângelo viver apenas passeando sobre as nuvens, também era o que Angelo esperava. Cada um ir cuidar do ex do outro sem saber disso imediatamente, já me deixou de orelha em pé, mas nem nas minhas teorias mais loucas eu iria imaginar que Angêlo foi o causador da morte de Damon. As outras informações sobre a teia que envolve eles, não tinha como eu prever mesmo, mas saber que Damon não contraiu o vírus do seu antigo namorado, e sim em um estupro coletivo encomendado por Angelo, que ainda era humano e ex namorado de Kevin, que estava ficando com Anthony, ex de Damon, me deixou em parafuso. Isso quando acabamos de ter a notícia de que foi Kevin que matou Angelo, num acidente de carro que ele encomendou, que não deveria ter terminado em morte.
Muita informação!!! Vamos lá.
1- Damon e Anthony namoravam e se amavam.
2- Kevin e Angelo namoravam, porém o namoro era meio que escondido, o que deixava Kevin em dúvidas sobre o sentimento de Angelo. Na verdade, Angelo o amava, mas por Kevin ser uma personalidade famosa, ele temia que assumir publicamente esse namoro seria
3- Os dois casais romperam (não entendi o motivo) ou pelo menos se afastaram
4- Estando os dois casais separados, Anthony acabou tendo um rolo com Kevin, porém o rolo não frutificou e cada um voltou para seu antigo amor
5- Quando soube desse "rolo", Angelo ameaçou Anthony de morte, bem como também mataria quem quer que Anthony amasse.
6- Quando Anthony sofreu essa ameaça, imediatamente terminou seu namoro com Damon, pois o amava muito e tinha medo de que ele se machucasse por causa dele.
7- Mesmo assim, Angelo descobriu a existência de Damon, e para se vingar contratou homens com HIV para estuprarem ele, imaginando que Damon seria infectado e transmitiria o vírus para Anthony.
8. Enquanto isso, Kevin não entendia pq Angelo não assumia o namoro pelo menos para a família e amigos próximos. Para força-lo a assumir, contratou bandidos para cortarem os freios do carro dele e causar um acidente. Na ideia brilhante dele, Angelo sofria o acidente e ia precisar assumir o namoro, para justificar o desespero que Kevin iria ficar, o gênio nem cogitou que acidentes também matam. O que ele não sabia, é que nessa noite Anthony iria contar para todos sobre o amor deles, inclusive já tinha comprado anel e tudo, mas antes de chegar ao evento onde se encontrariam, morre no acidente.
9. Enquanto isso, Damon descobre o vírus e acusa Anthony de ser o culpado, acaba o relacionamento e vai morar com o tio, numa depressão profunda, até morrer.
10. Quando Angelo, já morto e transformado em anjo (como assim??? encomenda um estupro coletivo e vira anjo, oi???) descobre que é o causador da doença de Damon e se transforma no anjo dele, até a morte dele, onde a temporada começa.
11. Enquanto cuida de Kevin, o anjo Damon descobre que ele é ex de Angelo, e Kevin implora para que ele arme um encontre dele com Angelo, pois tem algo a dizer. Nesse encontro, Kevin confessa o que fez, e Angelo confessa o que fez com Damon.
12. Ao mesmo tempo, Anthony, que está na casa do tio de Damon, consegue ver o anjo Damon e conta que o anjo Angelo foi o causador de tudo, mostrando provas. Os dois anjos rompem, Angelo se desespera por amar Damon, ate deus se mete na treta até que eles voltam e seus ex ficam juntos na Terra.

Pontos negativos (ou estranhos): A "humanização" dos anjos ficou muito fora da casinha. A atuação de todos foi impecável, sendo ainda melhor que na primeira temporada, porém, não pareciam com a imagem mental que o inconsciente coletivo tem dos anjos... namoravam, brigavam, tinham ciúmes, raiva, rancor, agressividade... humano demais! Foi isso que deixou a série interessante? Sim! Mas seria bom se tivesse uma explicação dentro da série para tanta coisa. Em um determinado ponto, os anjos só são vistos por seus protegidos, depois, literalmente DO NADA, todos parecem ter poderes de ver anjos sem nenhuma explicação para isso também. As falhas técnicas agora ficaram piores, quando vemos a cena da morte de Damon no ep especial (10) é possível perceber a falha na cor da camisa, ele morre com uma camisa amarela e já aparece com anjo de branco, porém em um determinado momento aparece o amarelo da camisa com que ele morreu, a maquiagem mal feita e muito carregada, perceptível a quilômetros, entre tantas coisas que poderiam ter sido resolvidas.

Enfim, não posso dizer que amei, não voltaria a assistir, porém não desencorajo quem deseja ver. Se deseja assistir, veja primeiro a temporada inicial senão nada fará sentido.
