Great Story But Not So Great BL

To be honest, I was somewhat surprised by how much I really enjoyed this series. Not only was it entertaining, but it was also quite wholesome in the classic sense of that word. By the time you finish watching this series, you just feel good all over. It will bring a smile to your face. Ironically, I do not think it was a very strong BL; if I am being honest, I thought that was the weakest segment of this series. Equally, the characters who shine in this series are ALL the supporting players as they completely dominate both the acting and the story’s appeal. I found them to be so memorable. This story is all about fundamentals rather than messages. Am I worthy to carry on my mother’s legacy? How do I deal with death? Did my mother love me? Was I a product of love? How do I let go of the guilt and pain of not being there when she died? Can I ever live up to my mother’s legacy? Can I love? These are just some of the fundamentals that are gently and beautifully unfolded in this sweet story. It flows more like a shallow brook running along the rocks rather than a raging river. It is a nice, pleasant change from the usual cliché-driven tropey standard series. Likeable and agreeable and I shall remember more about the overall story than the BL portion. This is a very good series but not a great BL. It did not wow me at all but the story surrounding the cats certainly did.

Love FirstKhao but this serie was so boring

I lowkey had to force myself to finish it because it was so boring. nothing really exciting happened and u could easily guess what was gonna happen. the nc scenes were basically there just to keep the people who watch for that watching. imo it wouldve been better without those because the entire series has innocent and sweet vibes.

Goddammit! They made me (sit through &) enjoy fluff

I go into every fluffy drama with a dramatic side eye. IDK what it is about them, but more often than not, the acting is usually average at best, the comedy is overdone (or doesn't land), the pacing is horrendous, or the story is overly simplistic or nonsensical. And if I'm particularly unlucky, I am assaulted with the deadly combination of 3 or all the above factors.

If you cannot tell, I do not generally enjoy fluff shows - I mean, my favourite BL stories include "My Beautiful Man", "Love Mechanics", "My Stand-In", "The End of the World with You", "KinnPorsche", "Moonlight Chicken", and most recently "Revenged Love". Clearly, I have a flair for the dramatic. I like a complicated story with characters who live in the grey areas of life, rather than in clear-cut blacks and whites. Fluff doesn't cut it in my house. Which is why my enjoyment of this drama comes as such a surprise to me.

Despite liking FirstKhao's acting chops, I was convinced I'd hate it. But week after week, I found myself coming back. The plot is simple but not nonsensical. It has heart, specifically in regards to Khaotung's character dealing with his mom's death (the guilt and regrets surrounding that), the aftermath and picking up the pieces, as well as learning to open himself up to love. The comedy also wasn't overdone. All in all, it was a good, low-stress way to pass the time on a Tuesday night.

Now, would I rewatch this? Honestly, no. Just because I like FirstKhao as an acting ship doesn't suddenly make me a changed woman. I am set in my ways. I am more likely to rewatch their scenes in Only Friends or The Heart Killers than I am this. I think I was able to enjoy this as much as I did because I only had to watch one episode a week. Everything was spaced out. If I had to binge it, I'd have likely dropped it. Or it'd have taken me a lot longer to complete it. But for those who love fluffy shows and like this ship, yeah, I believe your rewatch value/likelihood will be much higher than mine

PS. High school BLs (with age-appropriate actors) are the only exception to my dramatic side eye. They are 1000% allowed to be fluffy and cute. I will eat the shit up every time.

A Quiet Kind of Love: Why Cat for Cash Stays With You

As someone who has a immense love for cats, Cat for Cash felt incredibly special to watch.

At first glance, it comes across as a soft, cozy series a simple story set in a cat café filled with warmth and quiet moments. But underneath that softness, it carries so much emotional depth.

Tiger’s character and His immense love for cats, yet not being able to physically touch them because of his allergies, felt like such a quiet but powerful metaphor for longing, loving something deeply while being kept at a distance. And yet, he never lets that stop him from caring. That says so much about who he is.

