Jung Hae In x Jung So Min superiority!

What a cute show!! This is the first kdrama in a looong time that I found myself hooked on week after week. I lapped up all the bonus Youtube content too (that Elle interview had chemistry off the charts). So Min's "Because this is my first life" is my favourite drama of all time, and Jung Hae In is SUCH a treat to watch in romcoms (One Spring Night is probably my favourite of his).

Strangely, it took me a little while to get to the last episode, which felt like pure fluff. I liked the push-and-pull early on, and I didn't even mind the most melodramatic plot lines (which were usually tidied up within an episode or two, much like an American sitcom). I laughed and I cried, which is all I can really ask for.

I was particularly pleased with the exes in the story — I'm glad that they weren't annoying recurring characters, and the way their past relationships played out felt fresh and mature. I wish Seok Ryu's reason for leaving the US weren't so complex though — the burnout would've been enough, and that would've made for a stronger and more realistic statement than all the other circumstances that were revealed afterwards. Another choice that I didn't love was Dan Ho's family circumstances. This is a drama with Jung Hae In, for crying out loud! Erase the stigma and become more accepting of death, divorce, etc. instead of presenting the most tragic backstories ever.

Another thing that disappointed me (surprisingly!) was the chemistry. There was so much potential early on (that pool scene? omg!), and weirdly, even more chemistry in some of the interviews. But when the love really got rolling, we were treated to some awkward closed-mouth kisses. The teasing and banter evaporated, and was replaced by overly sweet honeymoon-phase talk. At least we got glimpses of the couple coming back to earth by the end.

The set was pretty, and the foreshadowing was good. I enjoyed the drama overall, but I wouldn't call it a memorable, all-time great... which is too bad, since these two actors have the chops to provide that kind of impact. The script was a bit.of a let-down in that regard (or maybe some of the directorial choices were off). Either way, this drama was solid and satisfying, but with minor adjustments, could've soared to another level.

Love from the UK

I enjoyed Love Next Door even though I sometimes threw a cushion at the screen. It wasn't perfect but I would recommend everyone to watch it. I have looked forward to seeing it every week but I wish Netflix didn't hold back episodes like it does. I have watched other series on week nights which is a shame ...
Actors from the smallest to the older were lovely and there were no weak links.
For scripting and direction, I hope there will be a part 2 - in which case I would like to see more passion and dialogue time for the main leads. If the parents can be nice in the end, there is no need for them to be like ogres in the beginning and being more human suited them.
Don't waste such gems like Jung Hae-min and Jung So-min - making them just kiss and hold hands for weeks and weeks when the poor lad has been waiting for years just doesn't seem realistic!

The premise of the story is elegantly simple and absolutely captivating.

I really like this show. It's fresh, spontaneous, funny, and entertaining. The chemistry between the leads is amazing, and they look great together. Jung So Min's portrayal of a sassy, strong, and energetic girl with wit is magnetic, especially with the male lead. Jung Hae In's striking looks are hard to miss, but his calm and deep vibe makes him even more attractive and exciting, without being pretentious. The story's premise is simple, but I think the focus on the characters and their development within complicated Korean families makes it interesting. The dynamic and pace of the story so far make it much more enjoyable. I truly love the characters and the story. 💕

Easily one of the best (if not the best) dramas for me!!

As someone who barely moves past the first episode of any drama, there was not a single episode where I felt the need to drop LND!! As with any other script, even this one was not perfect but honestly, when I look back everything somehow fell into place and it felt like even certain flaws were acceptable. I have no idea how I'm going to move on from the show because I have been giving almost all of my free time to it! Seungryu, Somin and Haein made the weekends so much more fun! It's going to take a while for me to get over this drama!! Watching LND has been an adventure I would not mind experiencing all over again!!

One of the best of all times!!!

In my opinion this kdrama was very realistic, the story was veryy realistic, things that actually happen in real life to ordinary people, they all were ordinary people anyway, a group of people who loved each other and helped each other be better in every aspect. the main leads chemistry is unquestionable, they look soo happy and cute together i cant😭 the second lead couple too, their story is also soo unique i love it. i wish we had more of them tho☹️
just like they said in the last ep, every experience that u have and every person that u meet makes u who u are and that’s definitely true.
the friendship of the lavender group too omg i loved them, they were real friends, stayed together through up and downs and made their dreams come true together😕
i really enjoyed watching this, it was never boring, has the right pace, the perfect writing and the perfect actors, it will forever be one of my favorites🫶🏼

love happiness and reality

it is a must watch, very relatable show. happy ending makes it me to eatch mote since thats how we should be living this is world and society.
message of this series around how your strength is your family and friends around you makes it even more special.
people these days tendency not to share their problems and difficulties, and just try to deal with them alone. which I think was very well conveyed, if family is with you will get through the toughest part of life easily. try not to ignore love

The series you need to see !

