Although I gave this a 9 overall, i feel it really deserves a 10 in my books. Wow okay, where so I even start? This drama has everything, from handsome rich billionaires, to (apparent) ugly poor girls and all the love-triangles and crazy ex girlfriends in between. It is definitely the stereotypical Asian drama but if you aren't sick of that sort of thing yet, then this is the drama for you! If you are, then what are you still doing watching Asian dramas? ;)
The acting was amazing! Especially on Ming Dao's part. He played both Junhao and Da ou so completely well that it actually made you believe they could be different people. The female lead... made me want to throw my laptop out the window and never turn on this drama again. HOWEVER, when i did warm up to her after a few episodes she became one of my favorite characters and most of the reason i continued to watch.
The music was not the best but it fit the mood. I think they had like two tracks, one sad and one happy where they would play each episode at their respected parts. I found this amusing more then anything else. reminded me of bof and 'almost paradise'.. XD
Despite there being 30 episodes to this drama, I enjoyed every single one of them. At episode 15, i remember thinking what could they possibly add to this story to fill 15 more episodes? But they somehow magically did! watching the last few episodes I felt so sad knowing it was ending and wishes there could be 15 more.
I would definitely watch this drama again. I'm not the hugest fan of Taiwanese dramas either because I don't know the language as well as Korean and Japanese but this one surprised me :) I would definitely recommend it ^^

This is one of my favourite Taiwanese dramas. It's so funny and comedic but it also has a tiny bit of sappy dramatic parts. However, the over the top comedic elements might be viewed as cheesy for some people. The storyline can be said as stereotypical but it's still very entertaining to watch. Definitely one of the dramas that I would watch all over again !

I am a huge fan of screen junkies' honest trailers and cinema sins' everything wrong with... so I decided to write this review in a style similar to their videos. I call it an EVERYTHING HONEST REVIEW.

In a classic drama about how accidents can bring two otherwise incompatiable people togther comes Prince Turns to Frog. A story that became the foundation of some of the biggest cliches in Taiwanese drama such as main male lead getting amensia(Autumn's Concerto) and a pretty second lead that would be better than the first lead if she wasn't a bitch or pyscho(Just You, Why Why Love, When Loved Walked In, Fated To Love You, Drunken to Love you...you get it).

Meet Tain Yu(Chen Joe) the perfect example of how NOT to be a gold digger as she helps birds fly back into their nest, give useful advice to people, help people in need, and actually works. She is a girl looking for her prince charming despite being an adult in the working world. Meet Shan Jun Hao an arrgoant rich guy who has an inner nice side named Dao Ou. More importantly meet his abs which I cannot show you at this moment. These two unlikely characters will have the love life that is way better than twilight only to be ruined by the two most depressing second lead characters ever. EVER. Only to be saved by plot conviences and sweet loving words.

I can't lie. I love this drama. It gets a pass for being cliche considering that it came out in a time where it wouldn't be considered cliche(2005). Also I hope you guys know I am kidding about the whole incompatiable things. Honest trailers are typically saracastic... and I kind of got sidetracked.

So grab a friend or popcorn whichever is more convient and watch this show today!
Cliches
* main guy is rich and the main girl is poor
*second lead girl has a dark past
*second lead guy has a dark past
*second lead guy doesn't get the girl
*main guys relative dislikes main girl and her family
*main girl can't cook
*second personality of the main lead is more likeable
*main girl cleans up nicely with a pretty dress
*main girl sibling is mentally challenged/health condition
*second lead girl falls for second lead guy
*male leads play basketball to fight over the girl(wait that did not happen in this one)
Counter Total: 10

This is a romance drama with the added twist of memory loss, business feuds and light-hearted comedy.
It definitely makes you laugh and touches your heart.
At times I felt that the lead was hard to understand because of his double role but you get sucked in by the romance-comedy theme of this drama and so you end up watching it till the end.
It's definitely a must see if you want those romance boy-meets-girl, boy-girl-faces-a-twist, boy-girl-strive-to-be-together, mixed in with the overlay of comedy and light-heartedness.

Classic plot but at least the actors saved it. I'm in for entertainment so I was able to stand the drama. I was entertained not only of the main leads' acting but also the rest of the characters. I find the delivery and atmosphere of the drama light and fun which is great for my taste. I was able to forgive the old classic plot of the drama because the actors and their acting and the execution of the drama is fun and entertaining. I also particularly like the music or OST. I can definitely re-watch it if I want to whether I'm alone or with people.

