For lovers from the heart, love is perfect, hence it goes forever.-

I had great expectations for Wulin Heroes, due to my honest admiration towards Li Hong Yi as an actor and singer. The drama is fresh and has a good story and script and the actors got very well developed characters. You will see a Spicy and cheerful Ye Xi, with tremendous good energy and unstoppable faith in good things. On the other side, you will see a Shy, introverted and arrogant Dr. Bai Yue, with extraordinary medical skills, to turn in the hands of love, onto a devoted man in need of love, almost desperate to let love in his life against the odds. The story gets deeper and more interesting by episode 12. I confess, I binged on the last 10 eps. Love the ending. Although I was concerned about it. It's my first time seeing Huang Ri Ying acting, and I think she is a terrific actress. The FL and ML actors got to a wonderful point of understanding and did great job. The OST is Super. First song, is perfect for Ye Xi's cheerful personality and ending song, was made both for Bai Yue's easy style, and Li Hong Yi's gorgeous voice. There's an instrumental piano piece played throughout the whole drama, that got fixed in my memory. It's beautiful. I know I will re-watch this drama very soon. I totally loved it. It has my 100%.-

GUARANTEED YOU WILL LOVE IT !

STORY:
the story is about the FL who is born as female ginseng fairy. she was innocent and gullible and always trust the wrong guy, falls for the wrong guy and end up asking the ML to save all this evil guy. Each time that happened, she will always end up getting killed, wrongly accuse, and died. And the ML will always listen to her, help her to save the evil guy that she falls in love with, and end up seeing her dead, and burried her and help her reborn again. But eventually the FL falls for the ML, and unfortunately ML is cursed and cannot falls in love, or he will died of heartbreak.
Overall the drama is very relaxing, funny, and enjoyable. And full of LOVE of course ! Super loves how the ML silently and patiently listen to the girls and help her every single time and protect her.

ACTING / CAST:
I think this is the best act done by Li Hong Yi. Always his fans, but i tell you i'm not being biased, but his acting in this drama is much better that previous project of his. that even the director compliment him on this. Actually i think li hong yi always pick the best project for himself. Of course i love him and his acting the most in Queen Lau drama. But i think he is really suitable with this kind characters.

For FL, i love her in To Get Her, but somehow i felt other actress can fit this FL character better than her. Throughout the whole drama she is being gullible and stupid. But still got lots of fighting scenes and scene where she need to show her strong facade, strong resolute and i think she failed at that. Maybe because she is too baby face and also the make up makes her looks cute instead of cool. And even on the cute part where she keep confessing her love, it supposed to be cute and send us over the moon, but somehow quite so-so.
So i believe some one else can fit the as the cast better.

MUSIC:
music is quite okay. i love both opening and ending song, and OST that they played through out the drama. of course i'm being biased, cause one of it is sung by Hong Yi with his soothing voice. hahaha

REWATCH:
I just rewatched all my favourite scene !!! the drama is super cute and sweet !!! the ML guy is sweet. hahaha i want that guy in real life !

What is yours, is nobody's else

No matter how many obstacles oppose to your plans. Whoever was born to be yours, will be definitively yours. That's what this drama left. Is sweet and bitter, but the FL's determination and temperament made possible to maintain the sweets in good standard. Her character is full of surprises and the best attitude towards hard times.

The three main leads Li Hong Yi, Huang Ri Ying and Zhu Zan Jin are extraordinary good actors. They really cooperated together to give us the best of the drama, with their performances. Both ML and 2nd ML pursuing the lady, created enough fun watching the story to grow in action, emotion and drama. Each one using their own resources among which there were army guys, maphia evil bandits, great martial arts, poisons, medicines and hundred tricks.

The soundtrack is awesome. Lovely rendition of Li Hong Yi's on "Waiting". There is another song that has beautiful melody and very nice voice by the male singer.

Overall, is a magic sweet story. Well done Li Hong Yi, Huang Ri Yin and Zhu Zan Jin. You kept me busy and totally entertained for weeks.

