I just finished Pursuit of Jade and I honestly don’t think I’ll recover anytime soon. This is hands down one of the best dramas I’ve ever watched, and I’m not even exaggerating. Everything about it just hit perfectly—the story, the pacing, the emotions, and especially the leads. Like… where do I even start?

The female lead? Absolutely iconic. She’s strong, smart, and doesn’t take nonsense from anyone. It’s so refreshing to see a character who actually stands her ground and makes her own decisions instead of constantly being pushed around. She’s not just “strong” for the sake of it either—it feels real, like every choice she makes comes from her experiences and values. I loved how she handled every situation with both confidence and vulnerability.

And the male lead… oh my god. He is EVERYTHING. The way he’s so powerful and respected, yet completely soft and whipped for her? I was screaming. He has that classic general aura—calm, intimidating, in control—but the second it comes to her, he melts. It never felt forced or cringey either. His love was steady, protective, and honestly just so satisfying to watch.

Their chemistry?? Insane. Every scene together felt natural and emotional, whether it was tension, romance, or just quiet moments. You could feel how much they cared about each other without it needing to be over-the-top.

I genuinely didn’t want it to end. This drama set the bar way too high, and now I don’t know what to watch next because nothing feels like it’ll compare. If you’re even thinking about watching it—just do it. It’s THAT good. Seriously! Anyone who doesn't watch this drama is missing out a lot. The whole series is just 10/10.

I'd rewatch it in a heartbeat

I loved it. I cried in ep 40. I feel like we get to know those ppl from 17 years ago.. that are presnet and or tell us on why they did what they did, and we i feel get to know each part of their story. Sad moments. I mean i creid.. I paced. I'm a person.. if something intense happened.. I will pause the show and start pacing. Ive done that a lot in this drama because its intense. I loved the sountrack as well. I loved the story. It wasnt dragging. I feel like if you dont pay attention on who each character is it will drag. unless its just bad writing then it may drag. this drama didnt drag for me. I loved it. I loved the chemistry, the intensity, everything about this drama. and yes like the headline says.. id rewatch it in a heart beat.

Beginning Eps are everything?

Started off so strong—those village episodes were everything. The chemistry, the simplicity, all the cute little moments… I was completely hooked. Honestly, that part of the story felt so genuine and warm, I just wanted it to last longer.

But later on, I found myself skipping quite a bit. I couldn’t connect the same way anymore. I get that the ML had to hide his identity in the beginning, but I really feel like he should’ve told her the truth sooner. Anyone in her position would’ve reacted the same way—it just felt frustrating to watch.

And after she becomes a general… I don’t know, something felt different. Maybe it’s just me, but the vibe changed and I couldn’t fully stay invested. It'll always be Yan Zheng for me!!

And that sparring scene?? Absolutely unforgettable. Easily my favorite moment in the drama.
Still… I can’t help but wish we could go back to those village days :(

Exceptional, Strong fl. Excellent

Woowww, this drama is so good, I was hooked from episode 1. I love that the fl is strong, she's not a damsel in distress. She carries her strongness from ep 1 to the end. Zhang linghe did justice to the character. He was strong when he needed to be and with Changyu he was clingy, he wasn't cold and dismissive like the typical generals, whenever it came to Changyu he was like a baby, always wanting reassurance and kisses which is so beautiful. The ending was done beautifully. Overall the all the actors did so well. Well done to the team I will definitely rewatch this a countless times. Don't listen to the other haters saying ugly stuff about the drama, it's a 100/10

"YOU WERE A GOOD PIG IN THIS LIFE, BE A GOOD PERSON IN NEXT " FAN CHANGYU/ WEI CHANGYU

I like every character in this drama, even when they make mistakes, their intentions are understandable. Still, I have to admit the last episode made me cry. I don’t know why they cut the scene where Lord Li sees the twins of the main couple and remembers his old friends, if they had kept that from the novel, I would’ve been in pieces.
OVERALL SOLID 10/10
I felt bad for Sui Yuanqing, Wei Yan, Wei Yuan, and even the 13th Lady, but I grew to hate Qi Min. At first, I thought he was a tragic character, but his later actions made me despise him even more, especially when he destroyed Lord Changxin’s family, the very people who had raised him.
About our LEADS : YAN ZHENG/ XIE ZHENG X FAN CHANGYU/ WEI CHANGYU
I loved their chemistry and their love. I adored the moment when Yan Zheng said, "Anybody can be prince consort except Xie Zheng, I only love you in this lifetime." I admired their yearning for each other, how they supported and trusted one another without any misunderstanding, and how they were both strong generals.
I also liked Lord Li and Sui Yuanqing’s blind trust in his family, even his troublesome brother. He was a good person, at least for his family.

