Annyeong!

In the middle of preparing for Christmas – baking cookies and decorating the house – I had the idea of writing an article about the most important thing in my life (besides my family, dramas, and books) – about music. How is it related to dramas? Well, music is the other big thing which makes a drama truly memorable. If you hear one of your favourite dramas' OSTs, you can't help but remember the characters, the actors, the emotions you have felt while watching it.

As we have a little more than a week until the New Year, I think we should bring back memories of this past year. The list that I made has a lot of 2012 OSTs as well as some older ones, but overall they are from newer dramas. I actually have lots of favourites, so I had a hard time choosing the Top 10 – the ones I listened to the most in 2012.

I chose one song from each OST to represent the dramas, as I couldn't list all of the songs with links - that would be too much to listen to it at once. The order that I put these songs in is not that important, as I couldn't even decide myself which OST I like more. So it's almost a random order. Almost. :)

I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do. But if you not, then please don't forget, this list is only based on my opinion. So, let's start it.

10.  Shin Bora - Crying With Longing (Ghost OST)

Ghost (2012) is a one of a kind drama - which means it's unforgettable. The plot, the cast – especially So Ji Sub and Choi Daniel – were brilliant... Oh, but I should speak about the music, right?

I chose Bora eonni's song called "Crying with Longing" from the OST because it's a special song with lots of emotions. It delivers the drama's mood, feelings perfectly. Shin Bora's voice is beautiful, although she isn't a singer but a gagwoman. I think this song was her first OST.

Other great songs from the OST: MBLAQ's "We Used to Love," and Block B's "Burn Out."

9.  Yoseob, Dongwoon, Junhyung (of B2ST) - Dreaming (Me Too, Flower OST)

Me too, Flower (2011) is a nice winter romantic-comedy with Yoon Shi Yoon. This one had a different feeling too, compared to other dramas, maybe thanks to this wonderful song, "Dreaming" by B2ST. Whenever I listen to this song I get a really 'ticklish' and nice feeling. I hope you know what I mean, it would be strange if I'm the only one... The lyrics make it even more meaningful.

Fans know that B2ST really can sing ballads and after you listened to this OST, you will know this fact too.

Other great songs from the OST: Taru's "I Hope You Can Be," and Yoo Hae In's "The Way It Is Right Now".

8. Kim Junsu (of JYJ) - You Are So Beautiful (Scent of a Woman OST)

http://www.randomdetox.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/korean-scent-of-a-woman1-550x235.jpg

Scent of a Woman (2011) is a meaningful and really emotional drama which can make you cry quite a lot. My favourite song from the OST is none other than the drama's most popular one, '"You Are So Beautiful" by Kim Junsu. To describe Junsu's magical voice is nearly impossible. He has a kind of husky voice and as a musical actor too he can sing with all kinds of emotions. And he does it exceptionally well. Yeah, this is a beautiful song.

Other great songs from the OST: Lee Young Hyun's "Response," and "Better Tomorrow" by She'z.

7. Lee Jonghyun (of CNBlue) – My Love (A Gentleman's Dignity OST)

A Gentleman's Dignity (2012) was one of this year's hit dramas with a great (super fun!) plot and awesome cast. The OST was simply amazing. For me, the most memorable one was "My Love". If it is possible, Jonghyun's sweet voice just made this drama even more unforgettable. I guess no need to say more. Listen to it!

Other great songs from the OST: Juniel's "Illa Illa," and Lee Hyun's "My Heartache."

6. Deok Hwan – I'm Coming To See You (Queen In Hyun's Man OST)

Queen In Hyun's Man (2012) is another hit drama of the year, really popular, especially with international fans. It was such a delight to watch something different from the 'usual' dramas and was so well-made with a super lovable cast. What surprised me the most (aside from the great chemistry... kekeke) is that the music how awesome and suitable was. I had a hard time choosing my favourite song.

I chose "I'm Coming to See You" by Deok Hwan because it shows extremely well the theme and mood of the drama.

Other great songs from the OST: Joo Hee (of 8eight)'s "Another Time, The Same Sky," and Younjae (of 4men)'s "Just Once."

5. Ali – Carry On (Faith OST)

Faith (2012) is another great hit with a wonderful cast and nice effects. (I'm a bit ashamed, as I still didn't finish it because...because I didn't want it to end. I guess you guys know this feeling. Well, I will definitely finish it during winter break, no worries.)

