To continue or not????

I used to like Park Min Young. But of late, I find her dramas boring. Her acting has become so one dimensional and predictable.
Don't even get me started on her looks..... She just seems way too thin to the point of looking gaunt.

The drama plot? seemed interesting at first but then WHJ seemingly starts to fall for her after being adamantly believing she is the culprit??? Not realistic at all. Is it believable for someone to be interested in the 140K payout after cancelling the policy??? (am i correct in understanding that for every policy cancelled there is this amount of payout? Amount is fairly small to commit murder)

So, those 2 points are my only gripes so far.

Am I contemplating finishing this? not sure.........

A beautiful start

The tension between the two main stars is absolutely sizzling and full of feistiness. The storyline is really engaging so far, and I’m loving the chase the male lead is giving. The second male lead is also amazing—his expressions, even though he hasn’t had many scenes in these first two episodes, are outstanding. Truly impressive acting.

I do think they could add a few more details to the story, but considering it’s only a 12-episode drama with hour-long episodes, it’s understandable.

One thing I’ve noticed is that some people are commenting that the female lead looks sickly or that her expressions seem off. Honestly, before starting this drama, I watched some of her interviews to get a sense of what to expect. I think she lost a lot of weight for her role, and her expressions, while they may feel a bit irritating, are intentional. That’s exactly the point—her performance is meant to evoke a specific reaction.

We have to remember that actors often go to great lengths for a role, whether it’s changing their appearance, losing or gaining weight, or completely transforming their demeanor. I’ve been following her since High Kick, and I think she’s doing an incredible job in this drama.

Didn’t expect the story to be this good

Okay guys let talk about siren kiss. I watch the trailer and I was like oh my God will I be able to watch this cos am not into Thriller drama but am glad I gave it a try. The plot was good and I love the fact that you can guess the bad guy already then there is always a twist to it. I was surprised on the romance too cos I thought they might be too boring with each other but I loved the way they protected each other even when others thought it won’t work between them. Overall I like it cos it shows that even when we least expect it that someone out there will always care and walk you through the darkest moments of your life. Kiddo to all the team members and crew. Great job 👏

Y'all relax. It's decent but it should have been a HIT

Its sole problem is that it looked too good in the beginning. The posters rock, the summary captivates, the cast is stellar.

Three top actors, a suspenseful plot, an enemies to lovers romance with the art world as a background? I was seated.

So what's the issue?

Cowardice.

Of the writers, not the characters. Let me explain: we were promised a morally grey, fascinating heroine that embodied the siren archetype, luring men into their deaths. But we got a tortured woman who was very capable at her job and shouldered all the tragedy stoically. This isn't half as interesting. She was always right, or wrongly accused! They were too afraid to make her misstep or exhibit even a shred or fallacy. She was a starved saint in gorgeous jewelry.

If there was a more nuanced approached to her character, we would fall in love with her; now we sympathize with her. And it's not as if PMY can't do charming but human--look no further than Forecasting Love and Weather. She can make weather sound fascinating, she has that in her. But here her performance was intentionally subdued, and that would work if the character had other avenues to showcase emotional depth, but she wasn't given the chance to save for ep4. The methodical, strong revenge heroine is easy to be a hit with me, but it must be done more like the Su Ryeon in The Penthouse way: grounded in her experiences, choosing to raise hell and clashing with a handsome man in the process.

Speaking of handsome man, I was giddy to see WHJ in a romance after rewatching the beauty that was The Midnight Romance in Hagwon. The man can do action like no other (Worst of Evil), but he always imbues it with emotional weight. He tried in this story, but he quickly lost the push-and-pull dynamic after going fully boyfriend mode. I love love, but even with two of my favourite actors, i struggled to get the romance. I understood it, but i didn't swoon like i did when he was making out in cars (those who know, know).

TL;DR: The plot is satisfying, it will keep you guessing and it will resolve. The romance could use a boost. Watch it!

A Visual Masterpiece With a Weak Plot

“Siren’s Kiss” is a drama that hooks you from the very first episode. It has a stunning cast, great music, and strong visuals, but there are a few “buts” that slightly ruin the overall impression.

I’ll start with the actors. I’m a huge fan of Park Min Young and her roles as a femme fatale — I’ve always thought those characters suit her best. I knew Wi Ha Joon from “Crazy and Bad,” and just like Min Young, he also did really well in a dramatic role. The rest of the cast also performed their roles excellently.

The plot is genuinely interesting and keeps you engaged. You remain unsure about Han Seol A’s guilt until the very end. However, the main issue is its simplicity. No matter how well the actors perform, the story turns out to be too predictable. It feels like the writers were trying to mislead the audience, but they didn’t succeed very well, and from the early episodes it becomes clear who is who.

