Song Seung Heon and Team are Debonair Swindlers in "Player Season 2"
The upcoming mystery thriller Lies Hidden in My Garden unveiled stills of Im Ji Yeon, who plays the role of Choo Sang Eun, a victim of domestic violence yearning to escape her bleak reality.
The actress takes on a heavy role in the drama, which is completely different from the character she played in her previous series.
Reflecting on her decision to join Lies Hidden in My Garden, Im Ji Yeon expressed, "I fell in love with the original novel and the script. Even if I weren't assigned the role of Sang Eun, I would have still chosen to be a part of it. The common ground shared by the two women resonated with me, and as an actress, I wanted to delve into the lives of such women. Reading the script, I found myself increasingly curious and drawn to the unfolding narrative".
Playing a character that is visually and temperamentally different from her previous work, Im Ji Yeon commented, "The character felt like someone I yearned to portray after reading the script. Rather than finding it challenging to immerse myself in the role, I viewed it as an exciting new challenge as an actress. It was a project I had chosen before my previous drama was released, and coincidentally, two contrasting characters appeared consecutively. Rather than wanting to let go of my previous character, I was excited about being able to show viewers a new side of me".
She further added, "I aimed to embody the raw charisma of Sang Eun. This woman, devoid of color and emotion, is the epitome of detachment and emptiness. I even decided to appear in front of the camera without makeup, presenting my natural self. While the character of Sang Eun in the original novel is slightly different from the script, I endeavored to infuse the role with a distinctive Im Ji Yeon touch, offering fresh ideas. Despite the challenges of portraying suppressed emotions and the darkness within, I found it both challenging and intriguing to witness the struggles of a victim, desperately yearning to break free".
On working with Kim Tae Hee, Im Ji Yeon expressed her delight, saying, "It was a fantastic experience to share the screen with Tae Hee Unni for the first time. I had always wished for an opportunity to work together, and I was thrilled when I heard the news. Unni treated me with the utmost warmth, and our chemistry was exceptional, enabling me to effectively portray Sang Eun. I hope our "perfect chemistry" will elevate expectations for what we can achieve together."
Finally, Im Ji Yeon shared her insights on the K-drama stating, "It is an enthralling suspense thriller about two women leading completely different lives. If you pay attention to what will happen to Sang Eun and Joo Ran and watch their stories, I think you will be able to truly appreciate Lies Hidden in My Garden".
