Ae Ja was once a promising student. Not only did she do well in school, she also loved to write poetry on rainy days and possessed excellent fighting skills. Her dream was to become a novelist, and a few years later she moved to Seoul to fulfill those dreams. Ae Ja is now 29 years old and has not achieved any of the success she had hoped for. Her only accomplishment to date is winning an award from a local newspaper organization. Unfortunately, her personal life is not much better as her boyfriend cheated on her and ran off leaving behind large amounts of debt. Ae Ja is nearly pushed to the edge, but she decides to channel her energy into a writing contest that offers a large reward. While writing for the contest, Ae Ja receives a message from her mother asking her to come back to Busan for her brother's wedding. Ae Ja's mother has always been tough on her and when she goes back to Busan her mother treats her no differently. Then one day, her mother suddenly collapses, and Ae Ja's world starts shaking from the seams. Edit Translation

This is one of those films where you feel like the characters never really say the things they want to say. And that's a really frustrating thing to watch. I kept waiting for people to just start screaming uncontrollably at each other, actually express their feelings or...something. Alas, it never happened, and I just spent the whole viewing experience really stressed out.

There was also one point towards the end that was particularly hard for me to watch due to my own personal beliefs. But even though I don't agree with the choice the character makes, I do think it is realistic, and I can understand Why she would make it.

So would I recommend this movie to others? No, not really.

(Music is 1 because I can't remember anything about the music.)