Lynx, on the other hand, carries a much heavier emotional journey. The grief of losing his mother isn’t just about loss it’s about everything left unsaid. The feeling that he was never loved enough, or that he came second to the cats in the café, stays with him long after she’s gone. That kind of pain wondering if you were ever “enough” in a parent’s eyes is something the show portrays so honestly. Watching Lynx slowly unpack that, confront it, and grow from it was one of the most beautiful parts of the series.

His character development is incredible. From someone guarded and hurting to someone who allows himself to be loved, especially by Tiger felt so natural and earned. And Tiger being that constant, gentle presence in his life made their relationship feel so real and safe.

And I have to say the acting was just so good. Which honestly doesn’t surprise me at all because it’s First and Khaotung. But the way they brought these characters to life felt so natural and effortless. You could feel every bit of Lynx’s grief, confusion, and growth, and every bit of Tiger’s quiet love and patience. Their chemistry wasn’t just believable it felt lived-in, soft, and deeply real.

Their love story is what truly makes this series shine. It’s soft, patient, and deeply genuine. Watching them slowly become boyfriends and eventually get married felt so natural like a quiet promise growing stronger over time. I also loved how they embraced being “cat dads,” building a life together that felt full and meaningful in its own way.

One of the most touching parts was their fear of telling Tiger’s mother about their relationship, especially knowing she had always hoped for grandchildren. The way the show handled this was so beautiful from that fear and hesitation to Tiger introducing their cats as her “grandchildren,” and her gradual acceptance. It felt real, gentle, and deeply human.

As someone who has been in a queer relationship and doesn’t necessarily dream of having children but would absolutely love a life full of cats, this felt incredibly validating. It showed that love, family, and happiness don’t have to fit into one traditional mold.

And then there’s Granny Ju… her passing was one of the most emotional moments in the entire series. She was such a meaningful presence in Lynx’s life, and you could feel just how much he loved her. That loss hit deeply not just as losing a pet, but as losing a piece of comfort, memory, and home.

Overall, Cat for Cash is more than just a cute BL with cats. It’s about grief, healing, chosen family, and learning to accept love both from others and yourself. It’s soft, but it stays with you.

If you’re looking for something comforting yet emotionally impactful, this is absolutely worth watching.

Fluffy and Cute Cats: Big Tiger & Lynx

I love this fluff and cute side of First and Khaotung, they have been great since The Eclipse, their debut series as a couple. They have a remarkable chemistry.

Now moving on to 'Cat For Cash' series, Lynx never liked cats—or his mother. But when he’s stuck running her cat café, he has no choice but to team up with Tiger, a charming debt collector who can actually understand cats, to pay off her debts.

After watching the first episode of 'Cat For Cash,' I'm so glad and convinced that they are growing together in their craft as actors, and can take given script now.

We are used to seeing them turning from enemies to lovers and in action or thriller storylines, this series 'Cat For Cash's reveals their versatile side of them. It's cute to see them in such a setup.

FirstKhao, I've been a huge fan since day one.❤️

So cozy from beginning to end (even with the tears!).

I can't recall why I started watching this show in the first week, as it's not typically something I'd choose, but I'm very happy I did because it's become a beloved show for relaxation. It was full of tender elements along with romantic ones.
The talking cats really captured my affection. It was integrated into the plot so smoothly, and thankfully, not at all cheesy.

I’m brand new to any of First and Khaotung’s shows, but it won’t be the last, I now need to watch everything they’ve been in. Their acting and chemistry was amazing. I could happily watch more episodes of Tiger and Lynx being happy in their cat-raising life. And Lynx being Tiger’s favorite cat is too adorable. All those slow blinks to each other and petting got my heart racing!

Started off good but got boring overtime

I started this drama cz i heard gangster x cafe owner🤭 and also cz of FirstKhaotung. Loved episode 1 soo much i put it on hold to binge watch but then i couldn't control myself so watching on air again. It did get a little boring in episode 2 but then it got better. Personally i feel this series would make a much better webtoon than a series cz cats play a important role here. Usually in the animal movies I've watched they add expressions and mouth movement to the animals which is not the case here so that felt kinda weird for me. What they've done is not bad just that it's not what I'm used to. Another thing that's kinda new here is the Lynx is literally a cat in human form not a guy who looks like a cat. The way Khao stands, turns everything is pretty much cat like also the change in scent when in love. That's something new.

