nothing special tbh

amazing main couple with a lot of chemistry but the story it’s just okay
the beginning is really good and really catchy but at the 9th episode i think it starts to be very boring

A decent rom-com

The highlights:
- the grandma was the best part of this show. My favorite kdrama grandma of all time.
- the romance was healthy and the plot didn't use cheap overly dramatic arcs just for the sake of it.
- I specially liked the ML's acting, also enjoyed his friend's humor.

What could have been better:
- the FL felt too flat. She had no real character development and just always felt like she was in the same exact mood all the time. I couldn't connect with her.
- some parts of the plot stroke me as too idealistic, bother-line demagogue. Some things were resolved way too easily and even though it's supposed to be a light rom-com, it still made care less about the overall story.

Not in the king level of a show but enough to land you a smile

I must say that Lee Junho and Im Yoona’s pair are top-notch. They have already shown their romantic tension ever since their Senorita exceptional performance on a music show. That’s why when the drama was announced with them as the main lead, I immediately added this to my watchlist without even knowing what the story was. Lee Junho always made his series worthy of binge-watching effortlessly seducing the viewers to fall with his character’s charisma and vibes.

They never failed, although I must say that the overall impact of the show is literally not that great. It was good enough for a fun time show with its light and romance elements but they failed to be consistent. I found myself fast-forwarding some episodes and I felt only one thing that time -boring. However, the finale episode uplifts and justifies the flop of previous episodes.

I came across a comment that the show lacks plot twists yet I feel like the show doesn’t need a more dramatic kind of appeal but needs more scenes to give to other side characters. I was hoping that the flight attendant lady would be promoted already in the last episode but it didn’t happen. In general, if you’re watching a soft and fun series, this is enough for you. But if you want more dramatic actions, you will entirely feel less about it. Nevertheless, King the Land gives me a Hermes smile with their quality of producing the whole show.

I didn’t want to like this.

a friend of mine loved it, so even though romances aren’t really my thing, and especially not Cinderella stories, I started it… and never stopped. The characters were charming and the actors sold a decent but not outstanding story by committing to it 110%. The dialog was believable (and often hilarious) and the scenery was gorgeous. The male lead was enchanting! I’m not familiar with idols but I can understand why he has a fandom. I appreciated the green flags and the empowerment of the women characters. I thoroughly enjoyed this for its intent - to warm the heart. I could watch it again.

One of the better Rom-Coms

I was fresh from watching The Red Sleeve and needed something funny after that and My Dearest. I was also so impressed by Lee Jun Ho and needed to see him in something else, so I picked up King the Land. This rom-com was light-hearted and funny and I liked Jun Ho's performance as, Gu Won, the debonair chaebol with the heart of gold. When he meets a lovely staff member taking care of business in his hotel room, sparks fly even though they claim to dislike each other.

The show is rife with silly moments, sound bites for gulping and eye batting, and over-the-top performances by Ahn Se Ha, Gu Won's trusty sidekick. While this can get old real quick, it manages to stay fun. The secondary main leads don't overtake the main leads and still manage to pull off an interesting to watch love story. I even like that there is a big age difference between one of the couples, which is never an issue between the two. I found myself rooting for them.

There were some cliches that would have been better left out, but the bigger disappointment was the rushed wrap up of the drama and the use of the redemption arc for the villains. Personally, I like to see villains get their just desserts, so the writing choices left me feeling a bit cheated there. Definitely, the best part was the romance between our main leads. The kisses were smoking hot! Lee Jun Ho is incredibly attractive and talented. I am looking forward to seeing him in more dramas.

A bit lacking, but a great drama overall.

This drama was a cliche but it was an enjoyable watch indeed. I loved the chemistry between the main characters, I love the friendship that it portrayed.

Overall, It wasn't the best but I enjoyed it. The acting was great too. Yoona and Junho did such a good job. They were truly made for romcom.

I am not much of a romcom person, so I couldn't enjoy this drama as much. But if you enjoy romcom, then you should definitely give King the Land a try. Exceptional cast and intriguing story line, go for it!!

Lousy script, lousy show....

Such a lousy and old-fashioned plot. The director and production team were just trying to pull a fast one with a lousy script. They just want to captitalise on the visual aesthetics of Yoona and Jun Ho. Even the fake dating news between Yoona and Junho was also part of the publicity stunt. ...trying to increase viewership for an already-lousy show. Can we just be honest that Yoona really looks good but can't act. This show just shows all her acting flaws. Yoona went to another level with Big Mouth then slipped back 10 levels down for King the land. This show does not provide any breakthrough for Jun ho too. Big disappointment for all the hype for the show.
Hey director, not even more kiss scenes will save your lousy show. Why does such show even exist! What a waste of resources and time slot.

There is nothing new or clever about this formulaic, predictable drama replete with every tired old trope from Korean drama land. I've always been unimpressed with Im Yoonah's acting and this drama does nothing to change that. Every time Junho walked in, I felt like I was watching a perfume ad. That's too bad because I though that he did a good job in "The Red Sleeve." But this seemed more like a vanity project for two stars than an attempt at entertainment or story telling, serious or otherwise. I was bored.

Typical Storyline

At first, I did not recognized Yoona. It has been a while since I last saw any of her project. She now look matured, in a good way. Im not sure if she's married now and had a kids, she looks different. Acting wise, it's a so so. Yoona's acting is not really impactful. Something is lacking but I hope her character will improved as we watch the series. I also noticed that that most of the hotel scenes are CGI like how Cdrama use in their series. I will keep waching and see if the characters will develop and hope to enjoy it even more. They storyline is very typical and predictable. My worry is that, ill get bored and just wait for the next new series.

I will give this series a try and watch it every week. ?

A romcom we are want to watch

I waited a long time for a happy and fun romcom like this ? the story and Junho and Yoona acting are so well matched...
We had enough of serial killers and thriller, so happy to finally watching a pure romance comedy drama... the original genre that attracted me to kdrama years ago..
It's already received lots of love globally, #1 in Netflix for lots of countries and among top 10 for other, and also in top 5 of Netflix global.
Looking forward to see next episodes and how characters and story evolves.

This review may contain spoilers

Pretty standard rom-com without anything special.

It was a good watch, it was a pretty standard rom-com kdrama.
Some comedy here and there, some drama here and there.

Nothing outstanding, but not bad either.
Im Yoon Ah is stunning as always and she does fit the role very well.
Lee Jun Ho also fit the role pretty well, and the chemistry was pretty good between them.

I was afraid it would take the normal boring LETS BREAK UP and then spend the next 2 Episodes doing nothing and then get back together last episode. It did take a spin towards that but not as typical boring kdrama romcom so thats a plus.

If you want a pretty lighthearted romcom then its for sure worth a watch.
