More action than plot

I wouldn't say I'm displeased with the special, but this had more action sequences than required and less plot than it needed, and that's not really what I wanted after waiting for quite a while for it to become available online.

The story wasn't quite up there in terms of intrigue, while they did manage to close up a few loose ends from the series, the special really adds nothing to the actual story. An new storyline, new characters, and it felt more like a new series than a continuation. Even the thing I've come to expect most from specials, a ton of romance and updates on the couples and characters, didn't really come through. It isn't a deal breaker though, The Sign was also primarily an action and mystery series, I just personally expected a bit more.

The production though remained consistent. Several questions answered, but new questions arise, the mystery/action/fantasy elements didn't have the right balance yet again, and the storytelling was a bit up and down, but after a while and after watching The Sign, I've become accustomed to it.

There were quite a few elements that did feel odd and a bit out of place, though ultimately it was fun to watch the IDF gang, and Phaya and Tharn on screen again. The ending was quite good as well, once again left me with a ton of questions, but also very curious.

Enjoyable, a little underwhelming and a lot of action. A LOT.

not the action I was hoping for

Overall: this 1 hour and 25 minutes follow up was fine, but it was very detective/action heavy and less character focused. Now available to watch on Idol Factory's YouTube channel. The first part of five is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfuX7Ln_m9U&ab_channel=IDOLFACTORYOFFICIAL (currently they don't have a YouTube Playlist)

Content Warnings: deaths, grief, violence/fights, blood, kidnapping

What I Liked
- 1 steamy scene was pretty well done though it could have been a bit longer
- element of fantasy though it felt underdeveloped
- they did explain 1 nonsense plot element that happened in the series which I appreciated
- addressed workplace gender discrimination

Room For Improvement
- main characters did not have any character growth, one was still lying and the other was being overly possessive
- many nonsense law enforcement things that took me out of the story
- odd goofy humor/comedy sound effects combined with a very serious plot
- presence of the little girl was not for me
- production needed to shorten up the time that they released it in Thailand/not international friendly streaming option (May 26th) to when they released it on YouTube (June 27th). At least it was only a day or two after it was for paid channel members that they released it for free on YouTube. The too long of a gap happened with the final episode as well, it would be okay if they just shortened the time between releases i.e. live in person event/thaiticketmajor online streaming May 26th, 1 week later YouTube channel members, 4 days after that free on YouTube

Idol Factory, wow, Saint did it again.

I just finished watching The sign special episode. I'm still reeling from the experience! This special episode was absolutely phenomenal, exceeding my expectations in every way.

The story was expertly woven, with a perfect blend of romance, drama, and tension. The characters' development was exceptional, with Phaya and Tharn stealing the show with their chemistry and emotional depth.

The dialogue was crisp and natural, the plot twists were expertly handled, and the pacing was impeccable. But what truly made this episode shine was the emotional resonance - I laughed, cried, and felt my heart flutter alongside the characters.

The acting, cinematography, and soundtrack all deserve special mention for elevating the episode to new heights.

Overall, this special episode was a masterclass in storytelling, character development, and emotional resonance. If you're a fan of BL or just great storytelling in general, do yourself a favor and watch this episode - it's an unforgettable experience!

a good special

Liked the action and romance. The could used some work on it. Wished Saint appeared a little more did like the protective brother. Also wished for a little bit more whump(Phaya andTharn). Little Nina did a very good job. Overall a ok special. Hope for a second season or even another special episode.

This is was terrible but Billy LOOKS HOT ???

Did I expect this to be good? NO

BUT!!!!

Just kidding. It sucked. Well. The main series' plot was already all over the place and completely nonsensical but since they attempted something new and my shallow self is always going to rate up anything Billy stars in, I managed to close my eyes and rate the Sign 8. Not this one though. I'm not THAT forgiving.

I have no memory of any special drama being good, so no dissapointment.
I needed my Billy dose and I got some crumbs mixed with a hodgepodge of nonsense. It's time for Billy to get back to filming some real dramas ( BUT NOT a sequel to THE SIGN), because I love him, but I'm sorry I have absolutely NO INTEREST in adds, behind the scenes, and fake couple interviews. I want actors to do their job which is TO ACT ( yeah I know he sings as well but don't care either)

Also, it was very obvious they were setting up the girl captain and the VERY HOT boss of IDF (don't remember his name but I've seen his abs on another drama and he's top tier in the abs department.... WHAT? Don't look at me like that!) to be hot for each other so why didn't we even get a little love-hate kiss from the both of them at the end? Talk about a let down.

Well this wasn't a complete waste of time...
I got to see some bare chested good looking dudes so... not everything is lost.

What? Did anybody finish this for the story?

At least I'm being honest.

PS: Oh yeah... I'm going to be that person. The child actress is... not good. I've seen her in Love Sea. Drama was terrible but her acting was better. She does witty well but any dramatic scenes... not so much. No hate, she's just young... Not expecting stellar performances from child actors... except in South Korea because child actors there... are just on another level. Must be the way they're taught acting I don't know. Anyway. People raving about her acting... Just nope. Arguably, everybody was overacting in this so there's also that.

Though great production value as usual from Idol Factory.

This is how you do BL special!

It makes me want S2 now! It's a lovely special where they actually write a damn plot for it, lmao. This is not those special where they go for a beach trip or they show you recap of the show. It's an actual movie plot that you can even watch on its own

I love how they keep the fantasy element in- it's more action focused than I expect, which is okay

I'm glad they gave us the hot kiss right upfront for fan service, otherwise I'd be disappointed if there's none

Damn, this couple did one of the best BL kissess- so hot and passionate, I want more. The only thing I wish for is longer or more NC scenes coz honestly, I'm here for the couple, lol

Other than that, it's pretty cool. I mean, it's rare to have such genre in BL, so I'm very appreciative of IDF for that.

Still, this fills my BL dose- especially since recent BL dramas seem to get worse, so I'm glad that IDF is making a decent one here!

It was consistent

I placed spoilers at the end of this review.

Overall, this was not a bad continuation of the main series. Unfortunately, it did mirror some of the positive and negative aspects with it. The script quality was not consistent, but successfully connected the storylines and characters from the main series.

The positive: Once again, they did a great job with the supernatural and suspense thriller elements. All of the actors were incredible, especially the child actor. They all did a great job with their characters. The cinematography was stunning and had incredible special effects.

The negative: Although it was toned down a lot, the comedy element was still off. There were also some odd background music choices and annoying sound effects that didn’t fit the mood of certain scenes.

The in-between: The romance element between the main couple was still a hit or miss for me.

Random Note:

Don’t stop watching after the ending credits because there is a bonus scene after it.

I liked how they incorporated the last bonus scene into this special episode.

*****Spoiler Alert******

The ending was a lot better. There is defiantly a hint another series is in the works set in the same universe.