Dont waste you time watching this drama

PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME

I finished a few wuxia but this is the worst that I seen
The drama only saved by Li hong Yi popularity

I read the synopsis say that the FL is strive to be the best martial art but from the beginning doesn't show how the FL get so much stronger
I just know that FL love to watch ML in secret when in fairy body and from that she learn Martial art from ML book
And suddenly she become so stronger and become so dumb
She die 3 time and still dumb
There is fine line between dumb and naive

This FL is more to dumb person

And her life is surrounding by man

I only watch till ep 12 and skip to ep 22
Because i cant stand her dumbness

The ML already remind her that she always came with different man each time to beg for him to healed at the end they choose to betrayed because of her dumbnest

And she still in her believe that they nice

The second lead is obsessed with her till the end of the drama

DONT WASTE YOUR TIME WATCHING THIS
THERE IS A LOT WUXIA DRAMA THAT WORTH YOUR TIME

To the writer plese dont make woman character so dumb like this one

Lighthearted drama with a happy ending!

Wulin Heroes is a lighthearted and easy to watch romantic drama. Having only 22 episodes and a low budget, it naturally has its flaws, (like female lead's white wig, you can see VERY clearly her dark hair underneath) but is compensated with the lack of angst. Very fastpaced, has a reverse harem and the story itself is not complicted. If you are looking for something very easy to watch, i suggest this drama.

STORY:
The story follows Ye Xi, a ginseng fairy who meets a handsome and cold yet lonely doctor Bai Yue. Bai Yue is a "miracle doctor" and the lord of Fenghua Valley. Devoting his whole life for medicine, he is lonely, having only a few to talk to and not allowed to fall in love. Until one day he gets saved by a mysterious girl in red. This girl is Ye Xi.
Wanting to repay Ye Xi, he treats her and saves her when she is getting fooled by men.
Ye Xi is kindhearted and trusting and gets betrayed by men many times, even getting the nickname "Wicked witch" due to fabricated rumors.

SPOILER PART OF THE STORY, MY OPINION:
In my opinion Wulin Heroes is a good drama that has its "trashy" moments. The plot itself is nice, Ye Xi (and the viewers) are getting the lesson "Love yourself the most. Do not blindly trust men as they can betray you, but there will be good men that will treat you well." The drama has a good lesson to be learned as Ye Xi goes through what many of us do in real life. She doesn't fall in love with any of the men that betrayed her. She only felt friendship/like towards these men, but was ready to believe in them and maybe marry them. She just wanted desperately to be with someone whom she can talk to and grow old with. She didn't know what love was until it hit her and she met Bai Yue.
Bai Yue was sharp tongued but always ready to help her without expecting anything in return. The drama had a very quick start, which was a little confusing but i got used to it quickly. In the end there were only 2 men that truly loved her. Bai Yue and Cang Qi. Cang Qi had a tragic and sad backstory and i felt bad for him as he tried too hard to force Ye Xi to be with him. He had fallen in love with the only one who gave him warmth and blaming himself for her "1st death" (She died but because she is a ginseng flower, it was like a flower going through hibernation) he became obsessed with her. I was hoping he would get his happy ending too, as he never wanted to be an emperor, he only wanted to be able to protect her. The drama was a little bit all over the place sometimes, but for 22 episodes, it was expected. Ye Xi's personality wasn't my cup of tea as she was too kind and trusting and even though Bai Yue told her not to trust Tang Huan, she still did and in the end ended up killing him. There were some plot holes that left me wondering. For example: When Bai Yue dies from heart failure due to a curse that had been passed down for generations, Ye Xi lies down in the coffin with him and closes it and suddenly the coffin disappears and they are thrown into the mountains near the Fenghua Valley. Bai Yue didn't seem to be alive when Ye Xi woke up but later on he wakes up and realizes that the way to break the curse was to lie down with the one you love in the coffin. It left me baffled.

Wulin Heroes had clearly a low budget and i understand that, but Ye Xi's white wig was awful. I saw her real hair in almost every shot clearly from underneath. The only other flaw i would say was that the makeup artist went a little too far in some of the scenes (for example Bai Yue having a really dark and refined dark red lipstick after getting a wound on his shoulder.) The drama is only 22 episodes long which in cdrama terms is short, so i won't be too hard on the plot, costumes or on the set. The plot is unusually charming to me. I would have said its 7.5 but due to the actors being so good ( Li Hongyi, Zhu Zanjin and Qi Peixin) i'm personally going to give it a 8.

