Quick, satisfying and easy to watch
Have you been watching historical/wuxia/xianxia dramas and been disappointed in how they finish off the villains? Perhaps they don't show them being punished, perhaps the punishment is too light or perhaps, and I hate this the most, they give them a redemption arc and a happy-esque ending?Well worry not because this 21 episode mini-series has handled all the villains perfectly. Short on time they could not really show long torture sessions but they did the next best thing <3
The writing was good, they did stumble once in the end but then again as a mini-series they did not have much time to continue blundering so that saved it. The acting was good enough. The FMC has the chops for long series heavy screentime characters. The MMC however needs either more acting lessons or a different character- his expressions were too smiley (?) for this role. The side characters were good too.
All in all, for a short drama, this is worth your time and I would definitely recommend it

the acting was good! the costumes were gorgeous!!
the leads had good chemistry and understanding of each other. they were so clear about their affection to each other that it saved me from the frustrations of dragged out romantic misunderstandings.
what I liked about fl's character was that she didn't show fear or confusion the moment the original events were dealt with and new challenges were thrown at her. Aldo she fell in love with ml but didn't change her personality! she wasn't dumbed down for ml to look smart, they worked together perfectly. (except in ep 17/18 in which fl made a stupid move and got both of them in trouble)
Here comes my complaints about this drama:
-my main issue with this drama was the dubbing. specially in earlier episodes it was hard not to notice that the audio didn't match or wasn't in sync with their lips.
-the other issue could be the abrupt start of some episodes without prior build up from the previous episode. (though this is common in short length episode cdramas)
-episodes 17&18 were a bit too out of place and out of character for both leads in my opinion. so it deserves its own complaining line in my review!
So should you watch it?
*it's a decent one to start watching short cdramas if you are new to the format.
*it's quite fast paced so it's very binge worthy.

A bare-bones version of the familiar rebirth revenge story
FL rebirth revenges must be a thing. I have watched a bunch of them by now and they’re all just variations on a theme. That’s not necessarily a bad thing- they can still be enjoyed on their own merits- but I found this one to be on the mediocre side. It’s a short drama and too much has been trimmed- some meat along with the fat- resulting in a very straightforward show with little nuance.Like the others, this show features a smart and capable FL who schemes and maneuvers her way to success. The villains are definitively Bad People who consistently do bad things, while she consistently outsmarts them. Retribution is swift, and villains surface one after another to be whack-a-moled away. She also has a textbook romance that doesn’t take too much time or effort to establish. Pretty much the show just takes all these classic formulaic elements, strips them down to the essentials, and packages them into a quick 21 eps x 10-11 minutes.
I think this show scoped too much story for its runtime. Fans of short or vertical dramas might not take issue, but I disliked the jarring short-drama symptoms of too many big things happening in too quick succession. Narrative expediencies aid the plot, reveals and big events lack buildup, and some things are poorly explained (eg the FL’s career- what exactly is her official role that she’s representing her maiden family, and how is her gender such a non-issue?). I still got the idea of what was going on, but I felt like I was watching the outline of a story rather than a fleshed-out story itself. But I admit this may also be partly my fault because I watched it extremely sped up.
The show also fell extra flat for me because I had such little emotional attachment to any of the characters. Once in awhile, one lead or the other’s past is alluded to, but these feeble attempts only served to remind me that there’s practically no character development in this show. And I don’t just mean them developing and growing, I mean developing and building out characters and their personalities. I couldn’t care for the main characters, let alone any of the cartoonish villains or the barely-present side characters. And also, I felt absolutely nothing about the romance- I sped through lots of those scenes at 3X speed.
The acting and production are ok. It’s hard for me to judge because I watched it so sped up, but at least I mostly believed the characters. The FL looks convincingly badass. For the ML, I don’t know if it’s his styling, his acting, or just his face, but somehow he kept looking like he was wide-eyed smiling when maybe that wasn’t the most appropriate expression. The villains are too cartoonish, but that's at least partly the writing.
The costumes, SFX, sets, music, occasional fight choreo, etc are solidly decent for a short drama. I did notice that this show keeps some idol elements with posing and slow-mo, which I thought is a waste of time for a show that can’t even manage enough glue between events to pace its plot properly.
Overall, I think this is a fine watch if you like this formula; this is not the best version, but it has all the essentials and doesn’t mess it up too badly. It’s still coherent and complete. But for me, having watched so many versions of this FL rebirth revenge story, I found it not that interesting or special. Other shows, even other short dramas, are able to tell their stories while still getting me emotionally invested. This bare-bones version has stripped away all the things that would have made me care, to tell the shell of a tired story I’ve already seen before.