Not perfect, but deserving.

I have read the novel before and this was announced to be mymade into drama adaptation and I am thankful for the production who have chosen ZLH and TXW as the heroic duo because I am expecting a lot.

Every single plot has already been used hundreds of times. Simply because the concept is similar doesn’t mean the execution will be the same, just like what they did to The Legend of Female General, that was half baked for me and I still have a nightmare from it. Theres also many short dramas using this theme.

But what differentiate between this and others, of course high/large scale budget with premium actors, of course it changes the game. I love the Lian's village environment when they have no big conclicts,of course noisy aunties/gossipers, and some provoking people like Changyu's uncle/auntie, foul gossip grandma kang, song and his mother😂😂😂😂, her 5 debt collectors /hometown buddies, smart transmigrator Qianqian jiejie, and so on. Thankfully theres also countless good characters that make my days such Zhao family who going through thick and thin with her and many more that i lost count. The cutie Changning too🥰 she is too cute and lovable.

Yes disturbing characters like Qimin, Suiyuanqing so on..

Its only March but this has to be one the best dramas for me and until another dramas can top this, this will be timeless for me.

Pleasantly surprised

I'm not a regular watcher of Chinese drama these days and so was not familiar with the majority of the cast. However the FL instantly caught my attention with how pretty she was and I was instantly hooked on the chemistry of the main leads in particular. Their relationship developed at a nice pace while gradually unfolding the main storyline and I couldn't stop watching to find out what happens next. The wait to reveal his identity did take longer than I'd have liked but that's a minor impatience on my part. The music synced well with the drama and the costumes and location set was beautiful. Am definitely a new fan of Tian Xi Wei <3

A beautifully layered story of love, consequences, and fate

I went into Pursuit of Jade expecting a typical historical romance, but it turned into something much deeper — a story about consequences, power, and how one decision can change everything.

What stood out most to me is how the drama handles the truth behind what happened 17 years ago. It’s not as simple as blaming one person. The Prime Minister didn’t directly cause the massacre, but his actions led to devastating consequences, including the male lead’s mother’s suicide. It really reframes his character — you can almost understand him at times, but the damage he caused is undeniable.

Qi Min, on the other hand, represents what happens when obsession takes over completely. His ending — imprisoned and ultimately poisoned by Manager Yu — feels like justice, but it’s also quietly tragic. He lost himself long before the end.

The drama also reveals that the grand tutor wasn’t innocent either, showing that this entire situation was built on years of power struggles and manipulation rather than just one person’s actions.

At the heart of everything is the relationship between the female lead and male lead. Their bond feels steady and earned, built on trust rather than just dramatic moments. Even when everything around them is falling apart, they remain each other’s constant.

The return to Lian Village was one of the most emotional parts of the ending. After everything they went through, it felt like a full-circle moment — grounding, warm, and a reminder of what they were fighting for all along.

The ending itself is bittersweet but satisfying. Most of the main storylines are resolved, but the alternative ending left me slightly unsure. While it was interesting to see what life could have been like, I do think that time could have been used to give more closure to side characters.

Overall, Pursuit of Jade is not a perfect drama, but it’s one that stays with you. The characters are layered, the story is emotional, and everything ties back to the past in a way that feels meaningful.

And at the end of it all, one thing is clear — no matter what happened, they were always meant to find each other.

This is undeniably one of the most anticipated dramas of 2026. I’ll admit, I was hesitant at first—I wasn’t sure if it would live up to the hype. But the moment I started watching, it quickly pulled me in. It became addictive almost immediately, with a story that feels both compelling and refreshingly different.