ACTING:

Huang Ri Ying as Ye Xi,
I was glad to see a female who had strong martial arts and could protect the people she wanted to protect. She didn't need much protecting from men but naturally was saved by Bai Yue a couple of times. Huang Ri Ying was a good pick for this role. She was nothing too special in my eyes but most importantly, she wasn't whiny or too childish.

Li Hongyi as Bai Yue,
Cold, sharp tongued yet caring. His role reminded me a little bit of Lan Zhan (Wang Yibo) in Untamed and i was happy to see another actor being able to say so many words with just one look. His eyes never lied when his mouth did. The feeling of love and affection was in his eyes. Li Hong Yi is elegant and was the greatest pick for this role. His acting was very nice.

Zhu Zanjin as Cang Qi,
Cang Qi had a tragic backstory, not wanting to live or having anything to live for. He gets saved by Ye Xi many times and for the first time in his life, he feels warmth and care. Naturally he is thankful and regretful and eventually becomes obsessed with Ye Xi. Wanting to protect her, treat her well and to be with her. Zhu Zanjin was able to convey the feelings so believably and a part of me wanted him to get Ye Xi just because how desperate and lost he seemed. Personally felt like Zhu Zanjin was the greatest pick for the drama.

Qi Peixin as Tang Huan,
A baby face who turns out to be evil? Very nice! It was truly a great role to see Qi Peixin in. A mean, cruel and scheming Tang Huan who was obsessed with power. Qi Peixin was a very nice pick for this role.

If you know what you're getting into, either you'll watch and stick with it, or not watch at all.

I finished it!!... after reading through the comments and spoilers, and having nothing to watch, I decided to jump right in. As mentioned the first 11 episode were really, really hard to watch, but knowing their were some light at the tunnel, and my type of light too, I decided to just skip through unnecessary people and scenes, after around episode 13 or so, I didn't skip as much and did enjoy the latter part of the show, it still wasn't by any means "good", but decent enough if you have nothing else to watch, and you're okay skipping through some scenes and people until around episode 12.

It was mostly because of the FL, I didn't hate her and I wasn't quite annoyed, most people probably will be, but I was trying to be positive, she isn't a bad person, she's just righteously innocent and naive?!. She does have serious character development, so that's why I stuck through.

I did enjoy their romance a lot (when it did start), the acting, and OSTs the plot was the major issue here, the way they wrote the FL in the first half, and the way they wrote that one major anti-climatic scene haha.

The villains were all disturbingly disgusting tbh... where did they get the inspiration for these men? haha, they just kept getting worse. This one third-wheeler were way too obsess, he had some really funny scenes because of his nonsense, and it was not just the type of funny as in comedy, I was laughing "at" him!..

if you're able to withstand that, then by all means give it a try. Do I regret watching it? if I didn't know what I was getting into I would have, but I knew, so I don't I enjoyed the last episode.

It was hard deciding how to rate this, but i give an 8 because I knew what I was getting into, I liked the romance, the ending, the acting and the Ost's.

Low budget drama that hit all the right beats for me.

It’s not perfect and the story gets repetitive in some parts, but it’s still enjoyable. The romance was the best part. It’s pretty non toxic with a touch of Harlequin romance. The ML and FL go thru so much stuff on,y to realize that they are 100% soulmates.. I also like the character growth the FL, Yexi, goes thru. She starts as the normal, run of the mill female lead but by the end she’s totally different and stronger. I like that the writers did that. I also liked the complicated relationship between the ML and the 2ML. They hate each other but at the same time, share a strong bond of understanding, respect and friendship between them. The supporting characters except for maybe one, don’t do much for the story. But I guess they were needed because this couldn’t be a 3-4 cast member drama 😂. The story wasn’t much to write home about since it’s mostly centered around Yexi, her journey and her journey to find love. But I did enjoy the journeys. It is a small budget drama but I feel like the cast and everyone in the production company did a good job. The main villain as annoying as he was, I think was one of the best I’ve seen lately. I felt how horrible he was and his actions made sense. I love LHY so I watched this for him and I’m glad I did because it was a good watch despite its flaws.
Overall I give it an 8.5 because I feel the story stalled a few times but overall I pretty much liked it. Will I rewatch? Probably.

