This is how you do an original GL!

In the GL scene where many series are book adaptations, it can sometimes overshadow original works, especially given the not-so-great reputation of original GL series in the market so far. But amid this, "Love Beyond Dreams" stands out as a great original GL series that deserves more attention. While this series may not be the first GL series to explore time travel theme, it certainly shines as the best in its execution and storytelling. Every aspect—from the intriguing plot and top-notch production quality to the skilled cast, and even the smallest details—comes together seamlessly to offer a captivating viewing experience.

In my opinion, the strength of the series lies in its well-structured script, which boldly mixing a dark mystery with high-stakes 'romantasy' and skillfully balances all elements of drama, angst and action. Created by MAME, a producer and screenwriter primarily known for BL content, this series marks her impressive venture into GL storytelling with a unique and compelling approach. Even with just 7 episodes, this series manages to maintain a laser-sharp focus on Ran and Lene's central conflict without suffering from mid-series pacing issues or unnecessary side-character romances to stretch the story.

In addition, its high production value is widely praised—the cinematic framing, color grading, and visual aesthetic did wonders in enhancing the mood of each scene. The shipping container maze scene is amazing! Plus, the intense, palpable chemistry and dynamic between Mie Phattharanan and Aya Orapan are particularly impressive, lending authenticity and depth to their characters' relationship and making their connection on screen feel genuine and heartfelt. Aya's acting has improved a lot from her BL side-couple era. And you gotta love the melodious OST by her too.

Despite having many good points, this series is still not the perfect one. In my opinion, Lene's backstory could be polished to make her character more emotionally impactful. And the actual mystery and "whodunnit" elements felt overly simplified, thin, and rushed through by Episode 5. It feels like the suspense suddenly stops there, leaving you to just wait and see how the antagonist will meet his fate.

Even though it may not have generated the same anticipation and buzz as some book-adapted series, "Love Beyond Dreams" stands out as a gem in the genre. Its originality, along with solid performances and a balanced story, makes it a worth watching for fans seeking quality GL series beyond the generic stuff.

Underestimated, Underrated MASTERPIECE

Ep 1 - SOLID this episode 1 of LOVE BEYOND DREAMS! A love story wrapped in a crime thriller. Very promising!!

Thought LOVE BEYOND DREAMS would "just" be a good rehash of DENIED LOVExDANGEROUS QUEENxREVERSE FOR YOU.... It's turning out to be something beyond the enemies-to-lovers trope into a good crime thriller!

But I feel bad for LBD Ep 2 - It ran into major superstar-level competition like HOMETOWN ROMANCE, BROKEN OF LOVE, 4ELEMENTS: AIR.... I'm confident though that given how good LBD is (and how beautiful its two stars are), it'll find its footing soon enough🥰😍😘👏💯❤️🇹🇭

LOVE BEYOND DREAMS Ep 5 - We thought, "thank goodness, no more migraines, GIRL RULES ended happily!" And now, here's all the twists and turns of LBD, and we go, "oh no, more migraine attacks!" Haha haha haha But we're such a sucker for GL pain, that we keep on watching... And every time Khun Lene smiles, we smile too🥹😊

I keep on looking at MIE's face and I keep asking myself, "why are her features so familiar?" And it dawned upon me: MIE is the daughter of FAYE PERAYA and FREEN SAROCHA! 🥰😍😘🇹🇭❤️😁🥳

I just completed LOVE BEYOND DREAM's Final Episode 7 and here's what I think (⚠️ SPOILERS AHEAD)
If you've been watching a lot of Thai GL long enough, inside your head there are thoughts of "P'Le and Nu Rann are Khun Sam and Mon re-booted and revitalized, version 2026" and "You did well, Donut's uncle, IYKYK" and "Why does this somehow feel like an alternate universe version of 'Shadow of Love'x'Reverse4You'?!"

Now, onto a crazy finale review: 1. Time travel x crime thriller x love story x family drama = LOVE BEYOND DREAM's whodunnit appeal hits across all audience demographics.

2. Mie Phattaranan Padpai (P'Le) is adorably sexy as the gun-slinging, hard-punching, flying-kicking Princess Charming out to save her Lady Love from the clutches of the evil King-Dad. But it doesn't sit well with an Asian family-oriented audience that she cried a river over Peem's untimely demise but never shed s tear for her father (no matter how vile).

3. Those cutely ubiquitous dimples of "Donut's Sweet Uncle" (ref. Play Park) are more substantively written about than the Peem role itself.

