Side Couple dominating the whole series.

To be honest, this show lacks in everything. The only thing that keep this on trend is because of the side couple, Zeke and Fifth.

There were times that i almost skip the whole scenes for the main lead due to the slow progress of their story and it took so much time to see the chemistry of their connection and acting (or maybe there is nothing at all).

The story is somehow good but the acting is not really smooth. We cannot deny that the side couple really dominate the whole series than the main lead. Also the adventure of the lost dog, Chuk-chuk, literaly more interesting than the main lead. ?

Well...

This was a crazy ride because, while I'll admit to having a soft spot for some of the recurring characters from My Day (and, of course, My Day brought us some much needed entertainment during the quarantine period), this was quite messy in many ways. Here are my pros and cons:

PROS

TRANS CHARACTER STORYLINE. I do appreciate that they gave Ms. Becky a love interest and an actual storyline, as opposed to treating trans characters as simply an embarrassing attempt at comic relief.

ZEKE/FIFTH. Well, what's not to like? Two attractive young guys that had no problems showing off their hot bodies and getting into some steamy scenes. Can someone hand me a fan, please? And their acting was quite acceptable as well.

THEME SONG. I liked it in My Day, and I continued to like it here. Catchy tune, and fun.

WIN. Teejay is handsome and I think he tried his best, with what he was given as a script, and to play off of.

CONS

CHUKCHUK. Don't get me wrong, I love dogs. But when they started that "Chukchuk is missing" crap (AGAIN!), I was ready to punch a baby in the face.

SKY/WIN. It felt VERY forced. I realize that Miko Gallardo is one of the producers, and he was steaming hot in My Day. But he seemed very uncomfortable here. It's obvious that he's put on some real weight since My Day (where he was in underwear model shape). No, I'm not fat shaming. I only mention it because he seemed very awkward in the shirtless scenes. Teejay tried really hard, but there was just no chemistry and they had little screen time as a couple, and the proposal at the end seemed... weird.

DAD DYING. Unnecessary drama, at least from what I could see. Although... it did give Miko (Sky) a chance to show off some tearful acting chops we may have not known that he had.

MS. BECKY. I know... I said I appreciated her love interest storyline, and I do (especially with a younger, sexy guy... go Becky!).
But... she's an aging adult, and her reaction to Marco's having had an ex-girlfriend was REALLY high school. Most adults would take the high road and have an adult conversation with their lover to find out what was up. Silly. And, while she claimed to be so worried about Chukchuk, it became clear she would have had that mutt euthanized in a second for a photo op. (Why did she still have Ace's beloved dog to begin with?)

JELAI. Okay, he's portrayed as the aging and not particularly attractive, over-the-top effeminate comic character. That isn't my biggest complaint. It's that they turned him into a pervy creep, asking his students Zeke and Fifth who was the bottom. That's the last thing the LGBTQ+ community needs. Barf.

PRIM'S EX. Whatever happened to him? We dealt with Mr. Jealous for several episodes, and then he was just... gone. Hello?

PRIM/SKY THING. I have no idea why they introduced that. Not that women don't fall for gay men... it happens. But the whole premise came off as unnecessary filler.

I didn't hate it, but I can't call it a success, either. My Day got a 7.0 from me... I'm giving My Story a 6.0, and that's mainly because Zeke/Fifth provided enough hotness to keep my rating from being pulled several points lower.

Only watch this for ZekeFifth!

Zeke, Fidth and Win are the only characters who didn’t make me cringe..

This show was trying to do so many things: highlighting LGBTQ+ folks, make us laugh, make us cry, etc.. the problema is that none of them are done well.

The acting was hit & miss, either extremely uncomfortably/awkwardly bad, or very natural (ZekeFifth scenes).
The dialogue was ROUGH, and you can tell there’s a LOT of ad libbing, but not everyone can pull this off.

The storyline is a hot mess. You really have to forgive a lot to get thru this whole show, or fast forward much of it.

on the positive side-
I was happy to see ZekeFifth are getting lead roles in the next season, because they’re the only ones I’ll be watching.

A wasted potential, not my story at all.