This is a convoluted story of the path of a fairy to become human, the men who took advantage of her naïve nature, and the man who love her steadfastly until the end. Great premises but the amnesia twist after every rebirth made the female lead unbearable until almost the end. One thing is to be naïve but childish and dumb is another story. The female lead is surrounded by guys that never truly loved her; they were deceitful, self serving, and ended up betraying her trust as she seeks for a lifetime partner. The male lead really saved the drama; he was smart divine doctor, who continuously loved and tried to protect the female lead. Although there are dark characters with darker intentions toward the female lead, the drama is mainly about the female lead and her path to become human and find true love. The leading couple has good fun chemistry and average romantic chemistry due to her childish nature; even when she was taking the lead in the romantic scenes, it was more cute than romantic since many of their kisses were shown as just lips touching and fading in the distance. The drama got better when the leading couple got finally together just to throw another short amnesia twist at the end that, although it was quickly resolved, it caused a rift in the romantic flow. Overall, this is not a bad drama but it fell short of my expectations.

The immortal fairy w/ amnesia and her 3 failed attempts in love | Shows how filthy & nasty men are!

[!!] PLEASE WATCH THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK AND MERCY!

This story is all about Ye Xi and her misfortune in finding true love in the wrong places with the wrong set of men; and how she's been constanly getting deceived by those pretentious men to utilize her for their hidden agendas—For 3 consecutive time by the way! Which is incredibly irritating to be very honest!Once is enough, twice is too much and thrice is overkill!

Above all, I want to officially start this review by giving its possible viewers a piece of good warning and advice... This drama is more than all of the positive reviews you can find in MDL. I picked this show simply because I am a fan of Li HongYi and mainly because of all the good and positive reviews I have read on this site. However, the moment I start watching it and the further I get into it, the more increasingly mad and irritated I am to myself for trusting all those reviews who gave this drama a 9-10 ratings. It felt like I fell on trap and got fraud by how 'terrible' it actually is! I can't believe how people are saying that it is an 'easy watch' drama when I can barely tolerate the first 3 episodes and I just had to blindly go through the succeeding occurences by biting my tongue while writing rants per episode to suppress all my pent up irritations and to at least give it the 'benefit of the doubt' hoping for it to reach its 'better' part which eventually came at around episode 10 or so. Which is almost half of the drama!! Not to mention that the saga of awfulness didn't immediately ended there and it still occasionally appeared till the end of the show. I honestly feel like I need some chill pill after going through all those stuff and it is also the main reason why I took great time to write this section of my review to give warnings and emphasize this dramas lousiness.

Anyways, I will treat the above as my collective description and reaction of the horrific things about this drama and will only give a summary list of the properties I find horrendous about this show below.

× Purple Costumes on Ep.2 looks straight up ugly and tacky.
× Bai Yue's smug look the entire time is justifiable at the end. However, I can never tolerate how he kept on strangling and pushing Ye Xi all those time he can't control/suppress her. Like, can't he do it in a non-physical way?
× Horrible fight scenes and What's with Ep.4? They attacked the Tang Manor like a whole bunch of kids running towards the main gate because school is finally over. Ghad, It sucks! Don't they have acting choreoragphy? and how did they even stomach using that for the final cut!
× Lack of financial support/budget. I was cackling so loud when they show the 1 piece trebuchet at Ep.4. Hahaha!
× Art director of this drama needs to retire. Even the Wanted posters of Ye Xi doesn't look even a bit like her and it was drawn so bad. Geez!

Moving forward to the good parts of the story... I truly think that all my sufferings were paid back with better stuff when Ep 10-11 came; that was also the time my faith for this show had slowly got restored. Better story phasing and away from the confusing and chaotic exposition of the story, mysteries are being addressed and answered, finally getting all the lovey-dovey moments we all have been waiting for and at last! Bai Yue giving his very best to express his love by making efforts to make Ye Xi remember him.

