Hmmmm. Kind of expecting a lot.

Flower Boy has a very interesting premise. A fantasy series centered around a person's scent being literally out of this world? That's unique. And honestly, them naming Pearl's character "Scent", that was cute.

That said, I can't shake the feeling that this project was rushed. Since Love in the Moonlight was such a success, I assume they wanted to ride that hype. Unfortunately, because of that, I couldn't stop comparing the two. LITM set the bar high and became one of my favorite series, so I kept asking myself: what happened here?

The story already had a solid foundation. They even cast a great actor for Obey. He could have delivered an iconic sassy, toxic ex-type character, but instead they made him sassy yet surprisingly kind. Not that it's bad, but it felt like they didn't fully utilize his potential. There were also quite a few plot holes throughout the series.

Even the climax didn't excite me. I can't exactly pinpoint whether it's the script, pacing, or execution, but the buildup of the romance felt lacking. Because of that, the angst didn't hit me as hard as it should have.

And the ads... please. The product placements were so obvious and distracting that they kept pulling me out of the story.

As for the ending, it didn't really make sense to me. It's not even an open ending. It's just confusing. Maybe there's an explanation I'm missing, but it left me with more questions than emotions.

Sorry if this review sounds harsh. I don't mean to be a b*tch about it. I'm just genuinely disappointed because I can see the potential this series had.

In the end, the thing that truly saved the show for me was PearlPeak's chemistry. They worked with what they were given, and you can tell both actors are incredibly promising. I really hope they get another series together someday because they deserve a project that lets them fully shine.

Flower Boy, it pleases my literary atavisms.

Flowers Boy contains elements that please my atavistic tastes in literature: the encounter between civilization and barbarism (although someone from the city isn't exactly civilized), the myth of the noble savage (who trades gold for glass beads), and, of course, the instinctive attraction of scent (for some reason they don't describe it as pheromones 🤔). The actors are on par with their previous work, Love in the Moonlight, although they distance themselves from the character of their former roles. If they maintain the pace and consistency of the plot twists, I think it will be one of those series that you'll want to rewatch. Incidentally, we'll have to see how Scent redeems itself from the damage it's been doing.

Episode 4 Review

Sent is beginning to love Gaysorn not as a source of fragrance, but as a person he wants to protect.
EP.4 revealed the tragic past behind the perfume company, while jealousy and human cruelty slowly invade Gaysorn’s innocent world.

One31 dramas often revolve around karma, and this story feels like “the sins of the father are visited upon the children.”
The love between Sent and Gaysorn is becoming deeply tied to the dark history of their parents’ generation.

It's good but needs more depth and also kinda incomplete

I do feel the story could have some depth to it but considering it's 8eps and soo much on the plate I get it. I liked it but i feel it could have been better, a little more redemption, a little more depth. I did cry a little but i feel they could have made me brawl like LITML. There are things that kinda feel incomplete for me rn.
- Like they showed the mom being with gaysorn all that time as a butterfly so does that mean mom bought scent to gaysorn? Which is fine but why scent? Not like she met him as a kid and liked him or something (a back story would hv helped
- mata being able to talk to souls, she said she could do it if it was a muda person and they had a belonging of theirs. Busaba's necklace was with gaysorn the whole time and her soul too. Why didn't she talk
- I feel they could have added something to Mekhin like make him a surprise villian or Tawan's end game cz initially i thought it would be MekhinRay but that doesn't look like it's gonna happen and Mekhin liking gaysorn again that is also being left incomplete cz we hv 1 more episode
- they could have added a stronger intent behind ray helping gaysorn. Probably use his affection towards his mom or else his hatred towards scent... make scent a bit more negative someone who just uses people and used ray too
- a bit more on the part where scent falls for gaysorn instead of that timeskip with flashes of what happened etc.
- bussaba going back after 4 years when phukin told her he'd leave after her..no matter how late he would be 2 years would be max before she assumed he was dead. Especially when he warned her about kusuma
- i am still curious how phukin extracted the scent from busaba. Cz he extracted 3 bottles of it while scent could barely get 1. He obviously didn't torture her.
- the last episode felt rushed with the way it ended. They show scent collapsing but then it's a skip to him owning a land with flowers which was kinda incomplete
- i didn't really see why scent decided to go back to gaysorn when he was soo guilty about the parent's death

I really loved MekhinRay though although their characters would be much better with more depth. Ray was my favorite ❤️❤️❤️

I'd say it's a 7 for me rn I'd give it a 10 if they made this a 12 ep drama with more depth.

THIS IS SAURR GOODD LIKE the best I've watched this month of June 😍🥰😤♥️

I've traveled to the future so I didn't have to wait for each episode 😍 no cliffhanger for this watcher 🥰 anyways, some scenes didn't make sense but you just need to rewatch to understand it can't understand it the first watch this plot is legendary ☺️👍

I rate it an infinity out of 10 because of the PearlPeak comeback after love in the moonlight this is saurr goodd and so short at the same time 😔😢 how did they go from 12 episodes to 8? 😤💔

Not the best but still Good

This won't be the best fantasy bl romance honestly but the effort and the acting was good the song choices too and that ending it was Superb! Let's give the benefit of the doubt about the story flow yeah there's a bit lacking on it yeah! but let's be honest there's more bad serie with bullshit arching and plotting even their plot twist either not gonna drop a name but I think you know them already. But yeah this series was worth the watch too the madness against Scent was there I commend him for that acting he act goodly to the point even I was irritated at some point. So my rate was worth it!

A strong start with natural chemistry

For a first episode, this was a really strong start. the pacing felt quick, but it kept me engaged the whole time and left me wanting more.
what really stands out is the chemistry between pearlpeak. it feels natural and effortless, not forced, which makes their scenes easy to get invested in. there’s a comfort there that translates well on screen and makes their interactions feel genuine. visually, it’s also very pleasing, and the overall tone has a nice atmosphere. if this is the level from episode one, i’m definitely looking forward to what’s next.

I love that in the first seconds you are already in the story , it’s only 8 eps so it goes really fast which is not bad at all cause it actually get you hooked from the beginning to the end of the episode ,
you know an episode is good when you just blinked and it’s done already,
such a very strong start , and definitely another masterpiece from PearlPeak ,
i believe people will clock in when more eps are out cause that is exactly what the fans wanna see 10/10

Perfect casts

"I’m absolutely hooked on Flower Boy! The premise of a cold-hearted businessman meeting someone from a 'rare flower tribe' is so unique and refreshing. The chemistry between the leads is electric right from the start. I love how the show balances the high-stakes corporate world with the mystical, soft vibes of the flower tribe. It’s visually stunning and emotionally gripping. If you’re looking for a drama that gives you all the feels, this is it!"
