Background of martial soul, soul power, soul beast and soul ring in general (for non-anime watcher)

Background from Soul land anime for better understanding of drama:

1st of all, duoluo continent drama is not related to this drama. This is not the 2nd season but a complete new adaptation, and so far quite close to anime ver. (I just watched till ep. 3 only)


martial soul, soul power, soul beast and soul ring in general


  • at age 6 yo, everybody with awaken their martial soul, those with soul power can become a soul master.
  • Tang San has soul power of 100% means he is super talented, those who doesn’t have soul power, will become a normal person
  • When cultivate, every decade, 10, 20, 30 and go on, you have to get the soul rings to continue upgrade cultivation
  • How to get soul ring? By killing soul beast
  • When u reach the level 10 and 20, the soul beast cant be more than 1000 years old . if older, soul master body cannot handle the power it bring... so the 1st soul ring usually is yellow color that indicate the soul beast ages 100 - 999 years old
  • by getting the soul ring from soul beast, human also get the power of soul beast.. for eg. TS 1st soul ring is from phyton, and he place the soul ring into his silver grass martial soul, so his martial soul power has a characteristic of thesoul beast that he killed which is poisonous and also has more duration
  • Usually soul master will select the soul beast that they think is compatible with their martial soul.. like the captain from shrek 7 devil, his martial soul is tiger.. so he will search soul beast that similar characteristic that can add more power to him, he will not choose soul beast like rabbit for example..


  • After reaching level 30, they again will search for soul beast to get the 3rd soul ring... at this stage, usually they get the purple ring - from beast aged 1000 to 9999 yo.. But.. to kill soul beast of this age, usually u need help from elder (stronger soul master) and also need to find soul beast that is suitable to them... 
  • one point - the soul beast has to be killed by the soul master himself for getting the ring.. so elder/supporter will make the beast weak enough for the soul master to kill soul beast and claimed the soul ring.. if other ppl kill the soul beast, you will not get the ring.. and the ring must be absorb at certain time.. if not the ring will just dissapear and wasted


  • Tang San has 4 rings at beginning of this drama means his level is 40++


  • For Tang San, he is special. usually for 4th ring, soul master cannot take rings from 10k - 99k yo beast, their body can't handle it.. they should get the purple ring as well.. But TS is special, his 4th ring is black color. that's why when ppl saw his 4th ring is black, it was a big thing!


  • From inner ring to outer rings:
  • Common soul master     : yellow -> yellow -> purple -> purple -> black
  • Tang San                                 : yellow -> yellow -> purple -> black

  • red color ring is when the soul beast is 100k yo ++


This is if i remember correctly, maybe i miss/mix some info.. anybody can corrected me if I'm wrong.

About Xiao Wu and Soul Beast identity

  • When soul Beast reached the age of 100,000 years, they have 2 choices
  • 1.  To continue soul beast and live for another 900,000 years and every 100,000 years, they have to endure a tribulation in order to keep living, if fail, they will die.
  • 2. To become human and start cultivating anew. Their life time is the same as human. When they reach level 60, high cultivated human (level 90 and above) can no longer see their real identity.
  • When 100k soul beast choose to become human, the process is irreversible. 


  • Xiao Wu was a soft boned rabbit beast who chose to become human. Her human age is same with TS.
  • Human form soul beast do not need to kill other soul beast for the soul ring, they will automatically get the ring when they reach the decade (10, 20, 30 ..) cultivation level.
  • She was chosen by immortality flower (sound something like this) that able to hide her aura, that’s why nobody notice her real identity even tho many high level soul master at the tournament area. (on ep. 1).
  • The flower felled out, making her identity revealed at the end of their tournament, so soul master from martial soul hall want to capture her.
  • Nobody knows about her identity prior to this event except TS. TS knew because of his purple eyes (The power unique to him) but he never tells XW that he knew. But all of them choose to believe and protect XW.


  • Da Ming and Er Ming are soul beast of 100k yo.
  • TS’s mother was also a soul beast (silver blue grass beast) that chose to become human.
  • XW’s mother (also human form beast) was killed by Bi Bi Dong (saintess of martial soul hall) to get the red color rings


  • Soul beast in human form can self-sacrifice and give their red color ring to human.
