Amazing Continuation, Slight Mood change

One thing I noticed with this season is the mood change.

While it still has plenty of jokes and quirky humor, it's definitely toned down to make way for more emotional story lines (Even if those do have humor in them Aswell). The main lead is still amazing and gives the show so much life, along with the amazing opening theme. (Although I found their new fits weird, anyone else?)

I think the only story line I wasn't really into was the girl/boy one (unironically). Mostly because I feel like compared to the other storylines it lacked a lot of cohesion, but otherwise the story was still very funny and well-made.

I'm glad they've confirmed season 3, it's going to be great to watch, and hopefully they don't split them up at the beginning of the season, it feels slightly like a cop out. That was prob my only other issue is that rather than adding story beats across the entire season, they opted to give us a little story in the beginning, and then nothing until last episode.

If I have one hope for next season, is that they keep them in a relationship, but also try and use the protagonist skill to identify classic BL tropes to his advantage in his relationship, I think that's a very cool concept.

Less Joke but make you love the characters more

Ok, this will be a short review because the series itself is really short that I finish quickly after it’s released on GagaOOlala.

Story:

I was interested because the season 1 cracked me up so hard that until today I still laughed thinking about it sometime lol It was satire comedy about BL manga tropes and shouldn’t be taken too serious, however it is slightly different for season 2 here. While Mob having to continue fighting the world of BL that kept having men trying to join his harem, This time instead of enthusiastically trying to deny that he doesn’t like boy it was more like he’s broken hearted and can’t move on to like another guy even though they tried to hit on him with those BL flags so It became a bit more serious and less joke. I like this though, our Mob became a more mature character and even gave relationship advice to other guys lol There’re some parts that still crack me up. I read manga of this before and I know most people dislike how the drama is going to different route by giving mob one and only love interest but I find it fun to be different, this one you seeing a man who’s taken but still having to dodge the tropes lol

Music:

Nothing much to say, the OP song stuck in my head since season 1 and I’m glad they kept it and even better with an even more extra dance video LMAO I never skipped it.

Rewatch Value:

It’s short and fun so I will say I can rewatch it anytime if I feel down.

From the ending tease, It seems they are opened for season 3 ?? I hope they make it lol even though he has a boyfriend now he will still have to fight the tropes in that world.

More of the same old, but you won't dislike it if you liked Season 1

AKA: A Man Who Defies the World of BL Season 2

When I reviewed the first season, I said that it might get better in Season 2. After all, Season 1 is largely about the protagonist's gay panic as he realizes that he is a character in a BL world. Although there are many couples featured, the main character himself only comes to terms with his love for another guy at the end of Season 1.

I thought then that Season 2 would be more interesting because there may finally be development. Unfortunately Season 2 is more of the same old stuff. It starts where Season 1 ends (i.e. where the protagonist confesses to another guy his love). Unfortunately, the confession amounts to nothing as this other guy's ex-boyfriend appears and our dear protagonist runs away.

So he basically reverts to his previous self, resisting all possible ships with other men. Until he meets that guy he has confessed to again.

In a way, perhaps there isn't really much of a way out of it. The series would undermine its basic premise if it does not do more of the same stuff. (The protagonist is supposed to be a man who is aware that he is a BL character and tries his darn best to resist being shipped with another man. So if he no longer resists, the series either ends of takes on quite a different character.)

Nevertheless, the mini series is still quite delightful as a BL series that is able to laugh at itself. There is humor and lots of cuteness. And being rather short, it doesn't feel at all draggy. Some might even be craving for more.

Cute but a little disappointing...?

I really liked the first season - it was a great mix of parody but also fluff. We also got from point A to point B, basically, there was a progress in terms of the MC.
This time, the focus is more on characters (the parody, not so much) and we are mostly following the supporting characters... That is where I had an issue. I felt like the story of the supporting characters could've been released as a spin off episode. I feel like nothing really happenned with the MC and his development.
I would prefer it if the focus of this season was more on Mob, and his brother Ayato (who gets screen time but still I would love to see more... Ayato/Toujou have such a great chemistry!).
Why am I rating this season still relatively high? The acting and the gorgeous guys made this still very watcheable.

Good!

Once again, Absolute BL was a refreshment to catch, and continuing on into the story of Mob is a fun one. I would say this season deals with some more sentimental topics, but it can never stay serious since 2 seconds later we're panning to show Mob just peaking from behind. I loved watching this series, I'm upset that it only had three episodes, but I'm hopeful that a third season will happen.

