tvN's new weekend drama Jeong Nyeon has confirmed its premiere date for October 12 and unveiled its first two posters.
Jeong Nyeon tells the story of Yoon Jeong Nyeon, a girl with a talent for singing who strives to become the best gugak actor. The K-drama is set against the backdrop of the immediate aftermath of the Korean War in the 1950s, an era characterized by poverty.
Based on the webtoon of the same name by Seo I Re and Namon, Jeong Nyeon explores the concept of women's gugak (a type of traditional Korean opera that gained great popularity around the Korean War in the 1950s, where all roles are played by women). The two posters depict the five main characters who will shine in the Maeran Women's National Theater.
Kim Tae Ri transforms into Yoon Jeong Nyeon, a born genius of voice who comes to Seoul all alone from Mokpo to become a theater actress on the national stage.
Shin Ye Eun plays Heo Young Seo, a character with solid skills in singing, dancing, and acting, combined with her family background, which makes her a rival of Yoon Jeong Nyeon.
Ra Mi Ran plays as Maeran Women's National Theater's leader Kang So Bok. Jung Eun Chae comes as Moon Ok Kyung, a member of Women's National Theater, and Kim Yoon Hye as Princess Seo Hye Rang.Jeong Nyeon is scheduled to premiere on October 12.
