Cutest Kindaichi so far after Yamada Ryosuke and Domoto Tsuyoshi ❤❤❤ I have to say that Michi's Kindaichi reminded me a lot of Tsuyoshi's Kindaichi, in terms of personality and charm. Not to mention how half of the cases that were featured in this season had been based on similar cases that had been covered by Tsuyoshi's Kindaichi so it does feel kinda nostalgic to see how the new series readapt those cases differently.

Personally, I really like what I'm seeing and I really like how the old cases were given a new life in this new season. Honestly with every different Johnny's we got to see different ways as to how each Kindaichi were intrepreted and one can't help finding new sides to the familiar characters. And Michi, just as his predecessors, have done well in bringing out Kindaichi's charm. That said, it's always so interesting to see how any new adaptations of the Kindaichi series be given a new life either in drama form or anime as they were never really written to be exactly like in the manga and will have different changes added to make each adaptation s different.

Only downside tho, no Detective Akechi again in the new series. Gotta say we're still not getting new Akechi actors in recent Kindaichi dramas ever since Tsuyoshi's run. As in the past series after season 1 and 2, all of the plot where Akechi originally appear in manga end up being transferred to Kenmochi or other characters.

It was good!

I love the series! Micchi and Sawamura Ikki did a great job for portraying Hajime and Ossan. The rest cast are OK.
But actually there are things that bother me. I think it's the story. It's easy to read the storyline and guess who the culprit is. I feel like the story is missing some important details that should be there. Cuz I don't get the 'waku waku' feels while watching some episodes, unlike when I watched the other Kindaichi series.
Despite that, I enjoyed watching it! Otsukare for the cast, staff and everyone who involved in the series!

Hdjd

Started watching this for the main lead (he's cute and that's enough for me). I haven't read the manga nor have I watched any of its other adaptations, so I can't say which is better, but I can affirm it absolutely can't be this drama. The acting isn't very good, for some of the main leads and especially the support characters in some of the episodes. However the worst is really the writing of the show. The cases weren't really exciting, and every single one was poorly executed. Some even were hardly logical, and it was so frustrating (there's this whole scene where they need to get something out of a fire, and they WAIT for it to die out instead of pouring water on it, I was screaaaaaaaming). If you're looking for a show with fun, good murder cases, I advise you keep looking and don't watch this one :')

My worst show of 2022 so far

This is easily the worst drama/movie I've watched all year, and for three very simple reasons:

1. The mysteries/muders are not smart -- I off handedly guessed all the tricks 20-30 mins before the reveal. There weren't smart tricks at all and in a real situation you wouldn't need the police or a special detective to figure them out. They were simple to the point it felt insulting to the audience, almost thinking the audience are too dumb to figure out the simplest of tricks.

2. The perpetrator every episode follows the same formula -- whoever is the most famous or well known GUEST that episode IS the perpetrator. You don't need the tricks or any information to figure out who it is so long as you know WHO is the most famous -- and this formula worked every. single. episode.

3. The side characters -- they were the most stupid and most boring side characters I've ever watched in a Kindaichi show.
- The best friend is annoying and stupid, there's no chemistry between our MC and his best friend -- even though they're from the SAME company and are friends in real life. Previous Kindaichi's really played into the soft bl-vibes with the best friend, and this time the best friend isn't even in it for a WHOLE episode sometimes.
- Miyuki, annoyingly useless and absolutely boring she was. It felt like the writer's couldn't decide if they wanted a romance or not. And her constantly coincidentally finding the main clue for Kindaichi every episode was absolutely ridiculous past the point of cute and funny. It was just down right stupid. Plus, there's literally a whole episode she complains that Kindaichi isn't spending time with her, but there is a whole series of murders going on(?!) and she's more concerned about not being able to share snacks with him? It was downright stupid. Insulting to teen girls in all honesty.
- The cop: The actor himself is very talented and very well loved in Japan, but his character is above stupid, it's annoying (see a pattern?) and it completely feels like he only took this role because it was an easy job to get an easy paycheck - it really showed. The cop brought absolutely nothing to the drama when he's supposed to be an intricate main part of the entire plot; he's supposed to bounce off well with Kindaichi both in comedy and in the mysteries. But he's just a bumbling idiot in this season.

Kindaichi (who is the only actual likeable character this season, thank you Micchi) is supposed to be about the MC and his best friends and a loveable cop getting along and finding mysteries with the occasional camp humour that makes you giggle - this 5th season really dropped the ball completely and had NONE of that.

This entire season is sloppy writing, sloppy tricks, sloppy reveals, and sloppy chemisty with characters.

It's sloppy.

Even Japanese audiences weren't liking it - it had the LOWEST Kindaichi viewship ratings ever, and it wasn't even on the top end of viewship ratings for the entire Spring Dorama Season 2022. You can clearly and easily see why.

Glad it's over.

Michii <3

I watch the whole episode 1 without subtitle, when it comes to talking scene I never skipped it, I really want to see Michii acting, and the story is so good, and yeah first of all he played a main role in my favorite genre the Crime & Mystery genre. I will continue watch this and will continue to support him..

I do understand the story here through their movements, and when talking scenes I can understand poorly, at least I understand something. I study Japanese language right now, please do watch this drama, it's so worth it to watch. and the story is so thrilling. right now midnight sometimes I got scared watching 'cause I'm here in my room alone and the story is kind of killing stuff so it got me scared, but when I see Michii smile it delighted me.

review saya agak biased!!!
