The upcoming Netflix original political drama series, The Whirlwind, has confirmed its premiere date for June 28.
The Whirlwind centers around the power struggle between the prime minister, who decides to assassinate the president to uproot the corrupt power, and a deputy prime minister of economy, who aims to thwart him and seize power for herself.
The posters feature the fallen president and the intense standoff between Prime Minister Park Dong Ho (Sol Kyung Gu) and Deputy Prime Minister Jung Soo Jin (Kim Hee Ae). The two are depicted standing face-to-face, suggesting a fierce political battle.
The text "That Day, The President's Heart Stopped" coupled with the image of the fallen president heightens curiosity about the events that led to this moment.
The teaser opens with showing the president collapsing, followed by a shocking confession from Park Dong Ho, "I assassinated the president." Driven by his convictions, Prime Minister Park crossed the line and did the unthinkable. But he doesn't stop here. He says, "And there are no limits for those who cross it," hinting the president's assassination is just a part of a much bigger plan.
On the other hand, his opponent, Jung Soo Jin, is equally fierce, and willing to do anything for greater power. She says, "In politics, power is superior to morals."
The teaser also showcases Park Dong Ho planning a takeover of the National Intelligence Service, the prosecution, and the police, and his plans to dig into the president's son and catch Jung Soo Jin and the Daejin Group, for all of which he asks one month. One month to turn the world upside down.
The Whirlwind will be available exclusively on Netflix starting June 28. Watch the teaser here.