I happened upon a review that said this drama was the best of all time. To me that title isnt given lightly so i decided to watch and see exactly how bad Prince Turns to Frog really was. I was wrong, and the drama is quite good, but not worthy of the best of all time title.
Bad stuff first- the drama really sports every drama cliche you know and have seen. from memory loss to illegitimate children, this drama annoyingly touches every one of them. The music/soundtrack is God-awful, i cringed each time that boy band started singing. Although the premise is cool, its also really annoying how no one and i mean NO ONE ever looked where they were going, i know the director was trying to create "just missed" moments but they "just" got me agitated. Who really pulls up a car and never sees who is on the curb?? A lot of the other things i hated in the drama were really my pet peeves like: the wardrobe was just ignorant, and a lot of the characters just wore the same clothes with different jackets, and only some of the characters were properly fitted. I know the drama aired in 2005, so i didnt expect much on technology but they could have at least shaped a few eyebrows and whitened a few teeth.
Even though i found all this annoying, the drama is addictive and funny. Even though i knew there would be a great ending the characters and their foolishness made me want to stay for the ride. I watched the turn of events with a few surprises, melodramatics, and horrid fake fight scenes to see the end. To its credit there was no super evil mother or a really bad antagonist that upset me to not watch making it really easy to breeze through episode after episode. The first 2 episodes has a really slow start but it got a lot better. Yes it was a good watch, not great but still worthwhile.

This drama is really worth to watch. If you're looking for a romantic comedy with yet some dark and sad moments this one is done for you :D

First of all the story: even if there is the usual rich man falling for a poor woman, it seems more like it was done so that it's different from what everyone is used to. And all along the plot brought you with itself. Well nearly all along because there is a moment where i thought that it was beginning to get boring (and that's why i didn't give it a higher score) but some times later it got me again.

Next the cast: i didn't know most of the cast and i was wonderfully surprised. The lead actors are just great, there is a chemistry between Ming Dao & Chen Joe that made me dream! And Zhao Joyce, and Wang Sam i didn't expect them to act so well, i did not ever see them before that though... Anyway Joyce just amazed me and Sam got me heartbroken. The supports were good as well, so funny i think that they gave most of the joyfulness in the drama x)

Then let's talk about music: all of you know that in music as much as in other taste it depends on yourself. For me whose not fond of Chinese or Taiwanese music (most of the time there still are some that i love) i didn't like the opening at all. I just got used to it after the 30 episodes but that's all.

I don't think i'll rewatch this drama before a long long time. It was good but still not enough for me to watch again right after finishing it.

The best love story ever!!

I don't know how many times I already had watched this drama and it never makes me tired. I love all the character in this drama except for the 2nd lead heroin. I really don't like her. Well, actually I cannot blame her. She only follow the script and the director.

Until now I still remember all the songs in this drama. During this era, Ming Dao and Sam Wang really caught every girl's eyes. And maybe during this time, maybe every girl have a dream of meeting a frog in hoping that the frog is really a prince.

For me, this drama is just a perfect masterpiece. I never see any Taiwanese drama nowadays who can beat this drama. I really recommended this drama. It will make you laugh, it will make you smile, it will make your heart flutter, it will make you dreaming of meeting such a kind guy. Anyway, I would rather give 10 stars! Thank you to this drama which is success to move my heart. ☺️

My ultimate guilty pleasure since I was 10 and I still watch it till now! The story could transition from fluff to comedy to sentimental just like that. I found the comedy elements were weird but it was fine as long as I felt entertained enough.

Ming Dao nailed both characters very well (and he was so fine, I love his manly features, thanks). Shan Jun Hao was dreamy and arrogant (I love his arrogancy tho), yet Dang Ou was so lovely & delicate & everyone's pet (we stan!). Joe Chen is like another Gong Hyo Jin, the queen of rom-com! I love her in this, no doubt. In addition, their chemistry was a top-notch (we stan!)

Ost lmao. I like the songs tho I still couldn't get over the main song's music video LOL what do you expect from early 00s?

Overall, I will never get bored of this light drama!

Overall Review: Cliché but brilliant, The Prince Who Turns Into Frog.

Is the title a misnomer? No.

Brilliant.

