Chae Jong Hyeop will possibly star in another romance K-drama.
On September 23, media outlets reported that Chae Jong Hyeop had been picked to lead the upcoming K-drama Shining. Chae Jong Hyeop's side hasn't responded to the casting reports.
If Chae Jong Hyeop confirms his appearance, this will be his follow-up work after the 2024 romantic comedy K-drama Serendipity's Embrace with Kim So Hyun.
The actor has been making waves in the K-drama scene with his consecutive romantic roles. He also achieved Hallyu stardom after starring in the successful Japanese series Eye Love You.
Chae Jong Hyeop started his acting career in 2016. He is known for being part of the K-dramas Castaway Diva, Unlock My Boss, Love All Play, The Witch's Diner, Sisyphus: The Myth, Hot Stove League, and more.
Next year, the actor will also join the entertainment program Chef of the South Pole alongside Baek Jong Won and Im Soo Hyang.
Shining will tell the romantic story of ex-lovers who reunite 10 years after their breakup. The story will showcase a couple in their thirties reuniting after breaking up in their twenties. The breakup occurred after the man lost his parents in a traffic accident.
The upcoming K-drama will be the collaboration work of director Kim Yoon Jin (Tell Me That You Love Me and Our Beloved Summer) and writer Lee Sook Yun (A Piece of Your Mind and Tune in for Love).
Chae Jong Hyeop will reportedly play the role of Yeon Tae Oh. He is an engineer in the series. After the tragic loss of his parents and his brother's injury, his quiet life in a small town was forever changed. A decade after ending their relationship at the age of 20, he is set to reconnect with his ex. The reunion is expected to showcase his lingering feelings of loneliness and regret.
Shining will reportedly begin filming after the casting is finalized. There is no confirmation yet on where and when the K-drama will be broadcast.
