3 BFFs
I chanced upon someone’s comment about this drama being very nice indeed and so, I decided that I’d give it a go. After all, it’s just 12 episodes and about 35 minutes per episode. I’m so glad I watched this! What I liked:
- the 3 girls were crazy but still very relatable
- the tight friendship amongst the three where they could count on one another
- friendship where their individuality is recognized and they don’t have to pretend to be someone else
- every episode deals with one thing and every episode feels complete
- slice of life drama which shows that life has up ups and down downs
- leads who are easy on the eyes
- story is fast-paced and actually, rather moving and even meaningful at times
- I was drawn into the show and really wanted to go on from episode to the next
What I didn’t like:
- nothing much other than Choi Si Won’s awful beard - thank goodness he shaved clean later on
Overall, I highly recommend this drama. It’s a slice-of-life fun ride of sorts which, despite some episodes being heavy (about death and serious illness), is a great watch! Watch it!!

Feel good Friendship drama
This drama is all about friendship between three friends and sharing each other's happiness, sadness, anger and embarrassment over lots of lots of drinks and food. This is a part mukbang part bromance drama with some romance sprinkled in between. The drama was fun to watch with lots of emotional and happy moments. It was refreshing and funny. The casts were great. The foods were great. And the context was great. It reminded me of college and all those time hanging out with friends.
As the title says it has a lots of soju and beer in this drama and a lot of eating food. It has three main characters and all three get their own background stories.
It was over all a good drama. Definitely worth the watch.

A story of 3 working women who enjoy Soju as their beloved husband
We, An Soo He, Han Ji Yeon, and Jeng Eun Ji take you, So Ju , to be my husband, and I do promise and covenant, before God and these witnesses, to be your loving and faithful wife in plenty and in want, in joy and in sorrow, in sickness and in health, as long as we shall live.
After the holy matrimony, they drink and eat every day after returning from work and live happily ever after.
FL-1 An Soo Hee, is a reality show writer who works with the eccentric PD ML-1 Kang Buk Gu. Their relationship is the story's main plot, which is nothing new but refreshing.
FL-2 Han Ji Yeon is a stunningly beautiful, light-headed, and overly optimistic yoga instructor.
FL-3 Jung Eun Ji is a tomboyish youtuber with a darker background than the others.
The characters are very close to fictional-manga-like types, which are extremely rare in real life but still make logical sense. The score would be 7 out of 10, with 1 being a very realistic character, such as one in Misaeng, and 10 being a fantasy character, such as one in Goblin. This is to be expected given that the show is based on a Webtoon.
I like how the story alternates between past and present for character development.
The materials are not new, but they keep you going and keep you watching.
In most cases, I'll give a 7 out of 10. But because I am an anime fan, these stories and characters appeal to me. I give it a 9 out of 10.

I Hope for Nothing, I Fear Nothing, I am Free
What a beautiful and lighthearted show! It's very easy to enjoy this show. This show is about three women in their 30s with a big personality difference: one is grumpy, one is somewhat dumb, and one is a workaholic. They all had their own problems. However drinking was always a solution for them as they said: "I drink when I'm happy, I drink when I'm sad, I drink when my friend's happy, I drink when my friend's sad."This show is able to cover multiple issues at one time including, workplace harrassment, sexual harrassment, over-controlling parents, grievance, LGBT, woman empowerment, and many more. It's also surprisingly succeed to stir the audience's emotion: from anger to joy to sadness. Some topics are heavy, some are funny, and others are heartwarming. First two episodes are heavy so you might need to hang on, and episodes 9-10 are extremely sad. The comedy is written in the absurd-ish style (similar style to Be Melodramatic). It's hilarious and enjoyable. It also highlights the beauty of friendship. What an amazing storywriting.
The main actresses successfully carried out the job to be the three women in the spotlight. Since this show is quite short, they sacrificed the backstory of characters. They actually had each, but it wasn't really deep. However, I don't see it as a big problem.
It's a great heartwarming show to watch. Also it's good to revisit this since it's quite lightweight.