Story - 7.0, This drama could have been 'easy to watch' and even better if Ye Xi just stayed with Bai Yue and bicker with him the whole time while occasionally dealing with some challenges (lovers quarrel) and all those trivialities of the Martial arts world. The thing is, they made it too complex and dramatic not knowing that their capabalities can't measure up to their mission and vision yet... which is sad and disappointing.

Acting/Cast - 7.0, Their acting looks fine but in the wrong places. Lol The scenes/events are not set up yet but the characters are already throwing their final lines. Like, daheck are these people saying? Isn't it too early? and why are things going together all at once like they're short of time and in a time crunch. Therefore, I conclude that it's the lack of proper momentum and bad direction. I like the actors and actresses though (subjectively).

Music - 6.5, I like the opening theme as it exudes playfulness, positive vibes and vibrant energy. However, aside from that, nothing else stood out for me. I can't even remember the BGMs used to the most important scenes. It's either they're not note worthy at all or they just never impacted my watch experience for this drama.

Rewatch Value - 2.0, I'm actually being kind by giving it this rating. I actually don't loathe this drama but instead just hate it as it deserves; since it still has its redemption parts. But, I know for a fact that I can never go through the same agony I suffered just to finish this.

Overall - 6.0, I'm extremely considerate for giving this! Oh wow! This is unexpectedly tough! I scaled it really hard in consideration of its good aspects but I still ended up giving this rating. I would say, Deserve? and I'm not even being too critical or bias or whatnot. This is my genuine rating and feedback after finishing this amateur project and production overall.

Accidental Hilarious Fluff

Rated= 8 ~ 33/50 ~ 6.6
RPG Scene // Mermaid making flower crowns in the Flower Meadow. Sword used as dart practice

After a long deep dive into more serious 40+ ep c-dramas, I honestly think I enjoyed this more than I would have because it reminded of the kind of manga's I enjoyed as a teenager and it was only 22 episodes.

Plot - The overall story is of a Ginseng fairy who keeps finding herself believing in the wrong men while her 'true love' is standing on the outskirts protecting her in secret. We go back and forth, back and forth uncovering the mystery of the past for the first half of the series before moving forward towards a conclusion.
I personally, don't like this method of story telling. I prefer one long flashback and then move on, whereas this one flashes back a few times. That can be a bit disjointing for me as a viewer but I kept watching because, and here's the kicker, I found the whole concept accidentally hilarious. The whole idea of dying and resurrecting without your memories to find a few men who are full blown yandere for you kind of funny. I shouldn't have and I'm pretty sure that wasn't the idea but I'm me, and I did.
Another aspect of the plot is the yearning. There is a fine line for me between unnecessary angst and understandable silent yearning, and I feel like that's really up to the viewer to decide which side they're on. For me, I understood Bai Lu's silence this time. It made sense to me and it was pitiful so for me, it's a silent yearning. I didn't feel stressed or annoyed with characters while watching. The bad guys did bad guy things, and the good guys did good guy things.
As for the ending, if it had been 40 episodes, that last little dilemma would have been a whole new arc LOL The big problem is quickly solved and it's Happy ever after manga ending. I would have liked to have seen Bai Lu's promise to Xi but maybe it has to be skipped now? I wonder how this reality deals with that final reveal which is not really a final reveal. If anything it just cemented that shoujo ending that the clueless, innocent lead had to be told LOL

Characters - The FL might be a character who could easily annoy you though. I viewed her almost like a perpetual 15 year old. Flighty, impulsive and in love with life. The only character she actually falls in love with is our ML. The other characters she's just trying to be a good person to in accordance with her beliefs. However, I didnt feel like she was childish. Just free spirited. She had her own morals and held to them in however she was treated.
Our ML is the glorious Li Hong Yi. I stated in my Blood of Youth review, I would be happy to look at him all day and I didn't lie. That man is Fine. He held a similar vibe as his character in Blood of Youth though. I don't know enough about him or have watched enough shows to say if he feels a little type casted but it kind of suited his character Bai Lu. Just brooding in the background added to his 'tortured prince' sort of character. If that's a character he gets a lot of or is something his good looks plays on, I felt it in this one.
As for the side couple, I'm not normally interested in the side couples because they often feel forced but because this one developed off screen, by the time we get back to them, they're just being cute, so I didnt mind them so much.