I think ep 2 is the only boring episode so far the rest of the episodes are soo damn cute❤️❤️. I think this is the 1st time firstkhao are not lying or hiding things from each other in a drama😆. Ahem can i say i am shipping Doc. Pom and Leo. Ik that won't come true cz both have their partners🤭 guess it's a ghost ship for now. They're both soo adorable when they're jealous haha i love it!!

Edit: that was my opinion around ep 5 but the show went downhill after they got together. It was boring and draggy just pure fluff and it had nothing that made me want more. I forced myself to finish it.

- When i hear mafia/debt collector i expect some push and pull like we see in other dramas which was absent here
- Lynx's original career kinda got sidelined in the show. I was expecting a bit more clarity on that side. I really dont feel lynx liked the cats enough to choose them as a career.
- the entire show felt repetitive overtime. There was no spice no twist no nothing it was as flat as it could be.

I feel it would be an ok watch if you like pure fluff no story or if u watched it on air but binging it would be hard

Best soft series ever !!!

Truly a masterpiece... very heartwarming, good story line, mature characters, no toxicity, just pure love...all episodes are v. carefully designed, especially the last part of each episode hits hard...Only series whose each episode i have watched more than twice...
FirstKhaotung are amazing as always...
especially liked the character ''TIGER"- mature , understanding, supportive- setting benchmark of a good partner...
FIRST KANAPHAN- I'm deeply impressed by First...His face is the epitome of rare emotions , his SMILE is so bright...
like all his characters, be it- Akk, Sand., Kant... "SandRay'' couple in Only Friends was iconic...
truly enjoying this soft series , also eagerly waiting for their upcoming series 'The Invisible Dragon'...

Cat Cafe's For the Soul

This was adorable. Nothing too crazy happened, had plenty of cute sweet moments, Khaotung stole my heart yet again! I needed a more lowkey BL to watch after all the crazy ones I've watched so far this year. This felt just right and made me desperately want to work at a cat cafe. Please give this one a chance, even if you're a dog person!

Ottima performance.

Heartfelt Moments But a Stretched Ride

This series really reminded me just how good First and Khaotung are. They don’t just act—they live in their roles, and every time they’re on screen, the energy shifts. Honestly, they’re the main reason to keep watching, because they can take even a stretched-out scene and make it feel worthwhile. The mother-and-son storyline was another highlight. It had this warm, heartfelt vibe and gave the show a bit more emotional depth. That part felt genuine and touching. Overall, it was a good watch. The beginning set the bar pretty high, so I was expecting a little more payoff toward the end. Still, the performances carried it, and I’d say it lands at a 3+/5 stars for me.

I wouldn’t say I liked it, but I didn’t hate it either...

I wouldn’t say I liked it, but I didn’t hate it either - it comfortably sits in that one-time watch zone.

FirstKhaotung are, without a doubt, the strongest part of the series. Their chemistry is effortless, their expressions feel natural, and their dialogue delivery is always on point. You can see why they’re such a loved pair.

But here’s where it didn’t fully work for me - they shine so much more in intense, morally grey, bad-boy roles than in soft, fluffy ones. After watching them in Only Friends (and those NC scenes 🤤❤️), this softer dynamic just feels a little underwhelming in comparison. It’s not bad, it just doesn’t hit the same.

The storyline itself isn’t bad at all. It’s simple, sweet, and easy to follow. There’s no heavy angst, no big emotional rollercoaster, and no major twists - which can be comforting if you’re in the mood for something light. But at the same time, that lack of depth makes it feel a bit flat and forgettable.

Honestly, I feel like this was more of a casting mismatch than a story issue. The plot needed a pair that naturally fits the soft, cute vibe, while FirstKhaotung feel made for something darker, sharper, and more layered. With different casting or a more intense script, this could’ve been much more impactful.

If you’re a FirstKhaotung fan, you can give it a try for their chemistry alone. But if you’re expecting something gripping or emotionally strong, this might not fully satisfy.

I'm giving it 6/10 and yes, most of that is for FirstKhaotung’s chemistry 😻❣️
