Stupid . . . But also stupid fun!
My rating is generous, admittedly, but it's my honest rating. Hear me out!Was this drama well thought out? No. Did the finale make any damn sense on paper or on the screen? No. Did the side couple's romantic storyline develop naturally? Not really.
But was it fun? Did I have fun?
Hell yeah, I did! It was STUPID FUN! From Plawan sniffing Chef Oab like a damn dog at every opportunity and both of them getting off on the scent of "oh-so-erotic" basil/each other constantly, to millionaire, tycoon-suit-wearing Methas becoming JJ's all-too-willing sugar daddy in like the span of a week though JJ doth protest but he really protests too much.
I recommend between your high-quality romances and thoughtful titles, you partake in this non-serious, turn-your-brain-off drama.

This Love Needed Only Basil ♡
Simplicity at it's finest. This is one of the best examples I can think of when it comes to that phrase, because with the most basic of plots, they created something so entertaining. The key was to it was introducing all characters, all storylines and possible conflicts from the get go, that way, we knew what we were getting. Sometimes, new conflicts are introduced to shake things up but thank goodness none of that happened here, sure it was predictable, but it was also consistent. No unnecessary misunderstandings, no extra drama because the script said so, yes please and thank you!
The story was well fleshed out, there was a lot going on with the competition, the sneaking around, the ex girlfriend and more, but every one of them seamlessly revolved around the restaurant. I especially loved the cooking sequences and scenes involving the competition, watching Oab become more understanding and patient, Plawan gaining skills and finding his passion, the good dynamics in the kitchen the more they worked together, it was great to see each character grow in their own ways as the competition grew.
The characters were also written very well, like any good series, there was a fair share of characters who required character development, others who were introduced for the sole purpose of creating conflict, but every single one of them had more to them than just being a plot point. They were complex and sometimes difficult to understand, but good people nonetheless, which was evident in the writing.
And the CHEMISTRY! So good.
Plawan and Oab's relationship was certainly the less confusing of the two, they were obviously attracted to each other and as their relationship progressed, the introduction of conflicts only showcased why they made a good pair. They understood the other person's stance, and even if Plawan had to pout a bit, they communicated with each other much better than I thought they would. Even after the deal was revealed, it was clear that they cared for each other very much.
JJ and Methas on the other hand were a tad bit confusing at times (a bit more screentime I think could have resolved this), but a good couple nonetheless.
While the series itself wasn't a huge revelation, it's certainly worth talking about. Uncomplicated, heartwarming and swoon worthy, it's definitely worth a watch.
But I do have one question: why weren't any of them wearing chef's hats?!! Like ew- no food in my hair.. ugh.. no hair in my food please! For a guy who wanted his kitchen and restaurant spotless, this certainly went over Oab's head, didn't it?