4. "The Office" seems to matter a lot to P'Le, that its the setting not only for lotsa stuff that went beyond PDA, it's also where P'Le proposed! Obviously, father and daughter were workaholics to the bone!

5. Why "forcibly" squeeze in everything into the 7th episode? A lot of expository flashbacks and hard-action drama could've been shown in Ep 7, then all the romance could've unfolded in finale Ep 8. But no, let's kill off the bad guy (and the good guy), lets get in on in the office, and let's get married and live happily ever after! All in the last episode, ep 7.

All in all though, LOVE BEYOND DREAMS is still a solid 9/10 for sheer effort. And for Mie🥰😍😘😁🥳🇹🇭❤️à

A Perfect Match with Unforgettable Chemistry

I honestly don't want this series to end. Every episode makes me fall in love with Mie and Aya even more. Their chemistry is so natural, beautiful, and heartfelt that sometimes it feels incredibly real. They have brought so much warmth, happiness, and emotion to this story.
Mie and Aya are truly one of the most special pairings I've ever watched. Their acting, expressions, and the way they look at each other make every scene unforgettable. I sincerely hope they get another project together, and hopefully an even longer series, because I am not ready to say goodbye to them yet.
Thank you for giving us such a beautiful journey. No matter what happens next, I will always support and cheer for both of you. Please keep shining and achieving new milestones together. ❤️✨

The "time travel" makes (almost) no difference. It gets forgotten in the middle of the story.

I went to watch it without knowing what it was about, and I'm finding the series "average." Neither bad nor good. The main couple didn't charm me, the secondary characters are nonexistent, there's no comic relief, the romance is reasonable, a little boring at times, so far I haven't found a "dramatic charge" in the series, and I found the acting to be mediocre. In addition, I didn't like Ran's personality; she cries too much. I understand that she lost someone she loved many years ago, but the series didn't give time to "show" how much she loved Lene. I can't empathize with her because I didn't see that love on screen. It lacked better development.
The good part: The series had good production, the script also seems to be good, and the plot and depth of the characters is the best part of the series. For now, that's it.

It was ok

This was an okay GL overall,i was interested in the storyline, but the chemistry didn't really click for me, tge plot had potential, especially with the time travel element, but it felt underused and eventually lost my attention

Ple actions were frustrating for most of the series, even with the whole "I'm doing this to protect you" justification, she often came across as unnecessarily harsh rather than sympathetic and for a supposedly massive company, it felt like there were only three employees running the place

What ultimately made the show disappointing was how predictable and anticlimactic it became, The father being villain reveal, Peem's death, and most of the major twists were easy to see coming, which took away any emotional impact.

The production quality and visuals were definitely strong, and the premise was genuinely interesting, but the execution never lived up to its potential.

Definitely one of the top indie/sleeper hits of this year

The whole series was top-notch from beginning to end. A couple issues notwithstanding, I'd definitely recommend this series to anyone that likes a good story and good action.

My only issues with this series was I didn't like that Peem died for the red string. Peem, Dean and the dad were all at the funeral. Any one of them could have taken the hit for the red string besides Lene. Dean was a childhood friend of Lene, and though I know it wouldn't have made sense for him to die in order to take Lene's place, he makes about as much sense as Peem, in that, he had nothing to do with the story, besides being a decoy for Lene's plan. The dad should have been taken Lene's place, because deep down she still cared about her dad. It's why she didn't outright kill him, when he had the gun on Rann. I get why they chose Peem--he was like a big brother to Lene and his character was only there for the revenge on the dad for Lene's mom, someone he saw as a mother figure. I get that, but still if the dad was going to die anyway, why not have him be the one to take the hit for the red string? This point, and the horrible ADR and song choices in the episode six love scene are why this series gets a 9/10, instead of a 10.

Besides those issues, I really liked this series. The chemistry between the actresses who play Lene and Rann was top-tier. Mie, the actress who plays Lene, very much gives me Faye Peraya Malisorn vibes. She is what would happen if Faye and Freen had a baby girl. Her acting , especially her facial acting is very good, something that many praise Freen for, and she has that opposing, commanding presence of Faye. I've seen Ava, the actress who plays Rann, previously in a series named Love Sea. She was good in that series, so I figured she would be good in this series, and I wasn't disappointed. She's able to play a character who's somewhat vulnerable on the outside, yet has a strong inner strength with just the right amount of believability, so that the character feels very grounded in the story and that's a big plus.

