Transcendent Love Story

IFYLITA is a moving & affirming story that shows how the power of unconditional love transcends time. Calling it a “BL” does this gorgeous series a disservice. It elevates the BL genre & draws you into a rich and layered world full of complex characters. Bright & Nonkul have simmering chemistry as Yai & Jom, eclipsed only by a mutual respect & love that never fails. You cheer as their relationship grows & cry as others try to tear them apart. A must-watch for anyone who loves Storytelling. 10/10

The Best BL I’ve ever watched

This drama is really important to me and the only one I am so passionate for, and no, it’s not because I haven’t seen many dramas, but it’s captivating story, perfect acting and chemistry, gorgeous cinematography and such a sweet and lovely relationship.
The NC scenes are so perfect as well I am personally not the type to care for that but they were placed perfectly and their charm and chemistry are beyond what I have seen before, it feels so really and genuine, the passion and desire was so well done.
So If you are interested in period drama with angst and a slower pacing this is the 100% show for you, but if you are looking for fast and easy show this will definitely not be for you and that’s okay, just try to give credit where credit is due and the production quality was beyond what other BLs have given so far.

10/10 would watch it again but...

I love this series so much. It is one of my favourite BLs of all time. I've watched it twice now, and I have to applaud the entire production team for their relentless effort to bring real cinema to our homes. This series feels worthy of being watched on the big screen because it uses smart and delicate camera shots, the editing is phenomenal, and the music fits each scene beautifully. It's one of the few productions where I feel like that every actor and actress was chosen perfectly. Not only did Nonkul and Bright convince me of their acting talent, but also young actors like Guide and actresses like June made the difference for me. I want to emphasize though that Nonkul and Bright outdid themselves in these complex roles. They've done an amazing job. Their chemistry is undeniable, and you could see and feel how much work they've put in into building these characters. This series doesn't only revolve around our main couple and their love story but tackles difficult topics like abuse, patriarchal structures, abortion, and (in)justice. How can you pursue of your dreams and desires in a society where you're viewed as an outcast because of the person you love? I love the diverse representation of the LGBTQ+ community as it's not your stereotypical gay couple, but we also have a lesbian couple, a bi-/pansexual character and a person who is trans.

There is only one thing I have to criticize, which is the penultimate scene where Khun Yai's modern version shows up at the Phalatip house, where Jom sits and cries while reading Khun Yai's letter from almost 90 years ago. I don't understand how modern Yai was able to remember Jom. It's apparently Khun Yai's spirit that awakened in him, otherwise I cannot explain it. I would've preferred just to see modern Yai enter the house, both of them locking eyes and end scene. That would've left us to our imagination of how these two get to know each other again in modern times, and we could've rest assured that yes they have found each other again. Happy End after all. Maybe it is something I only understand once I read the novel. If so, I'll edit this post lmao

You must go see what you haven't seen

You must go see what you haven't seenYou must go see what you haven't seenYou must go see what you haven't seenSay important things three times!!!I originally wanted to wait until the update was completed before I could catch up, but I couldn't help but watch 11 episodes. Hahahaha, thank you very much to the production team for presenting us with an excellent and beautiful play. The scenes, costumes, music, and other aspects of the play are all just right. It's really a very, very, very beautiful play. I don't know how to describe it anymore. Bright and Nonkul are really like walking out of a book, their acting skills are really amazing. They have played the roles of Khun Yai and Jom, and their relationship is really loving. I am truly moved by their relationship. Watching them develop step by step is really exciting (there are many exciting parts in the drama that make people crash into bed). Thank you very much to the director and production team for showing me a different BL drama. It's really, really, really beautiful. For those of you who haven't seen it before, you must go and watch it!!!! Thank you again to the director. The visuals are really beautiful, just like a pictorial newspaper. Any screenshot can be used as a wallpaper. I really hope to have a second installment and look forward to future development. Thank you also to the production team, everyone behind the scenes has contributed to creating this drama for us. I don't know what kind of visual experience the 12 episodes will bring, I hope I won't cry too hard.

It feels like you're being transported into a storybook

It feels like you're being transported into a storybook. You go along piecing together the history through sketches that the main character (Jom) finds in an old house in present day Thailand. But it's just sketches with no context. It has no value to those outside the story.

When Jom gets into a car accident, he wakes up in the 1930s. As you are watching, you arent sure what is real anymore because Jom toes the line between past and present. But, maybe it's all a dream and all in his imagination? But, the scenes look familiar and you realize he is playing out the story behind those sketches and my gosh IT IS A BEAUTIFUL STORY.

It feels so nice watching a drama with characters who are genuinely good. (Even though I do like my share of toxicity at times). But both Jom and Yai wear their hearts on their sleeves. They love fully and earnestly and that is so refreshing to see. And my gosh Im only 6 episodes in and I know this is going to destroy me and Im going to end up sobbing. But, do yourself a favor and watch this show!!! Anytime I see these two on screen, I get immediate butterflies. They perfectly portray the feeling of falling in love.

Slow as treacle

If you’re into historicals then you’ll probably love this. But by the rave reviews it’s received you’d think this was the best BL ever. It isn’t. What it is is a very pretty drama in a historical setting.

This is glacially slow and also peppered with lots of random violence and S/A against women. Which a lot of people will yell is ‘period appropriate’ and yes that’s true but isn’t necessary as a plot device to show a guy is evil. There are better, smarter ways to do that.

Pick it up if you like historicals and beautiful cinematography don’t if you don’t.

Not the best BL series 2023 by far...