Typical thai rom-com
Entertaining but many clichés. Some of the characters are not fully developed and there are some flaws in the script. Some of the nude/sex scenes didn't feel genuine or fitting in the story. As if they were added randomly to please the BL fans. A bit of a boring development in recent years' BL series where the number of spicy sex scenes becomes more important than the story. But if you miss the actors from Pit Babe, this is an easy and fun series to binge watch. Was this review helpful to you?
A Recipe for Disappointment with a Side of Unexpected Gems"
Drama Review: "This Love Doesn't Have Long Beans"Main Couple: Where’s the Love?Alright, let’s talk about the main couple—who I guess were supposed to be the stars, but were more like background noise. They decided to skip any kind of emotional development and jump straight into NC scenes faster than you can say “skip intro.” Honestly, it felt like they thought constant make-out sessions could substitute for chemistry. Newsflash: it doesn’t. No butterflies, no sparks, just two people awkwardly thrown together. At this point, I’ve seen better chemistry between two forks in a drawer. And don’t even get me started on the love triangle they tried to pull off. What a joke! Kluer, the third wheel in this so-called triangle, was as useless as a chocolate teapot. The writers must’ve thought, “Hey, let’s make things interesting by adding another character!” But all they did was add a bunch of pointless scenes that did nothing to build tension or make us care. Kluer’s role was so pitiful and forgettable that calling it a triangle is an insult to geometry. And here’s another gem: Chef falls in love with Plawan, a contestant in a cooking competition he’s organizing. Conflict of interest much? It was painfully obvious that Plawan was going to win, despite his lack of actual cooking skills. I mean, I’ve seen more believable victories on reality TV cooking shows. This whole setup was just a lazy excuse to push the two together. “Wow, you can’t cook, but you won my heart (and this contest) anyway!” Seriously, at this point, I was rooting for the food to taste better than the storyline.
Second Couple: The Real MVPsNow let’s shift to the second couple, JJ and Methas—the real heroes of this show. If you want to see enemies turn into lovers done right, these two are where it’s at. JJ was kind and straightforward, while Methas had that whole “I’m falling for you because you’re actually a decent human” vibe going on. Every handhold, every look, every damn thing they did had more electricity than a lightning storm. Their first kiss? Butterfly central! Honestly, these two could’ve just stared at each other for 10 episodes, and it would’ve been more interesting than the main couple’s soap opera.
Plot: Like Swiss Cheese—Full of HolesThe plot of this drama was about as consistent as my sleep schedule—non-existent. They tried to make us believe that Plawan fell for Chef because of his basil-scented aura. I’m sorry, but if love could be sparked by the smell of basil, I’d have fallen for every Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to. The whole betrayal storyline? An even bigger joke. Chef finds out about Plawan’s betrayal, and instead of the expected drama, revenge, and tears, we got a quick apology, a shrug, and bam—everything’s good. They could’ve shown Chef’s actual rage, his comeback plan, or literally anything else, but nope, they chose to give us more basil-flavored nonsense.
Ending: Faster Than Fast FoodThe ending was rushed like someone had a deadline and forgot until the last minute. They packed what should have been a good five episodes of drama and resolution into ten minutes. Chef finds out he’s been betrayed, has a tantrum, forgives Plawan, and they’re back to being besties in record time. If only real life worked that way! I swear, I’ve seen more compelling conflict resolution in kindergarten. It’s like they were so done with the show themselves that they just hit fast-forward on the entire ending.
Final Thoughts“This Love Doesn't Have Long Beans” had potential but ended up serving us a cold, flavorless dish. The constant NC scenes were like over-seasoning—too much of a good thing becomes a bad thing. The main couple lacked any real emotional depth, while JJ and Methas were the only saving grace, giving us some much-needed realness. Sadly, a half-baked plot and a drive-thru ending ruined what could’ve been a solid drama.Benz and Garfield improved and absolutely nailed their roles, but the rest of the cast? Let's just say I’ve seen more convincing acting in shampoo commercials. If you’re here for the story, prepare to be disappointed. If you’re here for JJ and Methas, well, at least they make it somewhat worth the watch. Overall, I’d rate this a 4.5 out of 10. Watch it for the secondary couple, but don’t expect much else.
I know it's late but I wanted to share my thoughts so...

Typical BL with a harmonious first couple
Its a typical BL: a naive, soft main character and one with a hard shell but a soft centre. Good chemistry between the two.Second couple also very typical; the down-to-earth normalo and the rich asshole who can change himself. The chemistry is okay, but not great.
The token woman who can do nothing but scheme and cry.
8 episodes seem a bit too rushed. 9 episodes would have been better; the resolution of the secret deal in F8 was handled too quickly for me. Normally this is the typical F11 that all bl lovers are afraid of haha. Then there's the ring-intensive ending...one more episode would have been better.
Some points remind me of the BL TharnType (Someone acts like Lhong).
The Story is okay, also very typical. But a little bit flat and repetitive.
Despite everything, not a bad BL. But also not an outstanding one or one worth seeing again.

