Introduction

Meet the two fearless men willing to go to extreme lengths in their pursuit of a serial killer that has shaken up their quiet city:

Lee Dong Sik, a once capable detective, is now demoted to performing menial tasks at the Manyang Police Substation. He was just beginning to settle into a peaceful life when his new superior, Detective Han Joo Won, is transferred in.

Joo Won is an elite detective whose father is the star candidate for the National Police Agency’s next chief. Despite his admirable qualities and high social standing, Joo Won harbors a long-held secret.
When a string of gruesome killings occurs, a pattern takes shape that is oddly reminiscent of some cold serial murder cases from 20 years prior. Dong Sik and Joo Won team up, vowing to stop this vicious culprit in his tracks. As their investigation proceeds, they are forced to look far deeper than what the evidence suggests, questioning the culpability of all those surrounding the case, including their own.

Characters

Shin Ha Kyun as Lee Dong Shik

Lee Dong Shik is a detective who was once suspected of his sister's murder and kidnapping case. He is a capable detective but was demoted due to one incident in a previous case and now happens to work in Manyang Police Substation.

His character has dark shades which confuse us regarding his true self. His actions are always unpredictable, we never know what will happen next. But being unpredictable doesn't mean he isn't good at his work. His character has many layers which makes us suspicious about him. In one scene you can see him badly hurt, crying, but then giving a creepy smile in the emotional moment. But he is always ready to do anything for his loved ones. I think the reason for his kind of strange character might be the tough life he had. So far, he isn't the perfect lead but I love his character and we are still exploring it.

Talking about Shin Ha Kyun, he absolutely did a great job portraying Dong Shik. The emotions and sentiments are executed perfectly. So hat off for his acting. He just nailed it.
Yeo Jin Goo as Han Joo Won

Han Joo Won is a newly transferred detective in Manyang Police Substation. With his father being the Deputy Chief of the National Police Agency, he has an elite background. But he also has many secrets. Having such a good background and also attending a great college, his transfer into such a small town is suspicious and has a reason behind it.

Talking about his personality... let me tell you here, we aren't getting perfect leads, they each have flaws and cons in them. Though he is stubborn, he does follow his own principles. There are also many layers in this character we are still exploring.
Yeo Jin Goo's acting is amazing in this drama; for me, it's the best of all the dramas he did before. It's really great to see him in a different character having various shades.
Kim Shin Rok as Oh Ji Hwa  Nam Yoon Su as Oh Ji Hoon
Choi Dae Hoon as Park Jung JeChoi Sung Eun as Yoo Jae Yi

Original Soundtrack

The Night by Choi Beck Ho
Timeless by BIBI
The Road by Sunwoo Jung-a

Its beautiful songs with different touches and feelings are a perfect fit for the drama. I loved The Night especially, it's my favorite among these.

Not just the OSTs but the background sound effects are great. Though sometimes you feel like wait... what? This is an intense/emotional scene and the background music is totally different?! But that's one of the special things about this drama!

Personal Opinion

You might have seen me spamming about this drama on the feeds, so yes, I'm loving it! For me, it's the perfect definition of the thriller genre. The twists and surprises we get at the end of every episode are the favorite things for me though, they keep me wanting to watch more episodes and waiting for a whole week to get the answer, still leaving many questions unanswered after every episode.

The unpredictable-ness is this drama's specialty and 'Never Trust Anyone' its motto. Having every character be suspicious, you wonder every time who might be the killer and what could be the reason. At one point you thought you are going in the right direction... but you never know what can happen next.

It also has beautiful cinematography, sharing this beautiful shot from the 2nd episode.

It's very well written and well-executed, the surprises are unpredictable and left us shook. Nothing is draggy and no unnecessary events happened till the 10th episode... so it's going on the right track now. It's the drama that keeps you on the edge of your seat wanting more episodes. Eager to know the mystery - What happened? And why?

The chemistry between the main leads is amazing. Better than Female and Male Lead from many other dramas. I know these are different things which can't be compared but this is what I think. I'm loving the tension between them! This pair is the best part of the drama.

I'm loving every aspect of this and haven't found any plot holes yet. Fully satisfied with the great acting. Still have no idea about what's going to happen next. Who is the one behind all of it?

I can conclude Beyond Evil is the full package of a mystery, thriller, suspense drama that never stops shocking you with its twists and turns. I'm excited to see what's going to happen next.

Oops, I forgot to mention... yup, we have some creepy smiles here. ;D

So if you like thriller dramas, give it try, you won't regret it for sure!