The relationships between the characters are also poorly developed. We are shown that Seol A and Eun Hyeok were close, but the only real evidence of this is a few scenes — for example, when Seol A protects him and Eun Hye from their father, and some bar scenes where they drink together. Because of this, it’s unclear where Eun Hyeok’s obsession comes from.

The relationships between Han Seol A and her lovers are also only briefly shown, and it’s not clear what exactly attracted them to her. This is another weak point.

Another thing I dislike is how the main characters constantly break the law without any consequences. For example, Cha U Seok casually enters crime scenes and private property even though he is not a police officer, and still faces no punishment. The same applies to Seol A and other characters. There are too many moments like this, and it would take too long to list them all.

Despite everything, my expectations were still somewhat met. The main mystery — who killed Seol A’s lovers — is kept until the very end.

The OST is truly amazing, as is the cinematography and production work.

I would recommend "Siren’s Kiss” for its beautiful visuals, strong cast, and overall atmosphere. However, if you’re looking for a serious detective or thriller story, this is probably not for you.

BEEN WAITING FOR THIS GENRE CONTENT

I AM sucker for psychological romance that subverts people's expectations —

Frankly, is the story/plot or premise very fresh — not really. And frankly, it could be more layered and more fleshed out — but as of episode 5, I can tell you even if the writing is not super layered, the performance and overall treatment did get layered.

I also would like it if they wouldn’t force some twists just for the sake of it — subversion works only if it is not a trope, and frankly so far it doesn’t feel like one.

Yes, audience can pick up on certain things — a bit of foreshadowing or letting in on the "secret" — that is very intentional — it is not bad writing. The writers want us to find out before the characters — and that is exactly the frustration that writers want from us.

Having said that — I truly hope they keep peeling the layers of the character that Han Sol Ah >>>

Coming to the other character — Yes, the ML could have been written better — it is obvious that his obsession hasn’t been completely justified — but I know this is just 12 episodes and since audience are also glued in to get some "chemistry" between the characters, the writers had to throw in some absurd reasons for his obsession — without taking the time to justify it.

Fair enough — we have watched enough romcom where the LEADS just happen to be around for the ML to catch the FL who is a complete stranger — and we are fine with that. Compared to this — premise is at least believable of why they meet — they even give us a sneak peek into his REAL first impression of her — he was already caught by the Siren before he could figure out what was happening.

There is amazing potential for the chemistry between the characters — I wish the actors could lean into the roles and their characters’ attraction for each other though — right now it feels like they are reading it off of the script and performing the chemistry (AND YES IT STILL LOOKS TANTALISING) — rather than feel it — like the actors aren’t convinced of their roles yet.

NOW coming to the godawful subject of the actress and her weight — as a person who has been underweight her whole life, I can safely say YES WHAT YOU GUYS ARE OBSESSING OVER IS VERY MUCH BODY SHAMING.

Firstly — I hear she did this on purpose — secondly — are we so blinded by our set standards of what a person SHOULD look like that we can’t settle for anything that doesn’t conform. Seriously, GET a life and enjoy the SHOW. IF you watch drama for a certain "Aesthetic" — there are plenty of shows out there where the leads look almost like a copy of each other with nothing to notice but boring "perfection" and photoshopped faces.

I tried but it didn't work.

It had a good premise but it didn't work, I hardened until episode 4. The posters and trailers said one thing and the K-drama showed me something else entirely. It was terrible, but I had to watch it because of WH; if it depended on that awful actress, I wouldn't have even started. Then I got the spoiler about who's the killer, it worsened my view of this drama, it says it's a thriller but I only saw romance and a very forced one like chemistry which I didn't see any....

A suspense drama that isn’t suspenseful.

I feel like this show might be properly made, but it can't catch my attention. The pace is too slow for me. There isn’t a single moment in the story of ep 1 that makes me pause to think, feel startled, get curious or really crave any kind of revelation. It’s not suspenseful at all, even though it’s supposed to be a suspense drama.

What actually made me pause to think instead was the FL’s appearance. The last work of hers I watched was from 2018. Eight years later, her face has noticeably changed, but not in a naturally mature way. It feels a bit strange to me. It’s kind of a pity that her face became the main thing that kept me watching through ep 1, just trying to figure out which part of it gives off that strange vibe. And it also makes me wonder if that’s why she chose to act in this role by not moving her facial muscles much.

By the way, I just finished watching "Beyond Evil" and that is a suspense drama done really well. It kept me constantly craving the truth, the revelations, the answers. So the details for comparison are still very fresh for me and it really puts this show at a big disadvantage.

Vale a pena assistir !