Watch this because the trailer looks interesting. Turn out Alan & Jeff from pit babe. Ok let's discuss drama… Story about Oab & Plawan. Oab is a famous chef, one day, in need of money & lost motivation for his cooking, he decided to sell his restaurant. But since his restaurant is in a strategic place, many money making developers try to buy the restaurant just for its location, they plan to destroy the restaurant itself. Not willing to back down, Oab announced to the world he was looking for the successor of his restaurant, the requirements: they needed to have money to buy the restaurant from him… So with that the competition for the successor of the restaurant began…
Plawan is a model / food blogger, who loves Thai basil stir-fry. He tried many restaurants for their Thai basil stir-fry. One day he got kicked out of Oab’s restaurant because he's noisy, so Plawan decided to take ‘revenge’ when he saw Oab’s announcement for his successor. The only problem is, Plawan CAN'T cook. But since he was determined to get into the competition, he started to learn to cook Thai basil stir-fry. And in the end he successfully entered the competition…
Methas is one of the money making developers who try to buy Oab’s restaurant. Since Plawan didn't have the money to buy the restaurant from Oab, Plawan made a deal with Methas. With the help of Plawan’s friend, JJ, Plawan will receive the money in parts for every stage in the competition. If he fails, he must return the money to Methas.
So, how well will Plawan do in the competition?
That’s pretty much the story. Now what I like and don’t like.
What I like:
+ The chemistry between Pon Thanapon Aiemkumchai & Sailub Hemmawich Kwanamphaiphan. Quite surprised to see Pon as Plawan. It’s quite a different character from Jeff in Pit Babe.
+ The stupid love story between JJ & Methas. Their relationship is the definition of getting yelled at until you fall for it… Haha… Yeah, JJ is quite different from all Methas acquaintances. JJ never sucked up to Methas even though he has the money.
+ JJ is really a good friend, even to the point of stupid, for Plawan.
What I don’t like:
- Everything like it’s already destined or scripted.
- They completely forget the fact that Oab look for his successor that have MONEY.... Never once Oab ask the one join the competition about their finance
Overall this quite good story to watch….

Fun to watch, hard to love.
Overall it was a very funny lakorn, I can't say I didn't like it at all, but I think they didn't put all their effort in this one's plot.I hoped they developed more the MethasJJ even if they were the second couple, somehow I think something went missing.
I tried so hard to like Kluea as a character, but they made him too petty (kinda felt dejavu of Way in PitBabe) and sadly I couldn't symphatize with him 'cause I really hate some attitudes, such as the "just let me hug/kiss you when you can't say no".
Same with Khaosuay, she was kinda cute at first, but then they decided to give to her character all the worst romcom cliches so you cloudn't be on her side not even for 1 sec.
By the way, I've always said that if I can hate a character is because the acting skill of the actor are quite good so I'm not putting my hate on Aon nor Belle, I simply felt that they could've avoid some weird details on their characters but they both did a good job.
In the end, I enjoyed watching it all and I never postponed it, so I can't say I don't recommend it, but there are better BL lakorn than this.
Briefly: acting was good, the chemistry between the actors was there, they could've develop everything better, but this is still a 8 episodes series, so if you're looking for a funny romcom with a light plot, give it a try!

Enemies to Lover Plot
First of all, I like their acting skills. Although the final episode is kinda rushed (all in this episode is here the conflict and the quick solution and ending). If you also like hot scenes, definitely suggest this one. If you are interested in BL series with the enemies to lovers plot. I will suggest this series. Kudos! Another completed series.Next to watch?

Undeniable chemistry
I enjoyed this, I was annoyed at time because of some side charactersPlawan was a bit annoying at first, but not that much to me.
For 8 eps, the flow of the plot was okay and the ending didn’t feel rushed. I didn’t dislike the cooking aspect of the show either
The best thing about this is definitely for me the chemistry between chef and Plawan. And seriously, one of the best kisses I have seen in a BL and we get quite a lot kiss and NC scenes. It was really fire. I loved their bickering and interactions. The breakup was needed and in the end all chef needed was an apology. I liked that.
I still find it funny how chef needed to get some, one last time ahah, before telling Plawan he knew about him working for Meta and leaving
The girl (chef ex) was really annoying and I’m still annoyed it take quite long for chef to set boundaries. Kleen got on my nerves too… but in the end everything got sorted out
For the second couple, I think they were interesting at first and the tension was good. but in the end, didn’t much like them that much. I don’t like how Meeta character became (and this thing with money was annoying), so clingy and everything, I don’t know. And it was pretty slow
Another point, I had some good laughs
So, I recommend, it pretty short, good chemistry and entertaining
