"Uncle Samsik" Drops Tiffany Young's Stills
Netflix series Chicken Nugget unveiled character stills of Ryu Seung Ryong and Ahn Jae Hong.
Chicken Nugget is a mystery comedy drama about Choi Seon Man (Ryu Seung Ryong), a father trying to bring back his daughter Choi Min Ah (Kim You Jung), who has mysteriously turned into a chicken nugget after she entered a strange machine.
The stills raise intrigue. Ryu Seung Ryong plays the role of Choi Seon Man, a father protecting what appears to be his daughter, Choi Min Ah, who has transformed into a chicken nugget.
The actor comments, "Even though my daughter [in the drama] turned into a chicken nugget, I immersed myself [into the character to believe] the fact that the chicken nugget was my [actual] daughter."
He also said, "When acting in the comedy genre, I go beyond imagination and stereotypes, pursuing the unexpected, and I think a lot of that has been incorporated into this work."
Ahn Jae Hong, who plays Ko Baek Joong, remarked, "It got to the point where I thought, 'Did they draw him [the character] looking at me?'" Even the eyebrow shape is similar. "It felt like destiny," he said.
The actor also said he put in a lot of effort to portray his character, which prompted him to learn dance moves from choreographer Aiki to learn dance and seek assistance from music director Park Sang Woo.
Both the lead actors, Ryu Seung Ryong and Ahn Jae Hong, expressed their trust in director Lee Byung Hun. Ryu Seung Ryong mentioned, "Director Lee Byung Hun has a sense of seriousness within whimsy, and whimsy within seriousness. He has a charm that leaves a deep lingering feeling in his laughter and gives empathy." He added, "Now, just by looking at his eyes, I feel like I understand his heart."
Ahn Jae Hong said, "We understand each other well, even without many words." He continued, "I think director Lee Byung Hun is the only one who can create this worldview."
Chicken Nugget will premiere on March 15, exclusively on Netflix.
