Listen to me and ignore all the negative comments. This is one of the best kbl’s that I’ve watched and I’ve watched every single one I could find. The story is AMAZING. The plot twists are wild and so insanely unexpected and the chemistry of the main couple was beautiful. I enjoyed every single second of this series. There wasn’t a single moment where I was bored or thought “wtf is this..?” And there’s a lot of bls recently making me react negatively. why does the BL community cap so much?
this piece of work was mid, at a generous best. it had the perfect premise but fell short. the episodes and the run were not long enough. i cannot believe how hyped it was for how many gags and nonsensical things that occurred. the intimacy was also lacking. i felt more when the leads were asleep together and looked at each other than when they were actually engaging intimately. how does that make sense?i did not rate the music truthfully since it had no impact on me and was not memorable. the opening animation was intriguing though.

First of all, I love the whole story of this series. I love everything from the casts, story, execution, music, and such. I was fascinated with the lead actors…I was mesmerized and in loved with their chemistry. It’s really one of the best k bl dramas to watch this year and I would definitely rewatch it soon. I badly hope for it to have their season 2 because it’s kinda short. After all, I hope the actors would still be in touch with each other. I love this series Was this review helpful to you?

A darker story that deserved a stronger ending
A contract killer x cop is such an unusual setup for a BL, and that’s exactly what pulled me in from the first episode. The darker atmosphere, the mystery, and the constant tension between the two leads immediately caught my attention, and their chemistry made every scene together worth watching. Unfortunately, as the story went on, I felt like the writing didn’t fully take advantage of such an interesting premise. Tae Jeong often made impulsive decisions that were hard to believe coming from a police officer, and after a while it became more frustrating than compelling to watch. Seo I Do’s emotional journey was one of the highlights for me, even if his change of heart sometimes felt a little too sudden. My biggest disappointment, though, was the finale. The last episode was incredibly rushed, major conflicts were wrapped up far too quickly, and a few plot developments simply didn’t make much sense, leaving the ending without the emotional impact it should have had. Even with those flaws, I still really enjoyed the series because it dared to do something different from the usual BL formula, and I only wish the execution had been as strong as the idea behind it.Was this review helpful to you?

Story: The Lie We Lived delivers a captivating blend of mystery, thriller, and romance that remains consistently engaging from start to finish. Its premise feels refreshingly original, offering a welcome break from more predictable BL storylines. The opening scene immediately establishes a tense atmosphere, setting the tone for the suspense-filled journey that follows.One of the series' greatest strengths is its use of cliffhangers. Nearly every episode ends on a gripping reveal or unanswered question, creating genuine anticipation and making it difficult not to immediately start the next episode. Rather than relying on cheap twists, these cliffhangers effectively deepen the mystery and keep the narrative momentum strong.
The flashback sequences also deserve praise. While they initially seem like they might be unnecessary filler, they gradually prove to be essential pieces of the puzzle. Each flashback adds meaningful context to the characters' motivations, relationships, and decisions, making the eventual revelations feel earned and emotionally satisfying. By the finale, every layer of the story comes together seamlessly, making for an immersive and thoroughly rewarding viewing experience.
Acting/Cast: The cast delivered compelling performances, with every character fully committing to the emotional intensity and psychological weight of the story. Kim Seung Beom was the undeniable standout as Seo Yi-Do, portraying the character with remarkable nuance. His expressive eyes alone conveyed layers of pain, suspicion, vulnerability, and determination, making his performance both captivating and emotionally resonant.
Kim Kyung Min was equally impressive as Chu Tae Jeong. Although he didn't initially embody the stereotypical image of a police officer, he won me over through his natural portrayal of Tae Jeong's cheerful personality and slightly gullible yet sincere demeanor. His warmth provided a refreshing contrast to the series' darker atmosphere, making his character easy to root for or even hated by his poor decision in one of the episodes (no spoiler) I really screamed with what he did.
Together, Kim Seung Beom and Kim Kyung Min shared convincing chemistry and effectively portrayed the emotional tension between their characters. However, the romantic development felt somewhat rushed, resembling a whirlwind romance that could have benefited from more gradual progression and deeper exploration. Their connection was believable, but I wish the series had devoted more time to building the emotional layers of their relationship.
The supporting cast also deserves recognition for elevating the series. Each character added complexity, darkness, and toxicity to the narrative, creating a tense and unsettling atmosphere that kept the story engaging and reinforced the psychological stakes throughout. Rage is the name of their game, and they really did increase it every episode.
Music: The soundtrack effectively enhances the emotional impact of the series without ever overshadowing the scenes it accompanies. The background score heightens the tension, suspense, and emotional weight of key moments, adding depth while allowing the storytelling to remain the primary focus.
A standout choice was Lo Que No Dije, which felt like a refreshing departure from the usual Korean-language OSTs commonly featured in K-dramas and BLs. Its melancholic yet emotionally charged sound perfectly complements the series' atmosphere, reflecting the characters' unspoken feelings, lingering tension, and unresolved emotions. Rather than simply serving as background music, it became an integral part of the storytelling and left a lasting impression.
Rewatch Value: The Lie We Lived is still a series I would gladly revisit, particularly for its standout suspense sequences, emotional confrontations, and expertly crafted cliffhangers that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout its run. I also find myself wanting to rewatch Seo Yi-Do and Chu Tae Jeong's romantic moments, as their chemistry felt natural and emotionally grounded. The tension between them was consistently palpable, and the scene where their bottled-up anger gave way to a passionate encounter remains one of the series' most memorable and emotionally charged moments.
However, my enthusiasm is tempered by the ending. Ironically, while the opening scene was one of the series' strongest moments—immediately gripping and setting high expectations—the final scene didn't deliver the same impact. It felt rushed and somewhat underwhelming, leaving me wanting a more powerful conclusion. After consistently ending episodes with memorable cliffhangers, I expected the finale to close the story with the same intensity. Instead, it lacked the satisfying payoff I had hoped for, making this my lowest-rated category despite how much I enjoyed the series overall.