Drinking buddies
Work Later, Drink Now (2021)What a wonderful surprise!
Likes
1. The first 3 episodes the girls were drinking so much, i felt drunk just watching them drink and drink and drink. Later on i got so used to them drinking i was numb, and even wanted to join their drinking binge. They drink not just because they love to drink, but it's also their way of coping with all the pressures and pleasures in life.
2. Episode 1 captures the 3 characters' personalities just through their drinking habits. And having #KimJiSuk cameo was perfect. Jiyeon is the crazy fun (embarrassing) friend and Sohee is the friend who always have work. It took some time for me to warm up to Jigoo because she is serious and silent but she's fierce and loyal and will be the first to protect you when needed.
3. I love their friendship! They have gone through so much, from heartbreaks, death, work issues, illness and they are always there for each other, no matter what happens or where they are. I would love to always have my fave bar where i can just spend the whole night chilling with my fave people.
4. I thought the story will be light and fun but their stories just got deeper and serious after each episode. Ep 9-10 were the saddest.
5. Choi Siwon as Kang Bukgu -just like Sohee, i think his character is disgusting but he's so soft, that you can't help but like him eventually. Now if only he stops being a jerk.
Dislikes
Not much. Each girl has their flaws, even Bukgoo, but then who is perfect? I want to see more of their stories in season 2! I hope we get more scenes with Mr. Nice paper. I think he's a sweet addition to the crazy group.

Concise
Dec. 8, 2021Work Later, Drink Now is a very interesting story filled with love, laughter, and problems about the truth about human life. I love how this show highlights many problems. All the characters in the show are lovely. Especially our lovely 3 female leads, they are such goals. Just because on how they unfold and show growth throughout the series. I really wish they have a sequel because I really am invested in the series. I feel like there are more things that the directors can do. So hoping for season 2!

Good drama that you can relate to.
This is a wonderful two-sided drama. Its humor and jokes made me laugh and the main heroines' life stories made me cry my eyes out. So Hee's, Ji Yeon's, and Ji Gu's happiness, love, daily life, loss, grief, and, most importantly, optimism are beautifully presented. Soundtracks, shooting angles, and after-effects added a special atmosphere. It all created a pleasant drama. I like it because I can relate to the main heroines. By the way, the wonderful acting of the actresses should be emphasized, they incredibly reproduced emotions. I highly recommend this drama! Was this review helpful to you?

Three co-dependent alcoholics in need of a good rehab program
ReviewRating 6.5/10. Having a lot of alcoholics in my life over the years and not being an alcoholic myself I did not find this funny or enjoyable. If you are into the party scene and don't mind watching three women who think partying and hanging out with their friends is the meaning of life you might like this. Depends on where you are at in life's journey. But, if you're looking for a feel-good recovery-type series or one about friends who are like family, I'm not sure this fits the bill, as I didn't find it very heartwarming at all. The only people I could see liking it are those who really embrace drinking culture and are okay with it being somewhat glorified. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, and I wouldn't watch it again myself.
Spoilers
All three women—An So-hee, Han Ji-yeon, and Kang Ji-gu—had serious alcohol problems, and there were points in the show when I thought they were going to have a turnaround and get their lives together, but that was wishful thinking. I had hopes when they all had separate health issues and were told to stop drinking, or when they went to the mountains, or even in the end when they started getting interested in having real relationships. But they never did. It felt like so many missed opportunities, and they would just go right back to alcohol. They weren't very nice people, really—in fact, most of the men that found their way into their lives left me wondering, "Why would you like her?" Kang Buk-gu, the guy who was with An So-hee (the writer), put up with so much from them, and he was so cute the way he took care of them. I thought maybe they would have a real romance, but in the end, I don't know if they were waiting for his dad (the one with dementia) to pass, but the whole friends-with-benefits thing seemed to ring true when I thought maybe he would say, "That's not what I meant—I want a real relationship with you." Then Kang Ji-gu (the one who ended up doing origami and working as a delivery girl because of her whole teaching thing where her student committed suicide) never went back to teaching, and she gets with Han U-ju, a guy who seems really sweet at first, but he's really kind of weird. He's some weird artsy dude, and they kinda had an autonomous life together. It's really strange. When the three friends broke up and had a big falling out—mainly because Han Ji-yeon (the yoga instructor) would always steal Kang Ji-gu's (the teacher's) boyfriends, and she justified it by saying basically, "If they would be with me, then they're not very loyal"—but in reality, I think she got a rush from being able to do it. I've known too many women that way to think she had other motives. Anyway, they finally reconcile, but they never talk any of that through, nor did she ever really apologize, so that was odd. To be angry enough to say it is the end of the friendship to move out/kick someone out and then what? You just cool off and blend back together like it was never a big deal? But the whole thing was that they had such a tight relationship that really, it didn't seem like there was room for anybody else. But it wasn't a healthy relationship — it was co-dependency and were they ever to decide to recover their best hope of having a lasting recovery would be to stay away from each other. Their entire interactions were made possible by alcohol. They said it themselves. You drink when it is a good day, you drink when it's a bad day, you drink when it's a regular day. That's the central aspect of what I really didn't like about it. It just felt like watching a bunch of alcoholics behaving badly. I think it was supposed to be a fun girl-party vibe, and you were supposed to think, "Wow, they're really living their lives and having fun," but it just seemed like a train wreck of a life to me, with a few alcoholics that really should've gotten treatment and help. The ending was the very weirdest—I mean, An So-hee (the writer) is falling, she makes a joke about "this might be how she dies," nobody really runs to try to help her, and then it just ends. You don't even see if she fell and got hurt, if she was seriously injured, or if she was just okay. It was the weirdest way to end a series. I did not completely hat the series, it was a very lukewarm thing for me, but there was nothing I could point to and say I really liked that. I was hoping I would get some payoff as I had to chase this show across multiple platforms. And watch a lot of repetitive advertisements to see both seasons. I haven't seen one quite as scattered as this one was. They would have a few episodes on one platform, then some episodes on another platform, so that parts of the season were on one and another part of the season was on another, and maybe even another portion was on yet another. So, I had to chase it across multiple platforms to even watch it, and I can tell you I did not feel like it was worth all of that trouble.