Music and Set - The music and set were nothing to stand out to me. I feel like we were outside a lot for this one, but I did love the set pieces for the Valley, Bai Lu's house. It looked very spacious and zen. I think it was the high ceilings. So far, a lot of chinese interior for these types of show tend to be more horizontal and low. Whereas Bai Lu's house seemed to have a lot of open space and breathing room. It looked like something I would live in, here in Europe, only with chinese furniture and decor.

Overall, I think it's one of those shows you'll either enjoy the cuteness or will just feel annoyed. I might be a little biased with this one because it really did feel like a fluffy, romantic pining for you forever kind of story that I used to love as a kid. I didn't feel like there was unnecessary drama which these kind of shows often use. There were a few guys after our FL but it's pretty clear she has no romantic interest, and she stands her ground when she does make up her mind, and the other female character is friendly without any jealous plotting. She's pretty supportive of our FL. There was nothing that created an annoying love triangle arc. Just the usual randomly obsessive characters you get with this sort type of FL character.

A love story that reminds, it is good to remember and take the lessons.

To make it watchable, you must remember that it is a story about a fairy turning into human. Since it is not impossible in real life, you should not expect realism and be more patient to swallow every logic in the story.

Sometimes we love a drama because it meet our expectations (we see what we want to see in the screen). However, a story can serve also as a medium to experiment with ideas, what could be possibly happened to love and relationship when circumstances are not usual.

In this drama, we have a ginseng fairy turning human (Ye Xi) and multiple men in her life. It is difficult at first to follow the storyline because it mixed. It is progressing, but with so many flashbacks. Until episode 14, there is no chronological order, so it is confusing. To be patient that long is not easy for me, even though the romance is quite unique, fresh, and promising for further development.

The good of the story is that it is a contemplatation about human nature. The themes revolve around the deceit & betrayal vs the faithfulness & devotion; selfishness vs selflessness; superficial love that is only sweet in words and promises but backstabbing vs true unconditional love though it is sometimes bitter. Sometimes love is only used as tool for our interests, sometimes it is the real purpose of life.

I began to understand this idea when Ye Xi was dying the second time. She lamented about she finally became human, but in the end she was still eaten by human. She did thousand years of cultivation, longing for a new life which she would be able to live with someone. Actually, she was able to feel the agony, but the problem is she got amnesia and came back to her true nature as a kind, helpful, and trusting person every time she was revived. It is the tragedy that makes us audience feel angry and despair like Bai Yue, how stupid she is! How could she got trapped and betrayed again? Love is not that important when it goes ugly for you, how could your brain only seek for love and repeat the same mistakes?

Fortunately, later she got some conscience and aware of her mistakes. She could distinguish true love from fake one through Bai Yue's devotion and sacrifice to her. As audience, we learn, it is important to remember even the saddest part of our life. As we hate a girl like Ye Xi, we should remember that in real life some girls are like Ye Xi. In this aspect, the story itself empowers us to love our selves more, to be more careful in handling romantic relationship, etc. The moral of this story is the only good aspect of this drama.

After finishing all episodes, it is sad that the story delivery is less sophisticated. The second main lead (Cang Qi) is not interesting at all. The actor played the role is overly dramatic in facial expressions, and he looked too beautiful/ feminine for the role of person in power. It is not explained how Cang Qi rose to power, what is his job in goverment, etc. His obsession to Ye Xi is disgusting, because he was lustful and saw Ye Xi as sexual object. The supporting roles are not help. Their love story is shallow. They are quite comical, but not that funny.

The only make sense person is Bai Yue. He was praise worthy for his ability, ethics, loyalty, and patience. I think it better to let him just died in episode 21 and his love made Ye Xi understood more about true love. His curse is the important thing that push the story toward the end. It is no need to revive him with such a lame mechanism. I personally don't like a story that ends with a deus ex machina. How could a coffin suddenly had such magical power? His death should be the final missing piece that Ye Xi got during her journey to find love and to be a human being, not a fairy.
