Funny road trip drama with surprising charm

Cupid´s last wish is a pretty fun series in exciting setting and the fact that's it is EarthMix makes it an enjoyable experience.

A drama that resolves around a quest type of story is risky thing to do. This series sometimes feels little repetitive. They drive, they eat, obstacle comes and Win throws a tantrum... but despite the first episode I quickly came to realize that this drama is not supposed to be that serious, it´s a comedy! And with that the series became much more enjoyable. In fact it could only surprise me from now on. And it did!

I liked what the did with Win, he is horrible. You are supposed to hate him but that makes his character development so satisfying. I guess the reason why so many people dislike him is because the set up for him in the first episode was weak and makes him look like he is overreacting. But I got over it quickly and enjoyed him being annoying brat that needs a lesson. Really this dramas best ideas were simple, they worked the best. You have a guy that is an asshole and needs to realize how badly he has been treating his loved ones. Fate makes him go on a journey full of funny adventures in his sister´s body as he realizes his mistakes.

SO WHY IS THE FINALE SO NONSESICAL AND OUT OF CONTROL. I was expecting the spirit of Win´s father to be behind it all, it´s a logical wrap up of the story. But NO, the father´s death and character were pointless plot device because it was the mom that made Win and Korn drift apart. I thought that the whole engagement thing was a nonsense but then the climax of the farms inheritance came in and left a bitter taste in my mouth.

(And don´t even get me started on the uncle and aunt. I was okay with them being cartoony Team Rocket villains, it sort of fitted the story, but they did nothing for the whole series. You could write them off and the story wouldn´t change. )

So the finale is a huge miss but the rest of the series holds up pretty well. Mix is great in his role, I enjoyed him the best and Jan as Win in Lin´s body was phenomenal. The body swap doesn´t really matter but isn´t confusing and adds a funny element to the story. Earth and Mix delivered as expected, made me laugh, made me angry and made me root for the form start to finish. I will be re-watching and I can´t wait for Moonlight chicken!

Quite Good for a Body Swap

I spent the last two episodes yelling at the screen. LOL! The story is interesting. I don't usually go for body swap shows since I want to watch MM, not MF. This one was good about showing the soul's body more than the actual body so it was much easier to handle. Earth and Mix are excellent in this. A spicy Mix is a total treat. I do not think I could have forgiven the issues at the end though.

IT’S CRAP!

I like EarthMix in A TALE OF A THOUSAND STARS but... I guess I’ll never know why THIS series has gotten such a high average rating. It’s CRAP! This is the only BL that I had HATED a main character so much that I almost stopped watching. Well, I fast forwarded a lot from Ep 6 to the finale.

I really thought we made progress from Ep 1 to 5. I was enjoying it finally. THEN… Episode 6 happened. Win is back to his obnoxious self. We’re back to Ep 1 all over again. Sheez. Five episodes wasted. The remaining 5 eps could do nothing to salvage this series.

Even Korn’s character, however goody-goody, is actually a DOORMAT. Win threw his clothes and kicked him out of the house, right? If I were him, I’d swear to never go back there again. Then, from Eps 2-5, we’re good again. But in Ep 6, the shouting thing happened again and Korn became a doormat once again.

The stereotype villains are also present here like we’re back in the 1970s.

By Episode 9, I really wished Korn and Lin would get married. Yes, that’s how the writers made Win’s character so hateful and obnoxious!!

Of course the 2 MLs are our endgame. We could have skipped Eps 2-9 had Win not been an a***ole from the start.

BS line of Win to his mother: “Why did you want me to hate Korn?” Ijit!!! You did that on your own! YOU were the one who reacted like a prima donna, YOU were the one who threw Korn out of your house! What trash is this, writers??? LAUGHABLE!!! Who wants to watch the rest of the finale after that? Not me.

It’s the mother’s reason for doing what she did that takes the cake. Hello, writers?? Mother’s reason: She knew about Korn and Win, so she gives Korn a share in their farm, “knowing that Win will hate Korn”?? What kind of BS logic is that? And true enough, you succeeded in making Win’s character the most hated ML in the entire BL world! Congrats! NOT.

In the end, it seems like this is just an ad for a Thai farm. This is an overlong crap and a waste of time.

5 / 10

Felt like I wasted my time

Tbh I expected great things from this series cause of the cast but boy I was wrong. Don't get me wrong, the chemistry between Earth and Mix is still as sweet as sugar and they are like an old married couple in this drama. The thing that made me disappointed was the plot progression and how it made things unnecessarily wrong and it also made no sense and some parts was just a why. There was lot of misunderstandings and conflicts that should have been cleared at the 6 or 7 episode, not the last two episodes. Also the character development of Win was like too sudden imo, he did a complete 180 after he visited the 3 monk. He should have progressed through, not just being nice and caring all of a sudden. He was so bitchy before and just went back to his old personality again. Also the drama with the engagement was so unnecessary like OMG, why would Korn just accept it, and why did Lin and that useless doctor think it was a great plan and why did it take like 2 weeks to go this far to make Win confess his feeling. Why is this mother so useless, first she doesn't talk to her own child when he is being irrational and bratty, she doesn't take care of the holy water that Win entrusted to her and she forced Korn and Lin to get married just because she was against the relationship of Win and Korn and wanted the inheritance back, Bitch why did you think it was a good idea in the first place. Also these last minute romance thing really make me eh, come on its 2022, why do we still have to wait till the last episode for a kiss and handholding but at the same time, i guess it make sense since Win was in Lin's body, so I give it a pass. So this series is really mediocre and boring tbh. Had high expectations for it but was let down so hard.

