It was about a philosophy rather than about a story

idk tbh. It wasn't an exciting story about a mysterious man that solves world hunger. It was a story about a man. That was all. Not about who he was, but about why he became the way he was and learned to let go. It was incredibly beautiful and calming but I did get bored. But not because it was bad. Simply because it was not exciting. Nor was it meant to be.
It didn’t create anticipation or excitement around his past. It just revealed his past to explain him. Not to be dramatic, but to explain a mindset, explain a person. There was no “omg this dude is a god” cuz that wasn’t the focus. It focused on his personal journey in a way that made it less grand. The ending didn’t hit that hard, it was just kinda like "huh" because everyone already died. It made sense tbh. I have ADHD and if it ain’t gripping then it ain’t gripping, but it was really good and made me think more than most other shows. It’s just a story about a man and perhaps about oneself.

Luo YunXi Slays Again!

In Whispers of Fate, Luo Yunxi delivers a controlled and sincere performance, showing subtle emotions and strong screen presence. Some scenes are limited by the script and editing, but he remains the drama’s most compelling element. Even when the script gives limited layers, Luo Yunxi maintains stable chemistry with co-stars.
He doesn’t overshadow them but also holds the emotional center of the drama.

When Love and Power Collide

Episode 15 of Water Dragon Chant feels like a flame long hidden beneath the ashes — suddenly blazing to life. The clash between emotion and duty hits its peak, and every move from the characters carries the scent of either betrayal or sacrifice.
This episode finally peels back the layers of hidden tension; every glance is charged with secrets. Luo Yunxi once again delivers a masterful performance — calm and composed on the surface, yet a storm of pain and doubt brews inside him.
The director keeps the pacing sharp and deliberate, weaving poetic visuals with mounting tension, like a sweet poison that seeps into the viewer’s heart.
Episode 15 isn’t just a dramatic high point — it’s the moment we realize that in Water Dragon Chant, nothing is accidental. Every choice comes with a price.

A Visual Epic of Redemption and Destiny

Whispers of Fate is a fantasy wuxia drama that combines martial arts and mystical elements to tell a story of betrayal, redemption, and destiny. It follows Tang Li Ci, a swordsman gifted with a rare “sound-kill” technique, who is wrongly accused of a massacre and forced to clear his name while uncovering dark conspiracies among sects and immortals. The drama stands out for its breathtaking visuals, including cinematic fight sequences and magical effects, as well as its emotional depth, with Luo Yunxi delivering a powerful performance that captures both vulnerability and strength. Across its forty episodes, the series balances intense action with heartfelt character arcs, making it a visually stunning and emotionally resonant tale of fate and sacrifice.

Worth to watch

Not a cringe drama not like others xianxia, as I barely watch xianxia but this one is one of the top xianxia I've watch. Prolly you will like it after finishing the frist quarter episode of the drama since, it really worth to watch it and I'm sure while waiting of them to have drama again same cast either Wuxia or Xianxia or in the modern world again I will keep re-watch this drama.

Worth watching!

Well, I don’t like really much Luo Yunxi at first. I first saw him in Till the End of the Moon. Then I started to like his acting. In this title, no word is enough to describe how he is excellent . I felt a lot of emotion , the fact that I like this drama. It’s not a romance and that makes it more attractive and unique. Maybe it has a happy ending but for me a tragedy one. All actors and actresses are stunning and fantastic. Give stronger emotional wave. Watch it and feel it.

An ambitious epic fantasy transcending time and space

Whispers of Fate is an epic odyssey set in historical fantasy world named Shen Zhou (an ancient alias for China or literally God’s earth). It stars Luo Yunxi as Tang Lici, reluctant hero with mysterious origins.

The series opens with a red wedding, a man who looks like Tang Lici crashes a wedding and kills everyone to save the bride. As the story progresses, we realise all is not what it seems in this story where shapeshifters, wizards and necromancers bound. Tang Lici claims not to be a good man, but perhaps he has the purest intentions of all.

(Minor Spoilers Ahead, proceed with care)
To add to the mystery, Tang Lici has partially lost the memories of where he came from. He was found as a naif and adopted by an elder sect brother Fang Zhou who trained and educated him in not just how to harness his indomitable inner power but also the principles of what makes a good person via the teachings in the Three Character Classic. Unfortunately Fang Zhou later dies in mysterious circumstances and fellow disciple Liu Yan discovers this just as Tang Lici is digging out Fang Zhou’s heart.