MyStory is definitely not my story. Filled with great actors, a great premise setting, a good soundtrack, and production quality, but that's that. That did not help save how the story is played.

Let me start off with the obvious ones, I'm going to talk about ZekeFifth, who was the main spotlight of the show. The main storyline was overshadowed by how great their chemistry was. WHICH IS A PROBLEM. It's not their series, they're meant to be a side couple, It's not good when your main couple, the one that's supposed to run the story, becomes less interesting than them.

Throughout the story, there were a lot of misses when it comes to achieving a good reception.

THE LEAD AND THE SIDE COUPLE: Looking back at the first episode, they could've struck gold with the setting of premises when Win and Sky met, I could say the same for ZekeFifth, but the rushed pacing of the story ruined it for me. They could've pulled cliche tropes like enemies to lovers or boss makes the worker suffer, maybe even fluff it up, but of course, this is Oxin and it ain't Oxin without skin-to-skin.

THE LEAD COUPLE: There wasn't any chemistry between them. This is a bummer, both Miko and Teejay did lots of acting projects, and they're great actors at that. Unfortunately, they didn't have the opportunity to shine here.

THE SIDE COUPLE: Admittedly, I like their chemistry, but their development as a couple seemed rushed as well. There could've been a slow-burn opportunity here. However, their personalities tend to change when it's about falling in love. Fifth's stern and hardy personality wasn't found after meeting Zeke, and so is Zeke's careless and airy behavior. Where were those?

PRIM: In the first episode, she was seen as this cold-hearted boss who has fired great chefs from all around the world, and in the middle of the story, we kind of lost that personality as we welcome the soft side of Prim. It kind of sucks, this change was unjustifiable for so many reasons; it didn't play out nicely whatsoever, as there wasn't any character development of some kind.

FINN: Where is he? That's it. From being an asshole who keeps harassing Prim's employees to literally disappearing. I'm pretty convinced that he's a timelord traversing every universe to appear and disappear whenever he wants to.

THE BOARDERS/FIFTH'S FRIENDS: I don't know what they do, their importance to the story is as important as a lighter that ran out of fluid; they're just there, but they don't have any use, nor they don't have any big contribution to move the plot.

SKY'S DAD: Really? Why on earth would they kill off a character that way? As if Sky's dad was something of importance to running the story. It wasn't. You can spare me a mourning episode, as I can't cry with them. Yes, Sky's dad was sweet, and very nice, but not enough to cry with them as viewers. Not to mention how abrupt his death was given the minor clues leading us to it. It was a copout, it was disappointing, and for what?

MISS BECKY: One aspect of the show that I thoroughly enjoyed was the character of Miss Becky. Her presence added a lot of charm and brought a unique energy to MyDay and MyStory. It was refreshing to see a character of her age represented on screen, and I had high hopes for a narrative that could have explored the experiences of older members of the LGBTQ+ community. However, I was disappointed that the show barely touched upon this theme and instead focused on a cheating scandal. Miss Becky's story had the potential to offer a compelling narrative about love and relationships later in life, and it could have shed light on the challenges and triumphs of older gay or transgender individuals. Unfortunately, this opportunity was largely missed, and the focus shifted elsewhere.

MARCO: The choice of Miss Becky's interest, Marco, being a young man with adonis-like traits, felt somewhat disconnected from her journey. While it's not to say that it's inherently wrong or impossible for individuals with age differences to form genuine connections, the narrative could have been enhanced by a love interest closer to Miss Becky's age. This would have provided an opportunity for a more relatable and nuanced exploration of their shared experiences.

ACE: Ace did not appear in this story, but his absence was felt all throughout. Even if he did leave, (and yes, I'm aware of the issue) they still should have justified his departure and not swept him under the rug during the majority of the story. It made me confused about lots of the other details of the story.

KEN: WHERE IS KEN? I swear, every single one of the MyDay characters recurred their character, but Ken. If Ace's disappearance was something confusing, what more for Sky's SIBLING? Not only were they swept under the rug, they were erased from existence. While yes, another minor character, the lack of their mention still sucks, a simple addressing that they departed or whatever could've provided closure.

THE DIALOGUE: The dialogue is fine, however, if I hear another dick joke, I am going to lose it.