I AM HERE TO GIVE AN UPDATE

So i dropped this on EP 4 while they're airing on disney+ because of the messy editing and color grading. I am glad to tell you that the producer of the show fix it for it's airing on youtube after the many backlash they received. I am very glad they did that because personally, that would save the show. What you see on youtube now, is so much different from what others saw on disney+, so be glad that fans give them critics instead of just taking it for what it is because then you wouldn't have the beautiful tone that you saw on youtube now.

Now the writing, i still don't vibe with it but at least now it is pleasing to look at (unlike the disaster that they previously released on disney+).

The show is a vehicle for Earth & Mix - nothing more.

I’ve never written a review before seeing all the episodes but with this one I can’t predict how long I’ll hold out so here’s a brief review so far.

After the dramatic realism of “A Tale of Thousand Stars”, “Cupid’s Last Wish” is the polar opposite: a fantasy-comedy that is a vehicle for the popular coupling of Earth & Mix. Production values are good and the two stars are enthusiastic but the story is a dud and the first episode is a shocker. Mix’s character’s behaviour is so repellent only fans will want to keep watching. The plot jumps erratically from one extreme event to another and descends into farce. A car accident produces a head injury which the hospital resident ignores to allow the patient to leave within 24hours. A shaman appears and issues instructions which obliges the two leads to commence a road trip. So far, the show feels like it was put together by a committee working off the “Best of BL plots” list.

Bashers could suck their own Ds and take their Ls too, lol.

This series wasn't catered for those who were silly enough to bash this in the first place. I was once one in the population of thinking it will be str8t usual romance drama series and Mix would be kicked aside but hell nah. This was peak drama series. I love the premise.
The one-sided rivalry on the inheritance. It's nonsense but it really set up the plot well. The storyline was executed very well. It's just that whenever EarthMix is in the series, it'll be very promising. They didn't fail to serve. After Moonlight Chicken one and 1000stars, this really set the standard on how to make a compelling BL series, well to other series as a whole. The slow romantic build up was paced really well. You wont really think, it's Jan and Pirapat being together the whole time. It really showed EarthMix. For a sec, I forgot Jan was Mix; vice versa.
When it's a dramatic scene, it'll surely be. Could really care less for the side couple. I was just glued the whole time on EarthMix.

Nice pacing
Nice plot
Nice cast
Nide osts too.

GMMTV really invested and showed genuine love for EarthMix. They really made them shine in every series they do. They really favored that BL couple just like Gem4th. It really ticked all the boxes for me.
Such a really compelling series

A SURPRISINGLY ENJOYABLE RIDE

Cupid's last wish is really interesting. I have had it on my watchlist for a while now, and I've been ignoring it, thinking it wouldn't be interesting because of the comments from people, and some said it's not BL, so I thought it wouldn't be so good. Let me you something if you're reading my review, never follow what people say about their reviews. CLW is very interesting! I enjoyed every bit of it. I finished it in less than a day without taking any breaks. The series portrayed some supernatural fantasy genres, but it's all done to make them understand their feelings and learn they really are. There are some parts that went unanswered, like the father ghost appearing, the stupid uncle and aunt, and the mother being the monster. All those things are very common. A dead father would always protect his children that is one thing I know. The wicked uncle and aunt are something most of us can relate to, and the mother thing isn't shocking, I've seen a lot of that, and they couldn't have possibly arrested or hated her because she's still their mother, no matter the situation.

Win : Win is a stubborn and annoying character who hides what he feels when it's always obvious he feels the opposite of what he says and how he behaves. He made the adventure so enjoyable, I got to see a lot of Thai cultural foods. He's also a funny character. And I don't ever think I would see a PMS scene in a BL lol he really acted that role very well without overdoing it. I loved his character he's too stubborn but still a good person.

Korn : Korn is a perfect character. He stayed with Win even after all that the guy said and did to him. Even though he knew the truth about his mother, he still kept quite and took all the insults. The annoying part was when the mother told him to get engaged to Win's sister, why would he have kept quite? He should have refused, what if the sister had no plan? He would've let go of his soulmate just like that? But overall. Korn loved Win so much!

MixEarth never disappoints and CLW might not be their best series, but it's still one of the best. It's not like any typical BL tropes. The adventure is something different from what we've been watching, watch CLW for a change if you're bored with the same tropes over and over again.

Also, about win getting angry about the father giving part of the stocks to Korn. To me, Win isn't angry about the stocks he just probably thought Korn befriended him because he wants their wealth. He really should have trusted him at that moment. But they're human being and people gwt taken by their emotions that explains it all.

CLW is a 10/10 for me. Thank you Mix and Earth for delivering once again!!!

Not Good!

2/10, dropped.

-Neg:

1. I didn't like that the bodies were swapped. Would have been nice if the two boys had fallen in love with each other.
2. Story was weak.

+Pos:

1. The only thing that i like is the pair. Fit so good.
2. Acting was good.

I HAVE TO GET THIS OUT OF MY CHEST!!!!!

This is really funny, i'm not even done with episode one and I'm already writing a review, I'm sorry but i just have to say this

Why the hell is win angry at Korn, just because the father gave Korn 25%, seriously I mean with what ive watched so far, i think korn deserves it, i feel he has been working there for a very long time and he has helped out a lot, Win shouldn't behave like that. Although I'm not even done with episode one, i just had to say this.... Soooo...but the music is actually interesting, it has a country music vibe to it.. And i love the cast especially Lin. So let see....
