859 AD. The once-great Tang Dynasty is now declining. Numerous rebel groups have formed, the largest of which is the House of Flying Daggers, based in Feng Tian county. FNOS has same vibe with its Comedy, Supernatural, fated love/past lives/reincarnation romance genre mix. While ML in FNOS is no otherworldly being, a lot around him is. Ghosts/evil spirits instead of Grim Reaper but deals with a lot of life and death and second chances in its story/themes. Lead's love ended tragically in the past, but gets a new chance for happiness in the present. Both are humorous and light with serious/sad moments.

They both have a different feel to it but both ML’s are grim reapers that go into a humans body for two different reasons. Black is a Romance Mystery/Thriller where a Grim Reaper who possesses the body of the ML to find his rookie partner and the FL can see shadows of death and she tries to prevent deaths along with the ML.

However, she does not attack humans and live modestly. Toramatsu is a popular resident in the town and is trusted by many. After getting a divorce, Toramatsu got drunk and went back to his old house, where he met Kokoro, the current occupant. As the two continue to keep their secrets hidden, a horrific murder occurs once again in the town.
