Put things in to perspective, and pretty good, but not very entertaining and hard to rate.

I am confused, very confused... not so much about the movie itself, it is pretty straight forward though it does have some interesting twists and turns pretty good cinematography for a J movie, it is not too hard to follow the story-line. So why am i confused? Well I just do not know how I feel about the message in this movie, and about how they portray this issue. Part of me thinks that it has a really interesting take on this that we rarely see. It is not like they over simplify the issue in hand or something like that, I find myself liking and disliking it at once... and wanting them to dig deeper yet make it simpler at the same time. Yes I am contradicting myself here (that is my point).

What I do like is the people here, the side stories and the side characters seem to have made for a better story than the main one. The characters are relatable, not detestable, most are actually pretty sweet. Some may need a lesson or to in communication but the story would be pretty dull if everybody was perfect.

The entertainment value is not very high, but there are some scenes that may blow your mind and the quality to the production and story are high. And it does help put things in to perspective... In a lot of more or less subtle ways...

Honestly I could have rated this anything between a 6 and a 10 depending on what I focus on and the mood I am in.

It's Depends on your perspective on how you relate to it

I love that this drama will help you think right off the bat because of it's straightforward approach, but i think that the pacing is too fast at first. Like being interviewed immediately by an unknown person or entity.(but i guess it's necessary for a plot)
Most of the scene is from thai movie with the same title name but they change the characters and the sequence of scenes. Shiro is so jolly and completely different from Makoto which is perfect and nicely as expected from Nagao kento 1st movie debut as lead.
Lastly i hope that this drama will not encourage viewers to view life after watching this drama negatively. It's just that Makoto is just to overwhelmed by too much expectations or trials.
i hope that they learn that this is continuous daily fight until we end our longterm Homestay in a normal way of treating it.

Serious concept but no emotion

First of all the concept of the movie is pretty serious and giving it a low rating doesn't mean anybody takes it lightly. I don't know about the anime or manga from which it was adapted but I really didn't feel any emotions in this one. I didn't connect with any character. Acting wise it was okay...I guess...no one in particular from the main cast striked me as someone I would remember for long... however all the guardians in the movie were really good. I really don't know what kind of situation or pressure one goes through to even decide that this life is not worth living...but if I connect all that to this movie I didn't see anything that would make him take such a step. Or maybe they didn't show as much back story as it needed to connect to the viewers to understand and feel his pain for taking such measures. ML's family didn't look like a family in the first place. Everyone felt awkward around each other. Nobody really talked or behaved like a family member, no matter how estranged, there should be something to make the viewers believe that they were part of a family. Brother doesn't give a damn to explain anything or give more attention, spend more time or anything to ML even after the incident , yet he says he was there it was ML who didn't look. Except for his friend I don't think anyone felt close to ML and her role wasn't much to invest in either. You can give it a try but it was not my cup of tea. It felt it was missing the soul.

Different; engaging; surprising

Not at all what I was expecting. I thought it might be some kind of supernatural, light, action/mild horror, comedy. Apart from supernatural, it's none of those.
From the moment Shiro/Makoto wakes up from death, on a slab, in hospital, with no memory of any past events, the story is abruptly explained.
We are introduced to a Guardian, who tells Shiro he has died, now inhabits this body and to stay in it and get a second chance at life, he must find out why that person died too. He's given 100 days and 3 chances at answering the question.
The film then follows Shiro's journey as he gets to know the person behind the body he is inhabiting, and struggles to find out why he passed away.
He meets Makoto's disconnected family, a close friend and a crush.
School life is nondescript and it becomes apparent that Makoto was pretty much invisible, with a quiet, socially awkward and weak spirited personality.
Shiro is nothing like that and this is where the story faulters. Apart from 1 character (who still treats it like no big deal), no one seems the slightest bit surprised by the difference.
He's meant to have total memory loss, of which his family and close friend are aware, yet everyone still expects him to know stuff and the interactions don't fit at all.
Due to what Shiro was told about himself, by the Guardian, I also expected his character to be very different and that puzzled me for the whole film, until it was addressed towards the end. In that respect, the story's direction was not at all obvious and pretty engaging.
The outcome was quite a surprise. I think it's intended to make people think, take stock of themselves and their reality, especially when life gets dark.
I actually felt it was quite harsh and yet it offers another perspective that I've never seen before and perhaps when one's mind is not in a place of reason, a person could miss this themselves.
It isn't a film I'd watch again, but the charm and gentleness that Nagao Kento brought to the main character, and the nicely acted supporting roles, lead me to not regetting having watched it one bit.

The message of the film is heartwarming

Maybe because I really relate to Makoto but the story flows perfectly too, I felt all the emotions that Makoto felt and learned so much lessons from the film. It hits deep in me because I am exactly like Makoto before, though I overcome some bits of it as I grew older.

The concept of the soul called "Blank" seems to be quite confusing to me since the story never shows how the life of the soul that was assigned to Makoto looks like. It's a really interesting perspective to the viewers on how a completely different person (in this case, the new soul) would judge Makoto's life and understand his life objectively. Only thing that confuses me is the ending that says "Makoto is me" and how the Guardian would say that "decades later, you will be reincarnated as Makoto". This suggested that there would be elements of time travel in the story? And that the new soul is actually Makoto himself, just in the state where he had his confidence before?

I really wish they showed more scenes of Makoto and Akira as I believe they had a deeper relationship and less scenes of Mitsuki though I completely understand how Mitsuki would later be one of many to contribute to Makoto's death since everything is shown in Makoto's perspective.

Really happy to know about this movie that I could relate so much although I watched it late. Kento Nagao has so much potential, hope to see him in more movies and shows.
