An honest look

This drama shows relationships in a realistic light. The confusion, the happiness, the panic and the fear mixed with the sadness
highlights the bond that the two protagonists share. They are both musically gifted as well so the music enhances the bond.
There is familial history which is never made clear, but the psychological scars are explained but not thoroughly. It leaves viewers with questions. Altogether a pleasant drama with to watch with great music to listen to… I watched it twice mainly because of the pleasing story ,music, and character development.

Melodious Series but lacked something in the ending

Even when it was short, the series was cute, tells a part of the story.
One thing that was missing from this series is a proper complete ending, maybe they saved it for Season 2.
The chemistry between the leads is great but could have been better if it had more zing in it.
One thing I liked about this series is the working theme instead of the school/college one. I think more Bl's should be made on an office or Business theme. Many times School College theme contains very immature and stupid content.
Music was pretty good, which I rarely say for a movie / series.

It had potential but it didn't deliver

The plot was very predictable, which is not a bad thing. It had a lot of potential to be great, to go deeper and really develop the relationship between the two main characters. Sadly, the execution is where the series fell short.

The pacing was very confusing. I was never sure how much time has passed between the scenes, how long have the characters knew each other, etc. It made the story progression and any possible relationship development hard to follow and understand. There are also some plot holes that leave a lot either unfinished or without any prior explanations. And all that just added to how patchy the series was.

Kang In Soo & Yoon Sang Yi: I didn’t really believe their love. I think it has a lot to do with how patchy it all was. They simply weren’t given enough time (on screen) for them to make their love easily understandable, believable. Separately, I found each of them very sweet. Yoon Sang Yi is a little awkward and gets tongue tied when he is close to his crush. It is endearing. Kang In Soo seems closed off and is someone who doesn’t necessarily trust easily. At the same time, it seems easier for him to connect with people through music.

Lackluster

The music was *almost* good enough to make me overlook the poor writing, acting, and story of this drama. Almost.

It started so strong but was so disappointing. I watched the "movie" version of it, and by about 60 minutes in, they'd only had one conversation, and Sang-i was gaping at In-su like a fish the entire time.

There were so many montages, and not really much *talking* between them, so all you would see is two guys smiling at each other and patting each other's heads and apparently that, paired with some music was enough to make us believe they cared about each other, especially in a non-platonic way.

And it was incredibly cliche, there was instalove and a really sad, unfulfilling episode that made no sense and was "resolved" in about 8 minutes. Trust me, I counted. I kept hovering over the "time remaining" bar because I was curious how they were going to save this train wreck.

Not to mention, it's TW: implied that In-Su is going to kill himself at the very end, because his father won't let him pursue music in the industry. His friends desperately search for him and then- ... fall asleep? What- you didn't think to call the police after that note? And then he comes back after getting his ankles wet for 10 seconds to magically love the other lead, and find all the good people at the studio have quit their jobs and plunged themselves into financial chaos with no plan? Knowing his father is still out there actively harming his career? And what happened to the "no dating" rule? It was rushed and sloppy.

There was no chemistry between the leads, and Sang-i was all but robotic the entire time. It's a sad moment when the side characters are all so much better than the main leads - to the point it was laughable when they were on the screen together.

Maybe I just expect too much from Korean BL seeing as I've mostly come from Taiwanese BL, but I just felt it was so lackluster and disappointing.

I will say - the one redeeming feature (besides the music) was the "kiss" scene. One of the leads is drunk and passed out, and it looks like he's about to kiss him whilst unconscious - but he stops. I respected that. Consent is sexy, and not enough Dramas remember that.

A Beautiful BL Drama That I Wish To See More Of

THIS WAS TRULY AMAZINGGGG AND I WANT MOREEEEEE. It really drew me in so much because of it's characters, music, scenery and the concept displayed. I absolutely love the OST and especially the song "Wish For You". It's written so well and beautifully that I play it for hours. I also love the fact that the singer played himself. The drama progress was great and it had a great flow of plot through the episodes. With all that being said I highlyyy recommend this dramaaaa!!! It;s definetly worth rewatching and I will do just that RIGHT NOW!!

xo,
nicki.