Through the story of two childhood friends you will laugh, cry, reflect on friendship, family and yourself. Thanks to the talented actors, the episodes follow one another at the speed of a smile. We only want to watch it all again. We only have one regret, not being able to rediscover this gem of a series as if it were the first time.

i will highly recommend everyone to watch this drama

LoveNextDoor is not your series if you are looking for a series unrealistic green flags. It speaks about how to handle miscommunication, admission of unchangeable situation, and embrace imperfection. Too brilliant for #JungSoMin #JungHaeIn for their roles 👏

One thing I love about love next door is how the characters are realistic, they are not perfect and all have flaws as humans.

I am very much grateful to them for the amazing end of summer this year. Tonight, I have a last episode to go for and I am already on the clou nine. Let's look forward to last episode guys

More Than a Rom-Com: A Deep Dive into Love and Life

*Love Next Door* is the kind of drama that sneaks up on you. You start expecting a light-hearted rom-com, ready to be charmed by the bickering "friends to lovers" trope, but what you get is a deep dive into complex family dynamics, existential questions, and a side of free therapy. 🎢 It's the type of show that gives you butterflies, a touch of annoyance, and maybe even a few "I need to rethink my life" moments. And, oh boy, did it deliver all of that and more.

At first glance, it seems like a simple slice-of-life rom-com, but beneath that cozy exterior lies a drama packed with introspection and emotional weight. The story beautifully explores the scars of growing up neglected, feeling the pressure to succeed, and the awkward art of rebuilding relationships that never really took off. It asks questions like, "Can I ever be more than my parents' pride and joy?" and, "Why do dreams feel like luxuries for the privileged?" In other words, *Love Next Door* doesn’t just aim for your heartstrings—it goes straight for your soul. 💔

Now, let’s talk about the characters. On paper, Seung Hyo and Seok Ryu sound like your typical K-drama leads—she’s ambitious and independent, and he’s a little self-centered and emotionally closed-off. But the writers took it a step further by giving them real flaws that affected their relationships in ways that felt... too real. Seok Ryu’s fierce independence is admirable, but is it always a good thing? And Seung Hyo’s tendency to view everyone’s problems through how they affect *him*? Oh, we’ve all been guilty of that at some point. 🤨

Admittedly, Seok Ryu's journey was more fleshed out than Seung Hyo’s. It felt like *her* story, and while he was important, he wasn’t always the star of his own show. It's a common K-drama imbalance, but it didn't take away from the overall experience—it just made Seok Ryu's arc feel more impactful. Still, I wasn’t fully sold on their transition from friends to lovers. One minute they were bickering, the next they were in love, and I couldn’t help but think, “Wait, when did *that* happen?” But hey, maybe I blinked too long during a lip-biting scene. 😅💋

Speaking of lip-biting... Jung Hae In. Need I say more? If watching him swim, bite his lip, and navigate complicated emotions doesn’t get you hooked, I don’t know what will. His character may have been a bit whiny at times, but let’s be real—JHI could probably make even whining look charming. Meanwhile, Jung So Min was equally compelling, despite her character’s tendency to yell a bit too much for my taste. But in the end, her relatability and depth stole the show for me.

Now, let's throw some love to the supporting cast because they truly *made* this drama. The parents? Their stories were just as captivating as the main leads. In fact, I found myself more invested in their complicated relationships at times than I was in the main romance. The subtle friendship between the mothers? Chef’s kiss. 👩‍❤️‍👩 And Jo Han Chul’s portrayal of Bae Geun Sik? Well, let’s just say I cried when he cried and laughed when he laughed. That man deserves all the awards. 🏆

But hey, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. The drunk scenes and occasional over-the-top yelling took up a bit too much screen time for my taste. And let’s not forget the friendship dubbed “lavender,” which was honestly a bit unbearable to watch. Thank goodness for the younger generation’s far more lovable and heartwarming friendships—they saved the day. 👏

In the end, *Love Next Door* is not just a rom-com. It’s a thoughtful exploration of relationships, family, and the messiness of life. It’s not about who’s right or wrong; it’s about combining different perspectives to see the bigger picture. It’s about privilege, setbacks, and fears—real issues that we all face. And even though it might occasionally frustrate you, it’ll also make you think, laugh, cry, and question your own assumptions about people and relationships.

Is it perfect? No. But it’s honest, it’s real, and it’ll leave you with enough emotions to fill a journal—or a long-winded review like this one. 😉

So, if you’re looking for something deeper than just a standard love story, give *Love Next Door* a try. Just make sure you’re ready for the feels. 💫
