I still like this version for what it is : simple, cute, and easy to watch ( no tearjercker )

Yes, if someone asked me to suggest a new k-drama that is easy to digest and could be binged without being very annoyed, I would suggest this one too, but this is probably not on the top of the list.

I just felt disappointed that it lost the core essence of the OG drama, that's why this show would be better for people who haven't seen Go Ahead and disappointing to those who have watched it.

But once I decided to ignore the OG story, I kind of enjoyed it since I like all of these up-and-coming actors.
Especially, Jung Chaeyeon, she improved a lot since the last time I've seen her.

 Kammiya:

I wasn't implying all K-drama are bad. Just that lately it seems popular actor=good drama because regardless if the drama is good or bad, the fans will hype it and support it.

I do think this year has been not that good for K-dramas. Lovely runner which is the most popular drama of the year was okey-ish at best. Queen of tears has great production, great actors but the story was lacking.

I think they are doing better procedural dramas than romantic ones.

Ok no worries. I know you didn't imply that. You have always been reasonable and thoughtful and wise.

I agree with you, the fandoms are artificially up voting ratings, so some average dramas are among the most  popular. But this also happens for chinese dramas.

Procedural dramas, I am very picky on that genre. This year I dont remember something  very good. The last good for me was "extraordinary attorney woo" and "divorce attorney shin"

 Kammiya:
standards are so low for K-drama lovers

thats' exactly what i think, with mediocre cringe dramas like crash landing, my mister, mr sunshine, my demon, lovely runner...  they are satisfied with monstruous plastic face ( lovely runner ML and his mouth resembling a shark is an example, i was almost scared all the time with his orrendous smile) and romance, no depth they can't stand it.
I can understand they want to crush their brain and stop it, but this doesn't allow a real possibility for dialogues, if they limit themselves to actors and tomance

From this year I liked Good partner.

General fandom in china can be quite toxic but at least I think douban scores are less affected to fan hyping.

it depends, they downvote there too

"Good partner." yes I noticed it, but procrastinated it.  Chinese fandom are sometimes scary.

I'm no expert but from what I've seen they tend to score on the low side for modern dramas and there's more hype for historical/xianxia. I feel they are much harsher in general than here.

Watched it by chance but really enjoyed it. I mean it doesn't blow my mind but from this year, it stands up.

OK thank  you, I will give it a try.

not totally true, a lot of modern dramas are hyped and not downvoted.  They are harsher but it's not that they can't limit antis.  And yes, i am an expert..

was comparing to original Go Ahead. Most of drama I though its about grade worse ... like 8.5/10 meanwhile Go ahead is like 9/10.
At the end of drama I would grade both as 9/10
Family by choice version did much better at romance side in second part of drama for every character. Which was weakness of Go ahead.
 ------------
Go ahead did much better at building family relationship and wholesome moments in first half of drama.
---------
Forgot to add Family by Choice got more eyecandy and likeable young actors. As for fathers and mothers I liked more Go Ahead.

what? can't believe it...  how is it possible to see romance in this trash adaptation when they are completely strangers? blind people liking u***ly actors and not eyecandy Chinese ones. Cringe.

Lol you think GO ahead had good romance story? Most comments in go ahead are about how weird it feels when second brother out of nowhere started love FL. And oldest brother love? Even though they gived him at least some prep work it felt weird.

In Family by choice its not that way. May be caused though by how in Go Ahead  they created much stronger family bond than in Family by choice in first half of drama.
----------
as for actors I personally look out just for female actors and  Jung Chae Yeon  is for me prettier than Tan Song Yun.  Seo Ji Hye  was hella cute too, but dont even remember if that role had some counterpart in Go Ahead or they just added that role for second brother to get rid of awkward relationship he had in Go Ahead

Get a life please. we get it, you love the original and hate on anything else, thank you for your time and consistent efforts on hating on an  actually nice and interesting drama

I know right! I was so grateful that they didn't push the romance between park dal (jihye) and sanha (inyoup) like they did with Qi Mingyue and Ling Xiao and still gave us buildup and romance for dal-haejun