Lacked substance

I thought this show really lacked any substance. It was 8 episodes long but if you asked me what happened, it would just be shy guy was obsessed with new artist guy. Shy guy finally meets when gets signed at the label he works for. He then disappears after shy guy kisses him. Then some how they end up together. Idk how they ended up together? It just happened no build up it felt very disjointed. It was weird how they built up this story of the guy becoming a new artist and then boom his dad who own the parent record company, doesn't want him being an artist so he can't. He then just settles for making music with shy guy. Happily ever after; the end. I felt there could have been more important things to concentrate on.

Production wise cinematography was beautiful, acting was quite good, it was only the story which was seriously weak. To My Star which was also made for Viki had the same short format, and a lot of unanswered questions but as a show it felt complete and was quite beautiful.

A bit of a lackluster

As soon as I saw Insoo in this drama I got really confused to see him in this context, but also excited lol. I didn't have very high expectations because it's such a short drama, but I was still a bit disappointed.

The pacing felt way off, due to the fact that they tried to cram a at least 10-16-episode story into 8 episodes. They had too much happening and too many plot points to go through for such a short minidrama.

However, the cast was fine, and I'm personally really proud of Insoo. My inner lowkey Myname fan (MyGirl) was happy to see him act well haha.

I mostly blame this drama's shortcomings on the writers. They could have done way better. Insoo, Lee Sang and the other cast members did their best to combat bad writing.

However, I scored this a 6.5, because it wasn't all terrible, even though it was a bit lackluster. If you're bored or if you don't have anything else to do, I think watching this could be a decent way to spend an hour and a half.

These Short Series Are Killing Meeeee

So before I go into the review I just need to say, WE WANT LONGER SERIES!!! Korea is notorious now for making short BL's and it's driving me nuts. "Mr.Heart" did it, but with that I didn't really feel the need for more necessarily. This series though I could definitely see having been an amazing full series! They had great casting and music, so why not just lengthen the episodes? Having 15 minute episodes doesn't give enough time to develop plot and characters enough. We wanted more and we needed more. Though they also released a film version on Netflix and I actually prefer it that way! It flows better as a short film and they added some contextual scenes.

First off, the music in this is BEAUTIFUL holy crap. That first scene of In Soo singing curbside was amazing. Great cinematography in this of the city, really pretty. The story was interesting and I liked seeing bits of the business behind becoming a musician in Korea. I would've loved to see a whole series of it, but what we got was still good. The final episode could've been better though. I didn't like the suicidal implications the show was giving, to just throw that away as a misdirect? Wasn't a fan, but seeing the two leads make their own music and business together was nice.

I'm actually curious how this series happened, because the two leads are kpop singers in respective groups? Using their real names in an lgbtq drama!? That's amazing and much appreciated. I hope for more of this down the line (which it seems like there are more and more series being announced for 2021), but definitely with longer premises and episodes!

Would Recommend to Watch!

Honestly, I enjoyed watching this kdrama. The actors were both very attractive if your into that. The supporting roles did well in the drama. I love the music in this drama that I even added it to my Spotify list. Every time I listen to it, it gives me chills cause of how good they sound together when singing. One thing I will say is that I wish there was a season 2 for this, I really want to continue watching them.

Overall, I would totally recommend watching this if you haven’t yet!

Series and edited into film

I watched the film, as sometimes find such short episodes interruot the story's flow.
Kang In Soo and Lee Sang are really sweet together. Their characters are quite understated; there's no OTT melodrama or unnatural discomfort. Sang-yi's slightly shy and humble, yet supportive and positive personality sits so well against In-soo's deeper more confident one. They compliment each other well.
The 2 more intimate scenes were nicely done and the actors were believable. No wooden or uncomfortable posturing.
I liked the story, but did feel that some of the scenes in which feelings were being individually contemplated, against the fitting soundtrack, were a little lengthy. They could have been shortened and a bit more added to other parts of the story; possibly their relationship deepening, or a bigger hint of their musical success to come.
A very nice watch though.

Such a beautiful film.

The many additional scenes were delightful and helped character development. And of course, the music is exquisite. Love the soft romantic undertones that shine mostly through the eyes. There is hardly anything explicit, not even the two simple and short kisses. It‘s the story of two kindred spirits and the solace they find in each other regardless of gender. @reb Why are you even here if you aren’t open-minded enough to accept that love is love that doesn’t need to be limited to certain pairings you would deem acceptable. Even Korea has started representing bl, which is remarkable and a good sign that acceptance is slowly developing. Let’s hope there will be more representation in the future, including all other LGBT pairings.
