If you want something different from the usual Marvel or DC superhero stories
I watched this series between 17–28 May 2026. At first, I thought it was just another rom-com, but within a few minutes I realized it was actually a superpower fantasy series. The story follows ordinary people who suddenly gain strange superpowers and end up fighting mysterious villains. What makes the show different is that the powers are not always cool or perfect. Many of them are clumsy, funny, and create some really entertaining situations.
The series is set during the 1999 Y2K era, where mysterious villains and fictional powers create a unique world. Sometimes it feels like an emotional family drama, and other times it turns into pure slapstick comedy.
The pacing can feel a little uneven in a few episodes, but the warm-hearted characters, humor, and human emotions keep the story engaging.
If you want something different from the usual Marvel or DC superhero stories, and you like relatable characters with unusual powers, then you should definitely give this series a chance.
From my side, I would give it 7 out of 10. It is definitely a good one-time watch.

FUNNY
The clips from Wonderfools appeared on my timeline so often that I thought it was another zombie K-drama with a comedy twist. Turns out, it's actually a sci-fi series with a comedy twist.I ended up liking it. It's funny, and even though some of the jokes didn't really land for me, the overall experience was still enjoyable. It gave me a good laugh, and sometimes that's exactly what you need from a series. The background story feels a bit underdeveloped, the whole concept of wunderkinder is interesting, but because the number of episodes is limited, everything feels a little too packed, but it's okay. I was invested because the series was fun, but around episode 6, I started to lose a bit of interest. It became slightly boring, although it was still watchable until the end.Regarding a sequel, personally, I think nope, one season is enough. The original premise is built around the "end of the millennium" apocalypse, so continuing the story after the year 2000—or even going back to explore the creation of wunderkinder—might feel less relevant.
It may not fully explore its potential, but it succeeds in giving a good laugh and an enjoyable sci-fi experience.

Foolish Superheroes to the Rescue
Three notoriously infamous residents of Haesong, Sappy Sap Kang Robin, Royal Nightmare Son Gyeongu and Lady Trainwreck Eun Chaeni found themselves afflicted with strange abilities after getting embroiled in Lady Trainwreck’s plan of fake kidnapping to extort her grandma for some travel money that turned into her accidental murder. Discovered by municipal officer Lee Eunjeong as Kang Robin and Son Gyeongu were trying to dispose of Eun Chaeni’s body in a landfill, they entered into a scuffle in a puddle of dark liquid that eventually brought a couple of police officers to their location. Just as the officers were taking statement from Lee, Eun Chaeni suddenly appeared very much alive and well. They parted ways but were drawn together again when they found themselves having superpowers. As the three were trying to figure out their powers, they decided to get under Lee’s wings, calling him master and asking him to teach them how to use their powers, when they found out that Lee has telekinesis ability. Little to their knowledge, Lee has a different priority that involves a cultish church that has been attracting considerable followers with their December 31 1999 apocalypse preach. It took me quite several days to finish this cuz I was not able to keep up with the utter foolishness of the haphazard trio Kang, Son and Eun. Although each characters are unique and have quite distinct personalities of their own, i mean they’re very simple minded, monotonous, and somewhat innocent especially Kang and Eun, but they’re also extremely irritating as they keep tripping on their own feet as they try to figure out and control their abilities. Although I liked the innocently comical Kang Robin, I can’t say the same for the selfish Son and the shameless Eun. Their characters are extremely irritating and constantly get on my nerves, so much that I had to pause in between episodes to take a breather as I didnt want to drop the series. Although I did not quite like the two main characters Son and Eun, i had to commend the actors for making the characters look very much alive and convincing. Especially for Son’s actor Choi Daehoon whom I just saw in Agent Kim Reactivated, a total contrast from a badass no-nonsense ex agent to notoriously naggy, selfish and hopeless father and husband.
As for the villains, i had high hopes for Dr Ha cuz he looked quite unhingedly crazy, but honestly his unceremonious exit was too abrupt and somewhat anticlimax for me. As for the rest of his “children”, I failed to feel sorry for them despite their brains being totally haywired after the childhood trauma they endured, which made them ultimately fall victim to the classic Stockholm Syndrome. Worst part is none of them got to get proper closure, they became merely pawns right till the end.
I feel that the plot is totally messy and the characters’ foolishness too irritating for me to really enjoy the show. Hence why it took me 3 days to finish. Although I liked Park Eunbin, and very satisfied with the rest of the actors’ performance, I don’t really want to watch season 2 if they ever come up with it (i guess they might since the main villain survived albeit very much defeated). The characters are just too annoying for me to keep watching their antics all over again.
I really liked that little scene where FL teleported with ML and the gust of wind she left behind startled the cat though. That one was cute.

So much fun
That was incredible, it has everything with excess fun and a touch of romance.İt feels like old kdramas, i loved the whole cast, the two leads were adorable and Eun Bin literally has no bad drama up to this point, even her boring shows are great, i just love her.
This is a highly recommended show, if you don't know what to watch just give this a shot, tbh the story is by no mean an original and this is the weakest thing about the drama but performances and chemistry between the whole cast makes up for that.