Now for a fully rushed storyline, I find it surprising that they still managed to cram in lots of events in one episode. We just mourned for Sky's Dad's death and now Miss Becky's marriage, and 10 thousand more minor storylines that needed conclusion. Needless to say, a LOT happened, during that last episode.

Some more things to look at are its inconsistencies:

1. A five-star restaurant like Prim's is too understaffed, to say the least, and their restaurant is very undercrowded as well, to the point that their bills are probably putting them in jeopardy.

2. THE CHUKCHUK INSERTION. Chukchuk is cute, and most definitely the star of literally the past two shows Oxin Films have produced but damn, he just does not make sense anymore. Wasn't he Ace's dog? Why on earth would he leave his dogs behind? And for the same reason, why leave it with Kim?

3. How did Gelai become a school dean? For a span of months? From being an office worker for a Cake Company? Shouldn't they graduate with a Master's Degree first before being able to even be able to run a school?

THERE ARE MORE TO MENTION.

And even if it's supposed to be camp and isn't meant to be taken seriously, I didn't find it something to be laughed at. Those inconsistencies did not scream "cartoony," or "quirky," it came to me as insulting as a viewer. The jokes aren't landing, the humor isn't humoring, it's sad.

In closing, it is important to emphasize that this critique is not intended as a personal attack on the actors or production team behind MyDay. Creating a show involves the hard work and dedication of many individuals, and their efforts should be acknowledged. However, it is crucial to hold any creation to certain standards and expectations.

As a Filipino myself, I have witnessed outstanding BL shows that have set the bar high for storytelling and representation. While I maintain hope for future Filipino BL productions, MyStory falls short in meeting those standards. It appears to prioritize commercial appeal rather than genuinely celebrating LGBTQ+ couples or delivering a well-crafted and engaging plot.

I still wish the best for Oxin. Please make a decent BL next time.

loved Zeke & Fifth (hope we get an official cut of their scenes)

Overall: I loved the sweet/flirty dynamic and natural chemistry/relationship with Zeke & Fifth. I really hope the writers don't add in some stupid cheating/miscommunication trope in their next series. I want to see these two deal with conflict (mostly external), communicate, and grow together, plus fluff and well done NSFW scenes :) My Story is the sequel to My Day minus one of the protagonists. Aired on Oxin Films YouTube channel, 10 of episodes about 45 minutes each.

Content Warnings: bullying, trans women/effeminate male stereotypes, manhandling, slap, held against will, beaten up, abusive ex and something major at the end of ep 9

What I Liked
- Zeke and Fifth had an enjoyable and realistic dynamic, their flirty banter was great and also both being interested in skinship/sex
- chuckled a few times like it's not 2 inches, it's 8 inches (however the innuendo should not overpower the plot which it does several times)
- cute moments like the cuddling
- calling out toxic masculinity regarding Drake (unfortunately then they were lovey dovey shortly afterwards with no shown character growth from Drake)
- supportive parents and friends
- discussing how sun block is important to protect from the sun not because you don't want your skin darker

Room For Improvement
- the mentality of one take was good enough, sometimes it was cute but it definitely felt low budget
- stereotypes with trans women and effeminate male characters, this is really disappointing to see, the maid outfit, the hypersexualization, the clown humor, I didn't laugh at any of this "humor" and it was featured a lot
- I skipped the main characters' scenes and wasn't really sure why, they just didn't hold my attention
- in episode 1 there was just 1 line and not responding to emails to explain the breakup, wish they gave a better/more fully developed explanation (update, in episode 5 we almost had too much explanation/time spent on it)
- thin plot, I love Chuk Chuk but this is the main plot for 2+ episodes???? if they couldn't come up with an engaging/fleshed out plot then better to have a shorter series such as 6 episodes and make those episodes really awesome
- some relationships moved super fast in the final episode
- choppiness, Fifth had all of a sudden left the house and was walking on the street? a character was in one country in the last episode and then suddenly in a different country?
- non realistic/logical things, Zeke had to be the photographer but then he modeled, so who was the photographer/it obviously wasn't important that he was the photographer
- educators asking students about their sexual positions, no thanks
- the amount of actual commercials (episode 1 starts 4min20s or past the intro at 7min)

Unforgettable, unredeemable

If in "My Day The Series" I said Miko Gallardo and his steamy scenes had saved the day, this time they won't, they can't. The director went too crazy overboard by forcing a sequel to My Day that ended up instead with a forgettable, unredeemable movie in My Story.