If I said before I had a hard time choosing a favourite, then now what should I say? I think Faith has one of 2012's best OSTs. No kidding. All songs are amazing, magnificent, excellent and... so on. I chose Ali's song called "Carry Onbecause it is brilliant. Again, no need for words, just listen to Ali's voice – especially if you haven't yet.

Other great songs from the OST: Young Jae's "Because My Steps Are Slow," Younha's "Teardrop," and One Piece's "Because It's You".

4. BMK - Hey Buddy (Warrior Baek Dong Soo OST)

http://www.hancinema.net/photos/photo176027.jpg

Warrior Baek Dong Soo  (2011) is another awesome historical drama. If I said Faith has one of 2012's best OSTs, then this drama has an OST which is one of 2011's best dramas. BMK's song is something else. It gives me goosebumps whenever I listen to it. This song draws you in and won't let go. Try it, and I don't think you will be disappointed (unless you don't like historical dramas). It has a wonderful acoustic version too by Park Eun Tae.

Other great songs from the OST: Shin Sung Woo's "Standing," Boo Hwal's "The Only Road," and Yesung's (of Super Junior) "For One Day".

3. Hyun Bin – That Man ( Secret Garden OST)

Secret Garden (2010) is THE drama. You probably watched or at least read about it and most likely you know one song from the OST, as it topped the charts. My number one song from Secret Garden is exactly THAT song. It has two versions – female and male. The reason why I like "That Manby Hyun Bin more, is that I really admire when actors sing for the drama which they are acting in. "That Man/That Womanis a beautiful song with a simple yet unforgettable melody. When Hyun Bin sings, the song has a special 'vibe' to it and I get really emotional listening to it. And you?

Other great songs from the OST: Yong Jae's "Reason," 4men & Mi's "Here I Am," and Kim Bum Soo's "Appear."

2. Jung Yonghwa – Because I Miss You ( Heartstrings OST)

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-sQlzb8sAd4A/TgmPW6y5BPI/AAAAAAAABT4/aB05eQ5tXj8/s1600/hs21.jpg

Heartstrings (2011) is a music-related drama, so no wonder it has amazing soundtracks. But one song really stood out for me. The one I'm speaking about is "Because I Miss Youby Yonghwa. This song could easily be mistaken as a love song if you haven't watched the drama yet - but it isn't. Yes, it is a confession, a confession from a son to his father whom he knew for a while and couldn't tell his feelings...in time. The song is simple yet so heartbreaking. Definitely a must-know-song for music lovers.

Other great songs from the OST: Yonghwa's "You've Fallen For Me," and Park Shin Hye's "The Day We Fall in Love".

1. Sung Jun – Jaywalking/Wake up ( Shut Up: Flower Boy Band OST)

http://i1306.photobucket.com/albums/s580/Brigicz/Shut-Up-Flower-Boy-Band-korean-dramas-32447865-1280-720_zps1e6574a4.jpg

Shut Up Flower Boy Band (2012) is really popular with international fans like QIM, because of the great plot and the way the characters were portrayed...and for one more reason.

When you think of SUFBB, the first thing you remember is the music, the second thing is the charismatic Lee Min Ki, the third is none other than Sung Joon and his awesome voice...and so on.

It was truly, without a doubt, about music (and friendship). The actors even sang the whole OST themselves! You know, I really love it when actors sing. Maybe I'm too biased but I seriously love this OST. The reason could be that it has a special genre in the world of Korean OST - rock/indie which is quite rare. The songs have nice, meaningful lyrics and upbeat tempos. Shut Up Flower Boy Band's OST is something that you can listen to every day, whenever and wherever you are.

I linked my two favourite songs by Sung Joon: "Jaywalking" and "Wake Up."

Other great songs from the OST: Lee Min Ki's "Not in Love," and Kim Myung Soo (L) & Kim Ye Rim's "Love U Like U."

That's it. I hope you found at least one song that you liked. lol

PS: The OSTs you will most likely miss after reading this list are the To The Beautiful You OST's "Stand Up" by J-min and The Moon that Embraces the Sun OST's "Back in Time" by Lyn. I know they are awesome too, but then the list would be seriously too long...So, sorry about that. ;)

What do you think? Does my list make any sense for you? Which OSTs were your most listened ones in 2012?