This was one of my starting Taiwanese dramas, and to be fair since I wasn't too knowing of cliches I liked the whole plot, but what I didn't realize at the time was the plot included a lot of brillaintness and it wasn't all too cliche as I thought. For my 27th or more time rewatching this, I heard that Netlix had this off their shelves on July 31st so I decided to make a review before I'm stuck rewatching this in a poor quality. Ah, Netflix I trusted you.

This drama is very cliché, but also brilliant in a way they made fun of their own troupes to be honest and that was refreshing.

Double Amnesia handled in a funny way? Yes.

I have to give it to Ming Dao this time, I'm sorry Joe Chen I love you (in a non homo way, support lgbtq+ but I'm straight haha) and you are a great actress. Ming Dao, to this day I still remain as one of your fans.

2015 Moonlight was starting off with her obsession to Asian dramas, after encountering her first drama In Between (Taiwanese) she was hooked. This was her 4th drama, and one that strike her into the world of clichés as Moonlight had watched fairly refreshing dramas without many clichés before.

Let me start, Ming Dao acted perfectly as Shan Jun Hao and Dang Ou, that even our female lead had to accept that "they were not the same person." Jun Hao was our typical male lead, but I also thought that the writers were brilliant for making him this guy who was a typical male lead but you can see from the very start that there is more to him than our typical male lead. Dang Ou was the start of basically nice guy male leads at least in cliché dramas, these two could not be more than polar opposites and your probably not aware that the same person could be polar opposites unless they are diagnosed with Bipolar depression, to be honest I would have though Jun Hao was without the memory loss part.

Joe Chen and Ming Dao had amazing chemistry together, yes of course apart from the par kisses since it was 2005, Joe Chen has good chemistry with both Ming Dao, and Sam Wang. Though I prefer her with the former, I really enjoyed their chemistry and they are one of my cutest OTP's in T-drama land. Though, I might have to say Joe Chen has really enjoyable chemistry with all of her male lead's I could say she is a rare actress who was chemistry with everyone.

Of course, again we have our fair share of clichés and I think to truly enjoy this, you might need to be at the start of your drama career or looking for something normal in the fair of dramas (Cliché).

Even though this was very cliché, I thought they were brilliant in fact another drama which was brilliant but very cliché is My Name is Kim Sam Soon which is GREAT, you could also see that with our female lead here of course she has a heart of pure gold, but what's better is that she doesn't show it she conceals her emotions, she might come off as nosy, mean and annoying but once she meets Dang Ou who is a memory loss situation you can tell that she isn't someone who is a gold digger but someone who truly will protect her loved ones even if it means taking the bullet or losing a rich guy for them. Great acting by Joe Chen.

This is was a mega hit in Taiwan and I could see why.

Rewatch Value+ Music + Final Thoughts : Though it's generic and the music might be absolutely hilarious along with the drama, the romance and character will take you in for a brilliant surprise. To be honest, I'm not a person who even remotely looks for a romantic comedy at any time because I've fallen into the melodramatic terms a long time ago, but when I feel sad and when I need that cure of happiness I come to this to rewatch it, and since I've rewatched it 27 times, yes I'm crazy honestly if this isn't one of your first dramas I don't think you would be able to rewatch as many times as me, but 16 year old Moonlight went crazy for this mess, and 21 year old Moonlight is still crazy about this mess. It's truly a great feeling reviewing one of your starter dramas. Of course, I am a queen at rewatching stuff too. So when I heard Netflix was taking this off their shelf, I'm really sad so what can be better than rewatching it crazily. Moonlight, and other viewers brace yourself for poor quality whenever your going to watch this from now on unless you decide to start it right this moment, and I would recommend to do exactly that because you would rewatch it straight after because you would be sad Netflix is taking this off their shelves, MORE REWATCHING YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing can cheer you up more, I promise unless they are cute cats on youtube or your favorite Kpop Idol. Okay Enough, I made a long review you don't have hear more nonsense.

So Cringey

This drama has really good reviews, so I really want to give it a chance. I'm only 8 episodes in, and it's 31 long. I don't know how I am going to get through it. It's so incredibly stupid; the female lead is a horrible person who doesn't deserve love; all the women are loud, violent, greedy, and screachy; it's very cliche; several characters can't act to save their lives... must I continue? No I am not being harsh. In fact, I am overlooking a few things (like make-up and set design) simply because this was filmed 20 years ago. But unbelievably improbable scenarios happening in EVERY episode is not OK.