First, Miko's love (Ace) just disappeared in thin air. And the UNCONVINCING (again!) justification is that their romance didn't work out. What?! After so much effort that was invested in My Day to creating a solid, till-death-do-us-part love life between Sky & Ace the director simply stuffed it out to naught? Incredible!

Second, by forcing a sequel, My Story became an endorser of the inaccurate homophobic notion that no strong bond between same-sex lovers could ever last long. It's a big slap to the LGBTQ+ community to promote such kind of idea.

Third, why didn't the director simply create a new brand of BL series in My Story rather than cover up the disappearance of Ace? (Ken's disappearance was not even given any reason at all.) That should have been acceptable to those who have learned to love the cast of My Day. I put all the blame on the unprofessional hands of the director.

Entertaining Series

The series was fun and introduced some great characters like Zeke and Fifth. I do miss seeing the original couple Ace and Sky, which were great together. The story does a good job overall in continuing the story of the characters. I wish they kept a lot of the original but a few changes happened. i was wondering where Sky's brother went as well? Some parts of the story did not make sense of how people who are not from the original cast went. There was of course the father moment that broke my heart as I just lost my mother at the same time and this series did help make me remember that I am not alone and these are things we all go through. I love the bringing in of Zeke and Fifth and their story here. The ending felt rushed with Sky getting engaged to Win and I was not feeling that pairing at all sadly. This was overall an OK ending to Sky but felt rushed, but this was a better season 2 than Our Story season 3 which was the horrible story for Zeke and Fifth.

FIFTH AND ZEKE are the Main lead here !

The first thing I noticed is that for some reason I don't like the acting of the mom of Sky, I know that maybe they have no script and everything is impromptu I guess, but she is somewhat over acting, but it is bearable anyways
The Story is light and very Filipino, I started to appreciate my own country's work, its been too long since I watched my own country's drama and so far I missed doing it and for this, it is a good job all in all specially I don't have to watch it with subtitles.
For Some reasons I can't feel the spark of Sky and Win , I don't know if it is because they are both look like an alpha male but I don't know maybe they are just a bad match for me .
I hated chukchuk ! like they consumed almost 2 episode looking for that chukchuk what the heck is that ! everyone is too dramatic for a normal set up, they should've focused on the development of the love story of Win and Sky, but it all wasted on the chukchuk, instead they made the love story of sky and win into like non-stop green jokes I don't like that.
I like the Ms. Prim and the restaurant team being in the series also the 2 guy friend of fifth.
I skipped the part where Tatay Robert died, I don't like being sad about someone died, I am surprised that he died here by the way.
I skipped the part of Ms. Becky and the gym instructor lol
Fifth and Zeke are my Baby's ! they saved the show ! because of them I have watched it to the end, that is the spark and the fluttering moments I am talking about, like every time it is their part I can always expect something new ! like literally all I ever did in this drama is to wait for their moment ! and that is why I am happy they are having their own sequel I hope that the director and the screen writers and all that will do the sequel will make it beautiful because this boys are gem !
maybe I will re-watch this on their part only
by the way Sky is always been charming and Win is super pretty face and very good acting he is my crush ❤️

OXIN and impersonating clichés

Why does OXIN always manage to stage over-exaggerated, cliché faggots over and over again with several actors? It is degrading. It is NOT funny. It serves a silly, heterosexual stereotype. Especially at a time when arch-conservatives (fascists/NAZIs) are waging a kuturkampf against the entire LGBTQIAplus community, massively attacking just the two smallest groups, trans women/men and children, and drag queens.
Yes there are the over-exualised queers, so what? but why over and over again and in heaped form? Why in a way that degrades this group of people? In order to advance a plot, the corresponding characters can also be portrayed differently ...
These cliché faggots drag down the whole film.
