Upcoming drama "Island: Season 1" confirms its lineup!

The main leads for the upcoming tvN drama "Island: Season 1" are now confirmed!

On September 28th it was revealed that Kim Nam Gil, Lee Da Hee, ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo, and Sung Joon will lead the upcoming fantasy thriller drama titled "Island: Season 1." The drama will be the collaboration work of director Bae Jong ("Fabricated City") and writer Jang Yoon Mi ("Cheer Up, Mr. Lee").

"Island: Season 1" will introduce a Korean-style hero. The drama will be based on the Naver webtoon of the same name by writers Yoon In Wan and Yang Kyung Il. It is set on an island and will narrate the story of the characters that are bound to fight against the evil who's trying to destroy the world.

Kim Nam Gil will bring life to the role of Van, a person destined to protect the world. Lee Da Hee will portray the role of Won Mi Ho, the only daughter, and heiress of the Daehan Group who got relocated to the island to work as a high school ethics teacher. ASTRO's Cha Eun Woo will take on the role of a hip Catholic exorcist named John/Kang Chan Hyuk. Lastly, Sung Joon will play the role of Gung Tan. He was raised as a slayer to defeat evil.

"Island: Season 1" will begin its filming this October and the drama will reportedly air during the first half of 2022.

After three years, Kim Nam Gil will finally return to the small screen with "Island: Season 1." He last starred in the hit 2019 drama "The Fiery Priest." The actor will also appear in the upcoming dramas "Through the Darkness," "The Fiery Priest 2," "Thief," and more. 

This drama will be Lee Da Hee's next project after the 2021 tvN series "L.U.C.A.: The Beginning" along with Kim Rae Won, Kim Sung Oh, Kim Sang Ho, Jung Da Eun, Park Hyuk Kwon, and more. The actress is also set to host the upcoming dating program "Solo Hell."

This drama will be one of the upcoming dramas of Cha Eun Woo. Aside from "Island: Season 1," the idol-actor will reportedly lead the series "Sweet and Sour Chicken." He was also cast in the upcoming movie "Decibel" together with Kim Rae Won and Lee Jong Suk. 

Meanwhile, this will be Sung Joon's grand comeback to the small screen since he got discharged from the military. The actor last starred in the Olleh TV web series "2021 Summer Drama Collage: Monster Mansion" this year. He last starred on a network drama in 2017 with the series "Ms. Perfect."
