In "Lost You forever" I was Team Xiang Liu too. I was amazed to see a story where the Male Lead was treated as a supporting cast by the writer. Unfortunately I never read the novel. I only watched the drama this year. Tan JianCi blew me away with is rendition. He only had 7% screentime on S1 and 14% screentime on S2. But he outshined all the other Male Leads. 

Have seen much praise for TJC in Lost You Forever - must put on watch list.

This is simple. If they had managed to put the same sexual tension Xiang Liu had with Xiao Yao everytime they met in "kill me, love me". The drama would have been drastically different. Let's talk about it after you watch "Lost you forever"

Tan JianCi was AMAZING. When I first read the novel, I thought no actor could portray this red flag character and MAKE him as beautiful as he became in the story. Because most actors (to me) were mostly into one-note acting, meaning too damn cold or too soft and Beta.

Tan JianCi became Xiang Liu. His mannerisms, the way he moved and gazed at people, his facial expression...I was mesmerized by his acting. Then, he got me to absolutely become his fan when he showed up in his human form, Fang Feng Bei. He was entirely a different character, full of teasing humor and self-mockery, and yet, with a sudden blink of his eyes, he projected Xiang Liu again behind that smiling demeanor. So much to praise about TJC's acting.

But, back to the character. Xiang Liu started as a red flag too, but the author and drama director did an excellent job with background info conveyed to the audience. We knew what Xiang Liu was about and we actually got sympathize with him. His love for Xiao Yao was just as sacrificial and emotionally heartbreaking to watch, yet we were NEVER left questioning about changes in his character at all.  His moments of happiness with Xiao Yao was always tampered by his knowledge that it wouldn't last, and every happy action had a tension beneath it, making us cry for him. And in the end, we just bawl our eyes out because he was the ONLY character in that drama who was worth crying for, really.

Ahhhh, to compare MRJH's Mad Hatter moments with Xiang Liu--wouldn't that be another fun post to those who love Xiang Liu and also enjoyed the Mad Hatter/Heathcliff persona of MRJH?!

Then I went on the KMLM drama and comments page and saw the rating plummet.  People are rioting.

If they tried to mimic SYR from "The Double" with YQ in "Kill me, Love Me", their attempt was a failure. Because , although XiyanGreenTeaPrince was a conflicted character. He was not as tormented as SYR. 

Where was the suffering for love?  XiyanGreenTeaPrince only longed for love, but never to the point of madness. (he might have in the deleted scenes though).

Where was the helplessness to escape a dire situation?  XiyanGreenTeaPrince cornered himself  in a life threatening situation. He could have avoided being trapped in the "Sun of kunlun" impersonification and still find a way to send people  to harvest the "Snow dragon whisker flower" to save Mei Lin. But he wanted to force her into marrying him. So I could not empathize with him.

XiyanGreenTeaPrince never had those 2 key features. So, I personally never pitied him. I was always distrustful of him and I was waiting for his metamorphosis in a pure villain.

Comparing them : XiyanGreenTeaPrince could never reach the level of complexity of Xiang Liu :)

That ending hurts. Wonderful portrayals by the two leads. I’m finding it hard to go to the main discussion page because of all the bashing the drama is getting. There are some people expressing their disappointment but still making sense, but some are just coming across as trolls. @unbeliebubble I appreciate your comeback to the BWJ  fans - support the drama if you want to support your fave. duh!

Many are saying the Xiyan arc isn’t necessary and doesn’t make sense.  @TaliaToo you said the war was coming way before the demise of the CP.  There are two main villains. The drama had already started moving these pieces in place but as we have said before it’s just not stitching them as well as it should.

Some are just having fun being snarky, like me.  For myself, if I hadn't found the drama entertaining and well-done (in spite of the flaws), I wouldn't have stayed on and talked about it so much. It's precisely because I invested so much emotionally and mentally that I'm here--the drama had great things, e.g. the acting of both leads really suited the characters, don't you agree? I can't think of another who could do the MRJH Mad Hatter in such a sexy way, LOL, or an assassin as smart as WJY's portrayal.

Like you I find it hard to go to the comment section. Despite it flaws, I cannot forget hat this drama captivated me, and I feel annoyed when I see the way some people are trashing it for the sake of defending there favourite artist. Moreover, what is it exactly that people want ? Watching a S+ BDSM drama ?  Those people are just delusional. This is unfair to decrease a rating for such ludicrous reasons. 

This drama was satistfying to my despite it's flaws. There was so much beautiful moments that make me want to rewatch it.

1- The first episode. The meeting of the two.
2-The first scene with Mei Lin-powerful assassin.
3--The opening song (in every episode I had to listen to the song).
4-Jing He's appearance, attitude, words as a prince in the palace. (He was totally a fairy tale prince);
5-The immortal flower analogy (in which Jing He explains to Luo Mei) referring to Mei Lin.
6-The mystery in the painting left by Jing He's mother before she died (and discovered by Mei Lin), which took Jing He away from the path of madness.
7-I liked the sibling rivalry (I found it interesting to watch). Between Morung Jing He and Murong Xuan Li.
8-The scene in the lake of stars (Jing He and Mei Lin);
9-The scene of Jing He and Mei Lin (having hallucinations);
10-The scene of Mei Lin's fight in front of the palace. The spear she throws at the villain (and then she sinks into the lake and Jing He searches for her in the lake and saves her with a kiss at the bottom of the lake);
11-Mei Lin with her method of beating Jing He to sleep;
12-Every time Mei Lin and Jing He throw themselves off the cliff.
13-The place in the forest where Jing He and Mei Lin fight the assassins, they fight as a team;
14-Jing He as a general (every time he wears armor);
15-Luo Mei, the female general (in combat), she even loses an eye in it);
16-Jing He with her unconventional method to fend off Luo Mei's advances.
17-Jing He uses the whip in the cemetery to dig up Mei Lin and does not accept what seemed to have happened.
18-The Romeo and Juliet-type scene (the couple in bed), in the fateful moment that almost happened.
19-Those happy moments in the village, the couple living as peasants (this was in the middle of the drama);
20-Their wedding, the time they spent together.
21-Their meeting in the afterlife;
22-The courage of the soldiers who supported Jing He in all his general scenes;
23-The entire episode 1 (I have to say this again);
24-The first 10 episodes (especially those that kept us hooked), etc.
PS:
25- The couple fighting for survival in the snow (and she giving Jing He strength) to survive;
26- That moment of humiliation of Jing He in front of his beloved, Mei Lin (and she being sensitive and helping him in that moment);
27- The time in the cabin after that, and him confessing to her his emotional pains (the trauma he suffered in the war); "

@TaliaToo - Indeed, XiyanGreenTeaPrince was a great character is this drama. I sense that he had en importance among all the characters. I heard that some of BWJ was cut. That would mean that the writers planned to showcase his madness and cleverness more. But I suppose that 32 episodes did not allow them to freely express their creativity. This is a pity. This character's game was lurking throughout the whole show like a threat to everyone, without them knowing it. He was scary for he had a facade of goodwill when he was in reality so schemy. 

Glad you agree! I will continue to rewatch his scenes so I can write that final post. He will be my "move on" character, ahahaha, because PEARL GIRL BECKONS! And my LuSi takes all precedence!
