Eye for an Eye

This film will leave you laughing uncontrollably for about five minutes after it’s finished. Without exaggeration, this is one of the most arresting and intriguing films I've ever watched. I literally couldn't take my eyes off their actions, the hysterical laughter especially.

Ahn Hyeon Min (Cha Seung Won) is a brilliant schemer with a perfect plan for revenge. To achieve his goals, he impersonates the bilious and troublesome Police Captain Sung Chan Baek (The Legendary Han Seok Kyu). Aware of his impulsive personality and strong pride, Ahn Hyeon Min moves Sung Chan Baek according to his plan. Chan Baek, on the other hand, takes the challenge personally and charges head-on in the battle with Hyeon Min.

Apart from the brilliancy of the production and the plot, the acting of these two leads is superb. The encounters between the two are mesmerising in an insane way. Their smirks and laughter, their conversations and their challenging stares turn into a saga. Don’t know how I survived before this film.

I read some people comparing it to some American films but because I’m not knowledgeable when it comes to those, this film is an experience for me, a brand new and beautiful one.

Kiss Me, Kill Me

This is one of the weirdest and funniest films I've ever watched. If I had read beforehand that it’s similar to Guns and Talks, I would have watched it ages ago. Just my cup of tea.

Hyun-Jun (Shin Hyun Joon) is a quiet and professional contract killer who never fails in his job. He does his job without thinking about it. He goes on living like that until one of his missions fails. The mission states that he should shoot a sleeping man quietly in the heart, but Hyun-Jun finds a young woman instead. She, Jin Young (Kang Hye Jung), is a depressed woman who wants to commit suicide. Without knowing why, Hyun-Jun stops and scolds her. He finds himself worrying about her and coming back again. Jin Young becomes his first mistake and the first step towards a new life.

The film discusses the dark issues of suicide and murder in the most absurd way as if life is not worth it. It shows ‘’criminals’’ and ‘’sick’’ people as the most normal people. Yes, they have their problems and their sufferings but that’s because they're humans. The hilariously out of place and funny scenes are so insanely humorous, I split my sides laughing.

Open City

It’s a Kim Myung Min film, period. I should end the reasons why you should watch it here, I guess!!

Jo Dae-Young (The Immortal Kim Myung Min) is a fierce detective who loses his temper easily and badly punishes the bad guys for that. He takes charge of any case unless it’s a pickpocketing case because of his bad memories related to it. A huge pickpocketing gang starts operating in Korea and Detective Dae-Young finds himself in control. He unintentionally gets involved with the gang’s boss Baek Jang-Mi (Son Ye Jin). The case gets more complicated and what he fears happens.

I’ve been watching so many action films lately, I'm afraid I've picked up some bad habits. The film casts light on the underworld of pickpocketing in a merciless, realistic way. The pickpocketing and fighting scenes are so well-done, it’s crazy. Son Ye Jin is so hot and charismatic here and… Kim Myung Min is just...himself - the best.
