Kim Jung Young confirmed to appear in "The Midnight Romance in Hagwon"
Jung Eun Chae will reportedly be joining the webtoon-based K-drama Jeong Nyeon.
The media outlet Star News reported on August 9th that Jung Eun Chae will be replacing Kim Hi Eo Ra who recently announced that she is stepping down from Jeong Nyeon.
Jung Eun Chae's agency KeyEast responded to the reports. According to the company, "Jung Eun Chae did receive the offer to star in Jeong Nyeon. She is currently in the reviewing stage and nothing has been decided yet."
If Jung Eun Chae officially accepted the offer, this will be her first K-drama for 2023. She was last seen in the 2022 Coupang Play original K-drama Anna together with miss A's Bae Suzy, Kim Joon Han, Park Ye Young, Heo Hyung Kyu, and Kang Shin Chul.
This year, the actress starred in the film Maybe We Broke Up with Lee Dong Hwi, Kang Gil Woo, and Jung Da Eun.
Jung Eun Chae made her acting debut in the 2010 movie Haunters. Since then, she has starred in various K-dramas and films.
She is known for being part of the works Pachinko, The King: Eternal Monarch, The Guest, Dr. Frost, The Great Battle, The King, The Fatal Encounter, and more.
Jeong Nyeon will be a star-studded K-drama led by Kim Tae Ri, Shin Ye Eun, Moon So Ri, Ra Mi Ran, and Kim Yoon Hye.
The K-drama will base its story on a hit webtoon of the same name created by Seo Irae and Namon. The story will revolve around the Mokpo girl named Yoon Jeong Nyeon from the 1950s who was born with no money or education. It will reveal her journey as she enters the women's traditional theater company to achieve her goal of becoming rich.
The upcoming K-drama will be the collaboration work of hitmakers director Jung Ji In (The Red Sleeve) and writer Choi Hyo Bi (A Time Called You and Babysitter).
There are no details yet on the character that Jung Eun Chae will possibly portray.
Meanwhile, reports stated that the production of Jeong Nyeon already began the filming test last week.