For anybody just curious about Absolute Bl in general, I would say to watch seasons 1 and 2 together, as if they were one. Not that season 2 was confusing or anything, but it would probably feel like a full-length series if you do so. In season 2, we're back on focusing on Mob, how he finds himself dealing with all these other BL tropes, and his everlasting love quarrel with Kikuchi.

What I liked: Pretty much what I loved about season one. The bright light anytime the pretty BL love interest came on screen, the caring relationship between Mob and his bother, the tropes that are over-exaggerated to a point that it's too funny, even this season, I thought the romance been Mob and Kikuchi wasn't all that bad, they just needed an ounce more of development for me to feel bad that he's studying abroad, but again, this is a series that is trying to show us how fast these lovers go and overexaggerate it to a point of no return. This was a very neat series, everything followed n the right path, and nothing felt filtered or unnecessary, something this series never sways upon, and that I can appreciate.

What I didn't lIke: Again, just these chaste ass kisses from Ayato and Toujou. I don't ask for much, but I do ask that they don't kiss like they're making contact with a dead fish. I also would've appreciated it if this season was longer, as it was even shorter than season 1. Now I'm scared season 3 will only be a two-parter and then were inevitably have to sit and wait for a season 4.

Ratings:

Story: 8.5 - Enjoyable. I think the last season was a teensy bit more enjoyable, but there was nothing wrong with this series. The character development that Mob is going through is definitely the best of them all.

Acting: 9 - Reall good just like last season. Mob does a fantastic job. Ayato is a fucking cutie, and the rest are manageable, nothing amazing, but good enough for me not to cringe.

Music: 8.5 - This has to be one of the most addicting intro songs ever. It's stuck in my head permanently. It's not even something I would listen to, but this series will make sure it never leaves your head.

Rewatch Value: 2 - I would probably rewatch the first season more than I would this season. However, I'm always going to come back to watch the incredible 90's biker title sequence.

Can't wait for season 3, I'm hopeful that we'll see some other tropes and a funny Mob. This is just such a refreshment and much more enjoyable than I could've ever imagined it would be.

It's back with more BL tropes and added heart!

I've been waiting for season 2, ever snice watching the cliffhanger from season 1. Of course with Inukai new recognise status.
Season 2 of Zettai BL I've been waiting for.

Well in the end we got yet another cliffhanger lol if it is'nt broke then don't fix it. Looking forward to season 3! (If we get one)

Acting/casting

Do I need to say anything? Even if Inukai is wearing a wig to play as mob. Mob is still mob. Ok I think mob may of lost a bit of his brain cells because the things mob does here is questionable. Inukai still is an amazing comedy actor, but even in the serious parts he's giving it his all. His monologue really leveled up compared to season 1.

Asahi Ito is the one gets a praise/shoutout from me. Because his Kikuchi was so cute, the kind Kikuchi considerate of mob's feelings. Even when he's being tricked by mob thinking mob has memory loss. Kikuchi still thanks mob for being there to inspire him to study aboard. When he wanted to say to mob that he will always think of him and will always miss him. My heart was swayed (like mob as well lol).

I am disapointed that Izuka Kenta barely got to do anything, but it was nice to see him.

The rest of the cast were great as always

Positives

Like the whole thing, like just the BL world itself I liked watching all the extras being lovely with each other. I really loved the futher development between mob and Kikuchi. Even if it's short, it crams a lot of understanding between the two. It amazing that mob and Kikuchi skipped the whole "being friends" and went straight to liking each other. Fastest couple I've seen forming in a BL drama like ever.

Negatives

Some things are not explained mostly relating to the 4th wall breaking. How can mob hear the monologue of other characters? How did Miyama (the BL mangaka) can manipulate Mob's feelings like that? How can mob see flowers and smell their scent of some of the men? Why does mob imagen his brother make out with his lover?

I need like answers to this stuff.

Overall

If you like the 1st season then you will like more from the second season!

Season 2 is far better than Season 1

In terms of comedy scenes and storyline, Season 2 is bearable and well-executed. All episodes except that Vs Pretty Girls episode are entertaining. That only episode is giving the same vibes like the entire Season 1. This one-hour Season 2 is a decent step-up from its two-hour predecessor. I laughed for a moment and I like the development of the romantic relationship of main character's younger brother.

