MEGA UGLY KDRAMA SWEATERS!
K-Drama Stylists for one reason or another seem to have a warehouse of
these sweaters, that would definitely be winners at ‘ugly sweater parties’ in certain parts of the world but maybe not so much on screen.
However, time and time again; from drama opening themes, to the main cast, supporting and side characters of various character social statuses at one point they seem to rock an atrociously ugly sweater!
Is it to make the character endearing? Down to earth and approachably sweet in the eyes of the leads, family members etc? Or prove that they really have no sense of fashion?
This has often boggled my mind, as I am intrigued by a lot of the contemporary styling and k-fashion we see in dramas. But then the sudden change of a regular garment into bam!!! Ugly sweater! It makes me ponder those very questions.
I decided to hit my local thrift shop in search of the perfect ugly kdrama inspired sweater. Something to get cozy in while I marathon Dramas through the seasonal winter break. Taking the styling choices I’ve seen on screen into consideration, this one caught my eye. And seemed like something a stylist would dress a character in.
Surprisingly enough when I checked the tag for sizing and material. Low and behold this gem was ‘Made in Korea’.
To test it out, Cosplayer M Lum, decided to sport it for a few photos. This sweater looks like it could be drama-worthy.
One of the most notoriously known dramas for the motherload of ugly sweater line up has to be...
Heirs!
But here are some other shout outs!
Cheese in the Trap
Our Gap Soon
Goblin
