I'm not disappointed with KMLM. Before I started watching I made a pact with myself: not to compare it to The Double (which I love) even though it has WJY as the main FL. The Double has its own shape. KMLM too, it’s another world. I don't expect ML to be XFF, I don't expect MJH to be Duke Su, I don't expect CP to be Wanning, I don't expect Yue Qin to be SYR, I don't expect more or less cruelty or romance, I don't expect to find similarities between the plots nor between the revamped plot and the novel. I prepared myself to see something new. If I compare all the time, I won't be able to absorb new stories, with different rhythms, with doses of hate and love perfect for their context, with characters and their moral attire and emotional load in accordance with the plot's proposals. I'm loving every moment of KMLM because I just let its universe flows in me without making comparisons all the time. It would be like taking a trip to Yunnan and comparing it to New York. The key word is 'context'. Do not be prejudiced against Fairy Tales: these ancient tales continue to be a source for universal creation and studies of psychology and behavior. This desire for a happy ending comes from no other source than Fairy Tales. KMLM gains value by drinking from this source. KMLM surprised me because it clearly drank from this source...

When Murong Jing He first appearances on red Amor with mask definitely not liu xue yi. Is stuntman. As you can see the difference on body figure and hand is big. As liu xue yi hand is like a women and too Bai.

  I wonder why they would need a stuntman for that. Doesn't look difficult to ride that horse and I have seen shots of LXY riding real horses before so I am sure he knows how.

When it comes to historical drama, I’ve noticed that, the lesser the kisses and sensuality there is, the more epic the story is and with depth and intensity.

On the contrary, the more kisses there are and bedroom scenes , the lesser the depth and intensity of the story. To even border line mediocrity.

Just an observation.

      Well, these are different perspectives. I think the depth and intensity are shown in a particular way in this drama. All the intensity put in the first few episodes is balanced by the slower pace in the later episodes. This is intentional. It is a bit like imitating real life (sometimes it is something very simple, seemingly without fire or importance), but if you look closely, there is beauty and important meaning being conveyed. Different dramas will arrange the plot at the pace that the writers find appropriate to tell the story. I think there is a purpose here, and the paces will alternate throughout the drama.

I see a lot of people disappointed about the way the show is going and how it seems Mei Lin is not the same assassin that was first introduced. People are disappointed that it seems she has changed and not a "bad azz" assassin anymore. I feel like many have misunderstood her character/who she is as a person.

Here's her character from my understanding:

Firstly, we know Mei Lin is an assassin. But she's an assassin with one goal and one goal only: Assassinate MRJ and avenge her people. She trained for 10 years just for this. We never hear about her assassinating anyone else. She only had one goal. Kill MRJ.

Secondly: She came to fulfill her goal and get revenge. But on this journey, she found proof that MRJ is not the killer of her people. As an assassin, her goal changed: join hands with MRJ, find the real killer and avenge her people. She is doing that currently.

Thirdly: She is currently on her mission for revenge. Yes, she fell in love on the way, but that doesn't mean she gave up revenge. Every steps her and MRJ are taking is for their ultimate revenge.

Back to why I think you've misunderstood her core character: yes, Mei Lin is an assassin. But from episode one, we've also been shown that she's a soft soul. When not being an assassin (or protecting people), she's a very simple person who dreams of a good simple life for herself. Even in her interactions with others, you can see how easy going, straightforward and simple she is. She smiles easily, and enjoys friendships. She cherish those close to her.

Her goal has always been revenge and living a simple life afterwards. Her character has not strayed from her core personality introduced since episode 1. Her character has been consistent. So her falling in love does not mean she's not a "bad azz assassin" anymore.

The Mei Lin you are seeing right now is the Mei Lin she's always been. It's just that, that side of hers was sometimes hidden because she had to shoulder everything herself. Now she doesn't have to because she has someone else to help her with her revenge. So we are seeing her true self (soft soul) more and more. IMO, She is a well rounded character.❤️

We have to judge the show as a whole, as one entity. Not just episode by episode❤️

  I am really happy with the Mei Lin we got. I would have been annoyed with her if she spent most of the episodes trying to kill the wrong person. Also she has constantly used her skills, they wouldn’t have survived the snow without her vigilantly looking out for danger only sleeping when they were safe.

  I have given up understanding why, really. tbh some people just want a drama to fit their expectations and when it doesn't they bail. fair enough. I prefer to take a drama on its own terms and see what they offer. to me I love almost everything about it. I don't care if it strikes my trope fancy - I love that it's such a good production, with good actors (Liu Xueyi is outstanding) and the story pretty tight. is it perfect? of course not, but it's giving me joy.