This is the beginning of the feud between Liu Yan and Tang Lici, the former sect brothers turn deadly enemies. Unable to kill Tang Lici, Liu Yan sets out to destroy his reputation and everyone around him. The tussle between love and hate is visceral for these 2 and as they travel through Shen Zhou outwitting each other. Tang Lici learns more about himself and his origins along with the audience, and ultimately has to make a decision that will change world.

Whispers of Fate is a wildly ambitious and courageous project for a small production company like Otter, casting a lead actor like Luo Yunxi who although widely acclaimed for his talents and very popular in China, does not hail from a talent agency with broadcast company backing, in a big budget extravaganza. The team has created a multi-dimensional world crossing time and space, imagined from a Chinese cultural standpoint, harnessing the talents of alumni from the team’s last international hit Till the End of the Moon (also starring Luo).

The Production and Costume design drew inspiration from different periods of Chinese culture from the Bronze age onwards, and the visual effects team hail from Chinese blockbuster movie The Wandering Earth.

The series echos many familiar fantasy adventure odysseys (some scenes wouldn’t be out of place in Dune or Game of Thrones, but written and designed from a Chinese cultural perspective with Wuxia genre as it’s jumping board, the series constantly delights and intrigues as each episode opens new imaginative realms. Whispers of Fate stands out in Chinese dramas’s sea of period romances and short viral dramas, and i sincerely hope it performs well in its native and international markets. A daring leap like this deserves to be encouraged in order for the drama industry to keep imagining and keep creating.

Superb production for a lousy story

The cast is fantastic, the visuals - outstanding. Costumes, CGI, music - a real feast. And all this is completely wasted to tell a lousy story with way too many subplots, secondary characters, turns and twists. There is just too much of everything in this narrative: going back in time, visitors from another world, amnesias, fake identities ... you name it. Unfortunately, all of those elements are just thrown down and scrambled without any consistent, premeditated order.
And in the middle of it all you have Luo Yunxi playing superbly, looking so handsome, doing his awsome ballet with weapons and getting such an unsatisfying story line. He could've had a meaningful relationship with a girl, but no - she left. He could've had a meaningful bromance with Fang Yilun, but no - all the moments they have together are way to brief and there is just no time to develop this plot in depth, because of lots of other secondary narratives. He has a group of friends but finally is unable to save any one of them, so the only thing to do is reset the timeline and just disappear from their lives.
What a stupid, anticlimactic ending for LYX.
I am really sorry for him, because he is such a fantastic actor, so fitting to play in costume dramas (like he was born in hanfu), but he is so often wronged by the script.

Fated Twist?

The surprise in question? Well for a long time watcher of wuxia, costume and fantasy drama i must say this drama has a lot of nice costumes and cinematography that feeds the eyes and leaves one in awe . The actors did execute their part pretty well and will leave you watches eager to watch another episode. However the progression of the drama was slow from the couple starting episodes that caused many watches to drop this drama early and i totally understand them. Even though that was an issue for me I did manage to make it half way through the drama and find it funny that everything falls into place and progression of the story occurs from here on to the ending episodes.

Is the drama romance heavy? I’d say no. But expect a lot of BROMANCING

One of the Best Acts This Year, Loved Everything About this Show!!

There are very few instances when you left mesmerized by a character, mysterious, alluring & yet dependable!

These words can be alluded to describe Tang Lici, some of them at least. Shredded in mystery, from the start to end; the show portrays Tang Lici as a character who is as vulnerable as his strength. We are often left wondering about his supersonic strength, ability to heal quickly and most specifically his past. Who is he? Is he from this world? If not, then why is he striving to protect this world? Tang Lici can best be described as a man whose entire existence screams dominance and yet sociable but cunning. From the first episode, the show revolves hugely around Tang Lici and his odd group of motley friends that he picks up on the way. Each of them have a strong bonding with Tang Lici, as he solves problems related to the martial world, tackles his ex-boss friend who is mostly in a psychotic phase and tries to revive his dead master. He does this and much more, everything impossible from a normal man’s perspective.