Interesting shows and fun to watch
It's enjoyable to watch the series. I love the character of Choi Dae-hoon as Son Gyeong-hun in this series as he often became a villain in kdrama and this is a great acting by him and very refreshing to see him in this character. Of course my favorite actress Kim Hae-sook as Kim Jeon-bo! I hope there will be a season 2 for this show. Overall satisfied. Was this review helpful to you?
Better than you'd think!
This show was pretty funny and was really enjoyable. I don't usually like superhero shows, but this one was pretty good. I only watched it because Eunwoo was in it to be honest or I never would've checked it out. He looked so fine in this show. I think the comedy really helped with this show. I'm glad it all came out at once and not weekly because I don't think it would've done well coming out one episode at a time. The characters were all pretty interesting. I loved Un Jeong, Chae Ni, and some of the villain characters as well. Some of the powers were pretty cool too. Strength and the sticky power were pretty lame I can't lie and Gyeong Un annoyed me. I saw there was an after credits scene so maybe we'll get a season two which I wouldn't mind. Overall, the show was better than I thought it would! Was this review helpful to you?

Great superhero show
This series is so incredibly fun, it has mystery in the beginning of series, charming characters, nice conflict and great plot twist. I thought it was just casual superhero movie but turns out it was balance between fun and action. The CGI also good, the chemistry between actors is very warming, and everything feels perfectWas this review helpful to you?

Funny, entertaining yet didn't make sense sometimes...
this drama was quite funny and entertaining yet didn't make sense sometimes and alot of things felt rushed.so first of all chae ni 's heart condition at first like she was dying and had symptoms of heart faliure so doesn't that contradicts what we get to know later that she had healing abilities because of that heart so why wasn't she healing at first ? and I was also confused her grandma agreed to the heart transplant surgery didn't chae ni had a heart condition in the first place they didn't show us so I am a bit confused
Ha won do was quite a rushed written charater for me like at first he says he wants her heart to cure others yet he was doing it for that chairman but what for like was that man funding the whole experimentations or was he threatening him to put him back in jail ? they didn't show us a motive so that is another villain to forget.
that's been said the drama definitely had its moments : funny, emotional and action packed ones , it deserves to give it a go.

a quirky, chaotic, and surprisingly heartfelt
The OST deserves special mention. It’s eclectic, blending retro beats with soaring ballads that perfectly capture the late-90s vibe. Tracks shift seamlessly between playful and poignant, amplifying both the comedic timing and the emotional resonance. The music often feels like another character, guiding viewers through tonal shifts and grounding the story’s eccentric energy.Ultimately, The Wonderfools is messy, vibrant, and deeply human. It’s less about polished heroics and more about flawed people fumbling toward connection and purpose. For viewers tired of formulaic superhero narratives, this series offers something refreshingly different: a chaotic ride underscored by an unforgettable soundtrack. If you’re tired of formulaic superhero shows, The Wonderfools offers something refreshingly different. It’s messy but deliberately so, leaning into absurdity while still delivering emotional resonance. Worth watching if you enjoy character-driven chaos with heart.

Fun binge watch
Hilarious! 😂🤌 This is indeed what it said it was. A comedy drama with a superhero concept.Really liked the idea of laboratory mutation resulting in weird and grand superpowers. The pacing was good with a rather unexpected twist in between. You were kept entertained throughout. The ending pissed me out though. The kind of incomplete, let to the viewer to ponder kind. Frustrating 😤
My favourites were Kang Robin and Son Gyeonghun. They just exist to be comical. Im Seongjae and Choi Daehun did a fabulous job! Park Eunbin is really a fabulous actress. The variety of roles she pulls of and that too in such a good way, it's crazy! And this is one of those dramas you should watch if you believe Cha Eunwoo does not know to act. It shall prove you wrong. I think he did a good job. Honestly, the plot twist of him working for the organization and handing her over was quite a shock. Initially, I did think it would happen. But it was when i started thinking the opposite that it happened, catching me off guard. I seriously want to see him in an antagonist role, i swear! He would make a wonderful villain 😭 Supporting cast were also good and added to the storyline.
All together, it's a fun watch, a funny little escape!

funny but there were MANY plotholes
overall i really enjoyed this show!it was funny and entertaining but there were SOOO many plotholes.
some examples: chae-ni can only teleport when her heart is beating rapidly but there are multiple moments where she teleports randomly, kyung-hoon only sticks when he lies but there were moments where he hadn't lied and would stick, kyung-hoon can only stick to objects himself so how did he get all those people to stick to that inflatable turnip, how did that inflatable turnip fit in that jail cell + why didn't the police get rid of the turnip before locking the prisoners in the cell, how did chae-ni not get blown into a million pieces by that airship, how did chae-ni come back from "the desert" in 3 weeks with no money/passport/food/water/anything, how is woon-jung's mother alive when it was clearly stated that she was dead + how did he find her?.. the list goes on
anyways, it was fun! chae-ni and woon-jung r such a cute couple iajgiejaig <33
