They are both about the South Korean music industry. Hit the Top is more about trainee life than Imitation, but both involve both large and small companies.

Both dramas deal with the concept of aspiring idols and musicians getting second chances at realising their dreams.

Both focus on artists that are trying to pursue a successful career in music. In Persevere, Goo Hae Ra, there's one idol group too.

Both talk about the life of a kpop group.

Ma Ha was a member of the group Omega III, which disbanded on its debut day due to a tragic incident now she is a member of the new K-pop girl group Tea Party, formed by Ji Hak, who was once the manager of the famous boy group Shax.
Lee Yu Jin, Ma Ha's loyal friend who is the center of the rising boy group Sparkling, has been in love with Ma Ha since their idol trainee days.
Ma Ha finds herself repeatedly crossing paths with Kwon Ryok, the most popular member of Shax, While Ryok initially dislikes Ma Ha, the two eventually begin to grow interest in one another and start a secret relationship. THE IDOL LIFE STORY GAVE ME SIMILAR VIBES WITH THE HEAVENLY IDOL

Both dramas give off the same vibes. If you're looking for a youth drama with idol MLs that's centered around the music industry and their romance, this could be one that you enjoy.

The dynamics of the main couple in both shows reminded me of the other: famous guy with a cold exterior who actually really likes the FL the whole time but struggles to express it properly at first. Both dramas also deal with the world of idols/celebrities & the challenges it brings.

Both are pretty different dramas in terms of plot and tone, but if you like the trope of the ML appearing quite cold/indifferent towards the FL at first but inwardly liking her the entire time & struggling to show those emotions over time, you will like either drama.
