*Caution: This story involves Yaoi (Male on Male Romance). If that offends you, I'd highly recommend not reading the article.

If I were a drama writer, I’d write a love story about an actor and his stylist. I’ve thought about this for a long time and as time passed, the idea pretty much snowballed in my mind and now it’s time to share!

On to our main leads!

Joo Won as our actor...

and

Yoo Ah In as our stylist!

More on their specific roles later, but I’ll tell you why I chose these two as our main leads. Aside from the fact that I think they’re both brilliant actors, a while back, I went in search of a certain video from the 2015 SBS drama awards. That video was of Yoo Ah In’s top excellence speech.

I had to watch it simply because I’d heard that Yoo Ah In had pretty much given one of the best speeches ever at an awards ceremony. I definitely hadn’t heard wrong. I mean, the man pretty much put on a performance as he went through like fifty different facial expressions.

After I checked out Yoo Ah In’s speech, I decided to check out Joo Won’s daesang acceptance speech, because how could I not? He’s one of my favorite actors!

So I’m watching his speech, and watching him get all teary eyed talking about his grandma and whatnot, then the camera shows reactions from the audience and the camera lands on… Yoo Ah In of course! (This happens around 4:40 if you’d like to see for yourself) I saw him sitting there smiling with bright eyes, and Ah In’s only shown for like two seconds, but my fangirl mind didn’t even need that long. The cogs started turning, Joo Won and Yoo Ah In have been shipped, and now they’re starring in my fantasy drama. I could see this small clip as a great scene at the end of the drama when after dealing with all of their issues, both together and separately, Joo Won wins his first award as an actor, and Yoo Ah In sits in the audience as he proudly watches his boyfriend.

Now let’s talk about their characters a little more shall we?

Joo Won is actor who’s barely made a dent in the industry.  He’s had a few roles in short films and played a couple of small insignificant characters in dramas, but nothing has really worked out until recently. He signs on under a new company that helps him get better roles. Slowly, he starts making a name for himself, and before he knows it, he actually becomes popular enough to get invited to awards shows. Unfortunately for him, his taste in fashion is terrible and he’s landed on the worst dressed list several times. His company informs him that he should learn to keep up his appearance if he doesn’t want to be known as that one actor who always shows up on the red carpet dressed like an idiot. In search of a stylist, he happens to bump into an old classmate, Ah In. He hires him and of course, falls in love with him as well. Now, Joo Won will have to deal with falling in love, cementing his career, and coming out.

Yoo Ah In is a freelance celebrity stylist, except he doesn’t actually have any celebrities to style. Not because he’s not good at what he does, but because no one wants to work with an alcoholic stylist. Ah In loses job after job, but he won’t change his habits, because he most certainly, absolutely is not an alcoholic. Living with his homophobic father, after the death of his mother would drive anyone to drink some times. While Ah In’s down and out, Joo Won offers him a job to help him get back on his feet. Ah In refuses at first, because he doesn’t need handouts, but he definitely could use the experience and the money. Throughout the drama Yoo Ah In will deal with recovering from alcoholism, picking his career up from the ground, figuring out his relationship with his father, and falling in love with Joo Won.

Now on to our second leads!

Oh Yeon Seo will play Joo Won’s best friend and manager. She’ll be his confidant and she’ll be in charge of handling different aspects of his career, but her main story will be her loveline. She’ll play a character like her character in Please Come Back, Mister, but a lot less brash and a lot less ahjussi-like. She’s quite classy and sexy, but doesn’t date often due to her busy job and the fact that a lot of men don’t like her dating style. She prefers to take charge in the relationship and be the pursuer. She loves asking guys out, paying for dates, and opening car doors. She’s the perfect gentlewoman. She’ll fall in love with…

Ryu Deok Hwan, the timid barista/coffee shop owner and friend of Ah In. He’s in charge of supplying a hungover Ah In with tons of coffee and tons of unsolicited advice. Deok Hwan’s never had much luck with women before. The one’s he’s attempted to pursue weren’t fond of his height or his timid personality, but Yeon Seo comes along and is determined to make him hers.

Yeon Seo’s and Deok Hwan’s relationship will center around the reversal of traditional gender roles with Yeon Seo being the more masculine of the two and Deok Hwan being the more feminine. They’ll have to deal with falling in love with each other and overturning narrow ideas of what women and men should be.

What do you think? Would you watch?
