But does anyone know how they come up with the compatibility? I just look at some ones list it said we had 90% similarity but we've only watched 12 of the same anime

No idea, but I think it works decently well for me. I have rarely seen anyone come close to 80% w/ me

They see your list and other person's list and when they found any anime/manga both of you have watched/read, they compare the score both of you give, the closest the score both of you give, it will increase your compatibility... I think it's like that :P

when we getting this in MDL?

at least an average score so i dont have to use excel anymore :p