Same as Season 1, the ending is pretty good. I will definitely watch the next season and see the progress of the main character's defiance to BL. :D

Watchable and decent.

Not laugh-out-loud, but amusing

As this is literally a spoof of BL manga and dramas, it was over-the-top acting with an over-the-top storyline. I'm not usually a fan of overacting and silly stuff, but this wasn't too bad for what it was, in my opinion. It was actually a little more serious than the first season, and had a bit more substance. It also had some character growth, which is always a good thing.

I was introduced to some new (characters) actors, and I am looking forward to seeing some of them act again. However, the one actor that stood out for me is Yutaro (the mob's brother.) I think he had the most natural acting of anyone. (That statement is a little suspect, since none of them were supposed to actually act 'natural' due to it being a spoof.) But I have seen him in a couple of other things, and he always seems to stand out as a good actor.

From the 'behind the scenes,' it seems that this director is good to work for, so he is able to get the actors to fulfill their roles appropriately. I appreciate that the actors seem respected and acknowledged for their hard work. Hopefully the rest of the staff are as well.

Overall, this was enjoyable, and if there is a third season, I will watch that also.

3 episodes isn't enough! ?

This manga series and the first season are one of my favorite things ever, so I couldn't wait for this to be released. Finally, that day has come!
Like many others also mentioned, this season was more focused on the development of the characters and less about comedy - that doesn't mean there was less of it, though! Seeing some of my favorite moments in live action was a lot of fun :)
At first, I thought the story was going to continue the same way as the first season but they did a little twist at the end. I will keep this spoiler free though ^^
I hope season 3 will happen, and please, a few more episodes this time!!

Tremendously hilarious BL sitcom

I like how the opening part of the series is the direct continuation of s1 finale. It is extremely fun to see Mob still fighting the BL trap in his world.

In the beginning he almost gave in to his own feelings for kikuchi, he was about to propose him but it seems the world has stored more fun for him and thus marks the appearance of kikuchi's ex.

Normally I don't like comic reaction in japanese drama because it seems so animated. It feels as if they are trying to copy the same from manga to series which generally doesn't come out well in live action. Reaction and expressions in manga are meant to be a bit exaggerated to keep the art engaging and so I can't say the same for the live action. But Inukai just nailed it. His portrayal of mob was on point. His animated comical expression just didn't felt awkard but was extremely funny and gave a good laugh.

I loved the story, it is so light-hearted that I could just watch it again and again. I was expecting the show runners to give a clean ending but they ended up with another cliff hanger and opening a possibility of 3rd season.

If you people you are looking for some light hearted BL sit-com, then you are the right place.

a surprisingly good continuation of season one

Story: We start right where we left off, and while I was a little upset at first how quickly they pushed Kikuchi aside to return to the good old same old Mob narrating and observing his and other people's lives, trying o avoid "becoming BL". And while it was fun and I was enjoying myself, I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed at how this show treated Kikuchi. But given the title, it was no surprise that they wouldn't fully commit to the Kikuchi and Mob train. Or to say it with Inukai Atsuhiro's own words: "I'd say it was most difficult how far the characters should go. If they end up together, then it destroys the very title of this series. I think season 2 begins in a way that was "as expected"."

Acting/Cast: I was glad to see many familiar faces from season one and how that tied into the season showed more themes of outside forces and internal struggles in an established relationship rather than only focusing on meet-cutes like in season one. Especially when watching the making-off of season two, you can feel how they are all glad to be there and give it their all, and it shows.

Music: The intro slaps. I love to listen to it, and I never skip it. Ever. It's seriously a bop. And the way they styled the people this season was very dramatic, and I loved it. I'm sure there is a deeper meaning or at least some particular thoughts that went into it, but I honestly don't know, and I'd be weird to assume things, so I'll leave it at that xD

Rewatch Value: Season two only has three episodes roughly 25 minutes long, so it's perfect for a quick and easy watch.

I remember last year that I played its opening song for hundreds time lol

I kinda miss this show actually so when I knew this series complete released, I put aside every other series that I've been watching since month ago. Even though I know this series is a BL Comedy, but I expected something bigger (at least in a comedy part). If I compared this season to the previous one, it quite decreased from many aspects. I'm pretty upset to say this, but I'm gonna waiting for new season!

Like Season 1, I fond of the way how they ended this series. It feels like, they made us to wait for this series finished intentionally.