What initially caught my attention was the premise itself—how often do we see a female lead who is a butcher? That alone already sets it apart. The story centers on Fan Chang Yu, a free-spirited, independent young woman from Lin’an Village. After the death of her parent, she is forced to grow up quickly, becoming the head of the household at just 19. She takes on the responsibility of raising her younger sister, Chang Ning, while surviving through the physically demanding and socially looked-down-upon work of butchering pigs. Her life is undeniably harsh, but what makes her stand out is her resilience—she doesn’t just endure her circumstances, she confronts them head-on.

Her life takes a turn when she rescues a wounded man, Yan Zheng (also known as Xie Zheng), from the snow and nurses him back to health. What begins as a simple act of kindness evolves into a partnership where both of them rely on each other. However, Yan Zheng is not who he appears to be—he is actually Marquis Wu’an, hiding his true identity while secretly investigating a deeper conspiracy. Their marriage is born out of necessity rather than love: he enters it to conceal his identity and continue his mission, while Chang Yu agrees to protect her home from being taken away. Despite the transactional beginning, their relationship gradually develops into one built on trust, mutual respect, and eventually, genuine love.

At first glance, it seems like the primary conflict will revolve around their vast difference in social status. However, the story goes far beyond that expectation. The real turning point lies in Chang Yu’s hidden past—one that is far more complex and tragic than anyone initially realizes. She is, in fact, the granddaughter of General Meng and the daughter of General Wei Qilin, a once-revered general who was falsely accused and framed to cover up a massive conspiracy that led to countless deaths. Branded as a traitor, he became an enemy of the nation.

This revelation transforms Chang Yu’s journey into something much heavier and more meaningful. She doesn’t just fight for survival anymore—she fights for justice, for truth, and for her family’s honor. Her path is filled with hardship, sacrifice, and relentless determination as she works to clear her father’s name. In the end, she rises to become a general herself, not merely by circumstance, but by merit and conviction. Her story reinforces the idea that regardless of status, she was always noble—both by blood and by character.

When it comes to the acting, the cast delivers strongly overall. Having watched several of Zhang Ling He’s previous works, I already knew he was a capable actor, but this role allowed him to showcase more subtlety. His use of micro-expressions is particularly effective, adding depth to a character who constantly hides his true self.

That said, the true standout of the drama is Tian Xi Wei. This is purely based on observation, but her performance genuinely surpasses many of her co-stars. Her emotional transitions are incredibly natural and fluid—she shifts expressions effortlessly, and more importantly, you can feel the emotion through her voice and delivery. She doesn’t just act out scenes; she makes them believable. One of the most surprising aspects of her performance is her execution of the fight scenes. She carries them convincingly, with both strength and precision. It’s rare to see her in roles that involve this level of physicality, but it suits her exceptionally well. She should definitely take on more roles like this in the future.

In terms of characterization, Xie Zheng is a bit of a mixed case. His decision to conceal his identity is understandable given his position and mission. However, the way this deception is prolonged becomes frustrating. He had multiple opportunities to reveal the truth to Chang Yu but chose not to, continuing to present himself as weak in order to remain close to her. While this adds tension to the story, it also makes certain parts feel unnecessarily dragged.

On the other hand, Chang Yu’s character has sparked some criticism, particularly regarding her tendency to bend or break rules. Personally, I see this as one of her greatest strengths. Her decisions may be unconventional, but they are often necessary. She is decisive, courageous, and willing to take risks when no one else will. She doesn’t wait for permission to do what she believes is right. In many ways, she embodies the idea that leadership is not about blind obedience, but about making difficult choices for the greater good—even if it means facing consequences later.

The production elements also deserve recognition. The music complements the emotional tone of the drama well, enhancing key scenes without overpowering them. The chemistry between the leads is undeniable—truly chef’s kiss. Their interactions feel natural, and their emotional connection develops in a way that is both believable and engaging. Even their more intimate scenes are handled tastefully, and their strong on-screen compatibility makes those moments more impactful.

Overall, this is a highly engaging drama with a unique premise, strong character development, and standout performances—particularly from Tian Xi Wei. It successfully blends personal struggles, romance, and political intrigue into a story that keeps you invested from beginning to end. The only unfortunate aspect is that its impact was somewhat affected by the early leak of episodes before its official conclusion, which disrupted the viewing experience for many.

Despite that, it remains a memorable and worthwhile watch.

Highly recommended despite minor flaws. I’m very strict with ratings, and it’s rare for me to go above 9—this might be one of my highest ever.