The Fallen Lady Got Up Greatly
The Fallen Lady Returns is such a great short drama. Zhang Xi Yin (played by Teng Ze Wen) was forced to marry into a family by the evil empress. Her husband and in-laws wanted her shops and wealth so badly. The husband killed her and left her for dead. She was reborn and set out on a path of revenge. She worked out a association with the emperor's brother, Prince Duan Jian Li (played by Zhan Yu). He was very apprehensive when it came to dealing with Zang Xi Yin, in the very beginning. When it seemed that their alliance was not going to work, she tried to meet the prince's sister, but the guards turned Xi Yin away. She waited in a building not far from the temple. An assassin wanted to kill the princess by knocking her out and burning her alive in the temple. Xi Yin rushed into the temple and got the princess out, but she herself was trapped until she was rescued by Prince Jian Li. The bond between Zhang Xi Yin, Prince Duan Jian Li and his sister was formed.Anyways, I will not rehash what others reviewers already reviewed. I would just say that Prince Jian Li was responsible for getting a divorce for Zhang Xi Yin, away from the evil family. She learned to kill and she was very intelligent. She was a great schemer. She saved the emperor from the empresses rebellion and thus saved the country.
Zhang Xi Yin and Prince Duan Jian Li were set on their course of bliss.

Masterpiece & Must Watch
An absolute masterpiece of a drama, this is my first time seeing this ML as the lead. He performed phenomenally and had great chemistry with the FL. The two carried a great plot and script, although, their acting was so good together they could have read the phone book and I would have watched it. That being said the actual costumes were stunning and the camera work was done very well as well. I love how she wasted no time on revenge and planned for the future early on. The 2ML (original husband) did a great job as well. I actually felt bad for him when he shot her with the arrow. His expressions and small details about him were done VERY well. The queen's daughter was very annoying but she was supposed to be. She was a spoiled brat who was the catalyst for their entire plot falling through. Her stupidity and lack of a vision caused them to start digging especially when she wore phoenix robes to her wedding. The sad (ish) bit was that the Queen was abandoned by the King of Xilian who didnt even bother protecting his own son and daughter. Instead the king/man who actually loved her had to kill her because she betrayed him and chose treason. I do wonder what happened to her family though because treason is a reason for 9 generations of extermination. But she didnt care about her family and vice versa.Was this review helpful to you?

Oh my god the production, cinematography, acting, music, just blew me away. The storyline is the typical trope of "my husband and his lover killed me just to get my riches" but this revenge is now served with intelligence and a beautiful slow burn love story. Not as many kisses as I was hoping but it makes up for it with the electricity you can feel between them so I stayed for the ride and I'm glad I did.The emperor is not an idiot thank goodness. The twists are typical but they don't treat the audience like fools. I called them all and I loved it. The acting from the FL is superb, the glares alone omg girl yes get it! The acting form the ML was also superb, he definitely loved seeing her get her revenge and make people look like fools. This is a man who was 100% behind her every step.
The rating is 10 since at the end, which was a very lovely ending, I was like "NOOO I WANTED MORE". Just so good from beginning to end.
Recommend if you love revenge dramas with an excellent slow burn romance. It does get a little slow but every scene is show with a purpose, I'm just impatient lol

Corto, y muy, muy disfrutable
Un mini muy bien hecho.La fotografía, la producción: hermoso, muy bello. Tiene unas imágenes preciosas.
El casting: los principales, muy pero muy bien elegidos. Ella, sobre todo. Brilla toda la serie.
Guión: intrigas políticas, sobre todo, con una trama de romance entretejida pero que no distrae. Me gustó el balance. Una FL con una inteligencia y una capacidad de estrategia admirable, que no pierde la calma y que ve la cosa como un juego de ajedrez, pero sin perder los sentimientos y con el corazón en el lugar correcto. Un ML que acompaña, la respeta, la ESCUCHA y está ahí para ella, incondicional pero sin interferir.
La relación de estos dos es de lo más SANO que vi en mucho tiempo. Hablan, se comunican, se ponen de acuerdo; y son un dúo de temer para sus enemigos. Suman sus virtudes y restan sus defectos. Una pareja hecha en el Cielo, vamos... me pasé los últimos 10 capítulos diciendo "¡Ya cásense, por favor!" 😂😂😂 Nada, se aman y se nota. Y se RESPETAN. Mucho. Lxs AMÉ 😍
Lxs secundarixs, bueno, sobreactúan bastante, pero no me molestó, la verdad.
La historia tiene sentido, y se comprende bien. No la demoran ni la acortan demasiado. Me gustó también.
En resumen: la disfruté, me gustó, me tuvo enganchadísima mientras la miré y la volvería a ver. Por más FL como esta 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻

- kết phim : HE- nội dung : theo cảm nhận của mình về nội dung cũng như cốt truyện phim khá cuốn, xây dựng tình tiết hợp lí, nhưng về sạn thì vẫn có. Nhưng đối với mình phim ngắn mà làm được tới cỡ này là quá đỉnh rùi. Coi mà ghiền không thoát được luôn ấy 🥲, coi không biết chán là gì
- diễn viên : mình đánh giá khá tốt nét diễn của 2 ac, diễn tốt lắm luôn ấy, từ ánh mắt, biểu cảm, nó lôi cuốn thì thôi nhé
- kỹ xảo phim : đây là phần mình cho điểm trừ, kỹ xảo còn nhiều chỗ hơi lộ với giả. Ví dụ điển hình là cảnh na9 che’m cổ ông kia, nhìn ma’u nó xịt ra giả lắm luon :)))
- ngoại trừ đó thì tổng quan mình thấy đây là bộ phim khá tuyệt vời, nên xem thử nha. Mình đánh giá khá cao về bộ phim này
