Japanese horror movie titled "Kinjirareta Asobi (aka The Forbidden Play)" starring Hashimoto Kanna and Shigeoka Daiki from Johnny's WEST, has unveiled a teaser trailer.
The movie is based on the award-winning horror novel of the same name by Karma Shimizu, and it is directed by Hideo Nakata, who has previously directed popular horror films such as Ring. This is the first horror movie produced by Taka Hirano, who previously produced the "Stolen Identity" series, and it marks his second collaboration with Nakata after two years.
In the movie, Hashimoto plays a video director named Hirono Kurazawa, and Shigeoka plays her former colleague named Naoto Ihara. The teaser trailer begins with a cute and homely narration and shows Ihara's son, Haruto, chanting a spell meant to bring back a loved one. However, the spell starts to have unexpected consequences, and the teaser ends with a shocking scene.
The role of Haruto is played by Minato Masaki, who previously appeared in a mini-drama with Shigeoka.
Despite not yet being completed, the movie has already received distribution offers from more than 40 countries, including Spanish-speaking countries, Southeast Asia, and Central and South America. "Forbidden Play" is set to be released in Japan on September 8th, 2023.