What I like:
production quality
costumes
music
most acting

What I dislike:
The ending; yes it's fantasy and so on, but it's not believable.
Jom - he is sometimes docile, sometimes mature. Only in the finale after "returning" he is much more believable.
Stereotype evil Robert, he is too plain, just a 08/15 bad character from one of the cheap novels published every week, no depth, no other side of him, just 10 pages worth of the 60 pages.
Story-Plotholes: While Yai falling in love was shown for a long time, Jom just did it out of the blue, overcoming his trauma from ep 1 in a blink of an eye. To be gay in early 20th century was by far not as easy as it's depicted in this story. Yai confesses he loves Jom and the father was relativly mild., compared to other series where the family explodes even today. There were always exceptions to the rule but it makes this point of the story not believable.
Pacing: After Robert is removed from the series everything is dragged on an on which made me skip some scenes.
Yai with silly Mustache

Summary:
While the production quality was top notch, music was very fitting, the acting overall very good, the setting something unique, the ending unbelievable and the preview of a second season unnecessary, this show is a mixed bag. Jom should have been more struggeling and maybe slowly falling in love in episode 7 with the first spicy scene in episode 8. But of course they could have paced the show faster with some serene scenes inbetween. If there is a second season I hope they will not repeat the same mistakes they did this time where script and direction was sometimes weak.

A gorgeous and heart breaking masterpiece

I haven’t been as moved by any other BL like I was with IFYLITA, the passion it was made with truly shows, It’s beautiful in every way, the way it was shot so elegantly makes you truly feel there in 1928 . Bright and Nonkul did a splendid job with the acting, tension and chemistry; the love scenes are the best I’ve ever seen, they are sensual and relevant to the story, not just for gratuity.
YaiJom love was so lovely and sweet their character are so well developed I felt immersed in the story even repeating it many times.
Even though I know not everyone is going to feel the same way I do, I want to at least spread the word of the drama that changed me in hopes someone else will find it as endearing as I did, so if you can do give it a try.

A new take on BL

The series is a beautiful new take on a BL story. I did really enjoy this series a lot as it takes on you a rollercoaster of emotions. The actors, location, and costumes are amazing. There are a few down parts to this series, as there are a lot of castes to remember who is who. Some of the storylines were annoying and not needed at all. The whole ex situation was very annoying and I hated that he forgave his loser ex and his girlfriend because of their past lives. No matter what he was not worth coming back in the end and there was no point in forgiving him, karam did its job. I did not like the father and brother-in-law and to be honest that time period was a very sad time to live. There were a few over-dramatic moments that looked and felt unrealistic. I wish James and Ming got to shine a bit more. The biggest issue was the end, which was horrible with lots of unanswered questions and I hate when a movie leaves you with more questions than answers. I get that the company is leading the way to a season two maybe but I hate the open ending, there was a better way to introduce a second season. The series has beautiful storytelling with the main couple I do wish they grow the relationship more than focus on the side characters. Sadly I did find myself fast-forwarding a bit to get to parts I really wanted to see as there are a few times it is boring and dragging on. I love the main couple's chemistry and wish they developed it more. This series was a nice start to a fresh look to the BL series. I wish it showed more growth and better flow, as felt slow at some point and fast at others. I do hope to see the main couple again.

Heartfelt Series & Amazing acting

I was in complete dilemma on why Jom looks so familiar and when I stalk him, now I know why? HOW DID THEY MANAGE TO CAST HIM LIKE ????? I mean this in a good way ahha. I mean Nonkul is so adorable in the series but not in a cringe way. His acting is so damn perfect that I actually having a hard time in holding back my tears especially the last 2 episodes of this series. The way he is portraying Jom is beautiful and makes us the watchers totally understand from his point of view. His tears are valid and I have no complain about his characters. I think he is playing Jom with his own way and perfectly. ANYWAY, BRIGHT THO- UGHHH So handsome. LOL IM SORRY But we can't just forget about Bright. Though, one complain about Khun Yai is that he is a coward. He should have tried to reconnecting with his dad, have a heart to heart talk instead of letting Jom did all the work. But still, i think its because Khun Yai is a soft spoken person and very gentle, so he tend to feel like "its okay. Time will heal everything'.

I am a bit confused at the end of the series though but when I read the explanation from this page then I finally understand. It turns out that the Khun Yai that in the present is related to Khun Yai's younger brother? But anyhow, he is reincarnated to be with Jom. I am happy with the ending BUT WHEN THERE IS POST CREDIT- I AM ALL... UGHH!!!! STAPH ITT ALREADYYYY!!! I cannot deal with any of these ANGST SHIT ANYMORE...!! Please give them more series tho. Their chemistry is something else. Can I just say that I have nothing against the plot except for the relationship between Khun Yai and his father? It seems like they are lacking in closure.

Anyway, if you want a break from the mainstream plot of romance, please do watch this series! <3

Finally!!

This is the first show I have heard everyone say it's amazing that actually lives up to the hype! The story was amazing, the cast was amazing!! This show will now live in my top five right along with Until we meet again. Seriously stop reading reviews and go watch it! I promise you will not be disappointed. It took me forever to find somewhere to watch it but after a lot of searching I finally found it on KissAsian. Lots of pop up ads but one hundred percent worth it. Can't find the special episode but apparently no one can find it.

Give me the season 2 and watch it to experience the art of classic

Where to begin the series was perfect only problem it had was confusing ending and not confirming the season 2 even though it's been months after it aired.
Acting was good the character development was given to almost all characters introduced but it had ending moved towards to feel more of a sad but they had a twist to the end which is like what the dash is happening in the screen.
It had wibe of kdrama like mr.queen or the scarlet love so if like those wonder what will happen if it's bl here the show. Also the ending is a open door so don't watch if have anxiety problem.