On the whole, this series is definitely up there with shows like Heart Code for top indie/sleeper hit of this year. This is following in the vein of other indie shows that are showing from of these bigger production companies how it should be done. Great job to the actors and production of Love Beyond Dreams and to Me Mind Y.

P.S. I can't wait to see what Me Mind Y has for Miephat and Ava next. I hope they can get another series going soon.

Undereated and Highly recommended

I absolutely loved this series and highly recommend it, especially if you are looking for something more than the usual lovey dovey storylines. It has more action and more tense moments than other gl's.

The only thing that wasnt completely explained was the reason for the red thread. It kinda of appeared in the story then just actually disappeared onscreen without explaination. You get the gist of it but its only through guess work. But this tbh is just a minor thing in this amazing series.

Mie & Aya are brilliant, beautiful young women and very talented. The chemistry was great throughout the series. Great work from them both and look forward to any other series they are in because I am now a fan of them both. Aya fits the strong character so well and Mie fits the softer but stronger than she looks character in this series. They fit the roles so well. Would watch it again if I was struggling to find new series. Or even if I just fancied watching it all the way through in a day or two continuosly.

10 out of 10 for me personally, some may disagree and thats perfectly fine, it all comes down to what kind of series you enjoy the most.

So Average It Hurts

I really tried to like this – time travel is such a great and interesting trope if done right. Unfortunately, it was wasted in this story. Almost all of Ren's research (which she does having some sort of knowledge about the future) is done off the screen, and aside from the first episode, the concept of time travel is criminally ignored. There are many things I would have simply overlooked if I had not anticipated a proper story. First, the script: Lene is a boss of a company. Want to know something more? Sorry, that is all. There are four workers in the huge-ass building who sometimes go for meetings to throw random buzzwords like "shares" and "sales". They also, like Ren, hand Lene documents. What kind of documents? Just documents, what more do you want to know? The writing is so lazy, all company-related conversations felt like a big waste of time since they provided exactly nothing. Secondly, the editing. In one shot the person is, in the next one they magically disappear. Shoes are on one side of the bed, in the next shot they are on the other. The editing of the classic scene of falling on the bed was so comically unreal even by romance standards. And the amount of slow motion, do not even get me started on that. On the bright side, I think the acting was not bad. The chemistry, I could see it. I just wished they would convince me. The thing is, I was painfully conscious most of the time that I was watching a drama. Not a delightful story, not a breath-taking romance, just a drama with actors saying their lines and half-decent scenography.

Why keep fighting for someone who hurt you that much and disappeared from your life for five years?

Why keep fighting for someone who hurt you that much and disappeared from your life for five years? The series never fully convinces me of its answer, but it does make that question interesting enough to keep watching.

The biggest issue with the series is its starting point. Ran has already lost almost everyone important in her life, making P'Le the one person she can truly rely on. That makes P'Le's rejection and the way she pushes Ran away incredibly difficult to forgive. It remains hard to fully understand why she had to be so harsh, especially considering how vulnerable Ran was. Because of this, the series asks the audience very early on to forgive a love interest who causes an enormous amount of emotional pain, which makes it difficult to fully root for P'Le throughout the first half of the story.

The central mystery is stretched out for so long while misunderstandings continue to pile up. For that reason, the early episodes often feel more frustrating than entertaining.

The later episodes do a much better job of delivering meaningful and well-written conversations that balance serious emotional discussions with lighter and genuinely funny moments. The late revelations make it easier to understand the characters' actions and motivations, particularly P'Le's, and help justify some of the choices that initially felt difficult to accept. The acting from the two leads is consistently strong and helps sell both the emotional and more dramatic moments. The series also features several surprisingly well-executed action scenes that add some excitement and variety to the story.

While the plot often relies on convenient resolutions, some logical inconsistencies, and an underused time-travel premise, the emotional connection between the leads remains the strongest part of the show. In the end, the story works less because of its plot and more because of the character development and dynamic between Ran and P'Le.

I quite expected a lot coming from MMY and these actress (especially Aya). I know they can both deliver gem, and they did.

The story is amazing. I'm a big fan of time travel and yearning. So I love when someone time travel to save their soulmate.

Aya... Aya... What Can I say? She did an amazing job. I could feel all her emotion through her eyes. Ran is the sweetest. She stay true to her feeling even when Lene was the worst.

I put my trust in Lene. I believed she had her reason to act the way she did. And I was right, she had all reason to try to save Ran. And Mie did a great job playing Lene.

I hope Mie and Aya can play together again! They got great chemistry.

The NC scene are really hot... Not to sound pervert but the sound, the choregraphy... I'm weak...