More than a BL
WOW just WOWI can't really put it any better than that, this show was so much more than a BL. when people think of BL's it has to be said that the things that come to mind are Lovey dovey, Enemy's to Lovers, School or uni setting etc. With this show it felt more like a short series where the love story just happened to be between 2 guys. I don't remember seeing any of the normal BL troupes. Instead we got a series that was genuinely amazing and kept my interest all the way through.
I have to admit that this is probably the 1st BL in a very long time that i have watched where i didn't fast forward or skip parts. For me this has similar vibes to "Love on the Line" in that it felt like you were watching a series with Gay characters rather than the usual BLs we get. I can't recommend this series enough and if you are wavering then please just watch the 1st episode and i can assure you that you will be hooked.

Another Wasted potential woth lazy writing
sigh,The concept wasnt bad,the writing was,nothing gets properly developed, character decisions was dumb as hell, and the plot just stumbles from one thing to another without giving anything enough time to breathe, i couldnt picture how tae jeong webt through The questioning, and how they wrapped the case with all these bodies and messy crime scene,that happy end didn't make sense,the leads had chemistry that match their acting skills which isnt much but visually they were beautiful, overall good idea wasted by weak execution

The thumbnail looked good. Actors looked good so I clicked and omg. Seriously it's been quite a while since I watched so bad BL. Nothing make sense, acting is so bad, concept of the story would be okay if well executed and well written but it's not. I just watched few episodes to see how more ridiculous can it get. I call similar to this drama. "0 effort, profiting out of BL obsessed audience, 1 bedroom/house drama". It's so ridiculous omg. Plot doesn't make sense. Contract killer that falls in love with Cop and both are terrible at their job apparently and kidnapped guy that is so quiet locked in basement... Yeah right totally realistic. Kisses were okay but whole falling in love came from nowhere and plot is not explained at all. Le vrai mensonge de cette histoire, c'est peut-être de vouloir nous faire croire que Tae Jeong est un flic…Le scénario manque de finesse et présente des incohérences, mais le principal défaut est dans la construction des personnages, en particulier le duo principal. Tae Jeong est un flic naïf, sans instinct de survie. Comment peut-il espérer survivre là-dedans ? Comment a-t-il survécu jusqu'ici, d'ailleurs ? Du côté de I Deo, l'idée d'un tueur mélancolique avec un talent pour la peinture est bonne, mais son volte-face est si rapide qu'il en devient déroutant.
Cela dit, la photographie et la mise en scène sont superbes. L'atmosphère fait illusion, renforcée par une caméra qui oscille entre la proximité et la distance. Changer de décor est agréable avec une musique discrète et oubliable.
En bref, The Lie We Lived In a le mérite de proposer un décor et une thématique différents dans le KBL, mais dans un format trop court pour lui donner une réelle intensité. Sympathique, bien que peu mémorable.

uma ótima surpresa
Seo Yi Do é um assassino de aluguel que recebe a missão de matar Heo Dong Hwa, mas tudo muda quando seu chefe ordena que ele mantenha o rapaz vivo enquanto procura um celular com informações importantes. A situação se complica ainda mais quando Chu Tae Jeong, um detetive e amigo de Dong Hwa, aparece para passar alguns dias na casa e acaba confundindo Yi Do com o irmão da vítima. Preso em uma mentira, Yi Do precisa esconder sua verdadeira identidade enquanto sentimentos inesperados começam a surgir entre os dois.Gostei da proposta da história, está muito alinhada ao tipo de bl que estou curtindo bastante de acompanhar onde tem o romance envolvido com suspense e criminalidades. O ritmo da história se mantém sem problema algum, quando eu assisti os dois primeiros episódios eu fiquei preso na história e ansioso por mais.
Os protagonistas constroem uma química, não é uma das melhores na minha opinião, mas não é forçado, vai evoluindo aos poucos e convence, é possível sentir o sentimento de um pelo outro, mas o ponto alto para mim aqui é a atuação dos envolvidos, o Yi Do e o Dong Hwa são os personagens mais fortes aqui.
Como ponto negativo, senti que o Tae Jeong é um péssimo policial que não sei como conseguiu passar para a polícia. No entanto a gente não tem acesso a seu histórico como policial, a gente sabe que ele é o tipo de policial íntegro e que se tiver algo errado ele vai investigar, mas um policial que não sabe nem autodefesa e acaba aprendendo com um assassino é de cair o **
É uma série que vale a pena assistir, é curtinha, os episódios possuem um bom ritmo e para quem gosta de romance com suspense vai gostar desse. O final é o esperado, nada de novo sob o sol.

Un bl simple
Pour cette série je suis très surprise de sa simplicité. il y a très peu de décor, révélateur dnune histoire simple et à la fois on ne sait pas qui est méchant qui est gentil, rien d'extraordinaire mais l'histoire fait son effet on a envie d'aller jusqu'au bout, l'érotisme est un chouillat court 😊 ça se regarde vite c'est pour ceux qui aiment les BL sinon rien d'extraordinaire d'où ma note pas très généreuse, par contre l'acteur principal vous savez celui qui est grand !