Drunk on Friendship
Work Later, Drink Now was such an unexpected comfort watch for me. I always appreciate a good show that doesn’t demand your full attention or emotional investment just to keep up. This drama is exactly that; easy, enjoyable, and surprisingly heartfelt. At its core, the show is a celebration of female friendship. It doesn’t try to dissect every facet of what friendships between women can be, nor does it dwell on the darker or more complicated sides. Instead, it focuses on the warmth, loyalty, and joy that come from having friends who are truly your chosen family. Normally, I might take issue with a drama avoiding the complexities, but with its short episode count, I think it was wise to highlight what it could portray best.
One of my favorite things is how the three women are fundamentally different. They don’t share similar interests, personalities, or life goals except for their love of drinking. That’s what brings them together, but it’s their genuine love for one another that keeps them together.
The friendship is everything. It’s the kind of bond that lasts a lifetime, the friends who become family, the ones you share your best and worst moments with, and still end up at the same table laughing and drinking together.
They’re strong and independent in their own ways, and the show lets them be messy, loud, rude, chaotic, vulnerable, and resilient; traits usually reserved for male characters. They drink, smoke, curse, fight, and have casual sex, and the story never shames them for it. Their sexuality, choices, and identities are treated with honesty and without judgement. They don’t have to be extraordinary; they’re allowed to just be.
I loved all three actresses. Jung Eun-ji and Han Sunhwa were perfect in their roles, and Lee Sun-bin, my first time watching her was a wonderful surprise.
The romances are handled with so much care too. No loud, alpha-male tropes here; just quiet, sincere men who stay in the background and yearn. Even better, the women’s relationships don’t define them; they simply add another layer to their lives.
Of course, the show isn’t without flaws. Some storylines feel like filler, lacking progression or resolution. Certain characters like the intern take up screen time without contributing much to the plot. But honestly, these are small issues and easy to overlook when everything else works so well.
Overall, Work Later, Drink Now is a fun, warm, and refreshing drama that celebrates women, friendship, and the freedom to live life unapologetically. I enjoyed every moment.

favourite show ever.
i ABSOLUTELYYYY adore this show so much🥹i originally watched it because jo yuri sang the ost “down” and i did not have high expectations but this show is SO good.
i love the vibes and setting of this show and each main character felt pretty 3 dimensional, they had parts of their life/personality that i resonated with a lot which made the show more sentimental
i also liked how romance also was not the main focus of this show but there were parts of it towards the end of s1
i would do anything to rewatch this show for the first time again😢😢

the life of Korean adults who work like crazy and relieve stress through drinking.
Yes, it's that simple, but also sometimes simplicity is what makes us happy. This show is bursting with true friendships and their own hardships. But how do we sail this stormy sea called life? Of course with someone who's on our team and who you can rely on. That's all, that's life and that is this show. Easy watch but will be memorable. Was this review helpful to you?
