Magnoliee:
not everyone is an art student but that some also study another study subject.

I've seen quite a few Thai BLs. You can see who the engineering students are because they have a gear icon on their shirts. In this drama, they're the blue-shirt guys.

 Magnoliee:
where Pheem gets trouble with his lecturer.

This was an optional activity to submit an art work to the gallery so he likely won't be in trouble.

 Magnoliee:
But I missed that no more attention was paid to the fact that the painting was destroyed.

I agree. I don't think Phum realized what he did.

RE: Taikan Yoho

There's this cultural idea is amae in Japanese that's discussed here. It may help in your understanding of the show. We have a similar concept in my culture.

Thank you for this! I'll have to sit down and give it a good read when I get home. There are so many Japanese concepts that just don't translate well across languages.

A lot of things to discuss first of all

Updates & Speculations:

I am so glad I am not the only one who has noticed this recent trend. This would be a dream come true for me because as I have mentioned before I love Chinese authors and their work; I think they are a cut above the rest with their originality and uniqueness. If this is true and these adaptations get done right I am sorry but Thai BLs would have to take second place for me because the BOSS would have just entered the BL arena.

Lets just cross our fingers for THIS TO BE TRUE because THE OGs WOULD BE TAKING CENTRE STAGE YET AGAIN COME THROUGH MAXTUL

LETS HEAR THE FANS CHANT:

MAXTUL!!!!, MAXTUL!!!!, MAXTUL!!!!, MAXTUL!!!!

We Are the series

LOL these characters are a riot, a walking drunk mess, and I love it.

First of all, that kick was personal and Peem asking if it still works is just hilarious.  I am looking forward to Phum and Pheem's story because I love a good enemies to lovers trope. (if that is the appropriate categorisation) I love  the other couples as I have seen them before in previous series and had loved their chemistry. I am especially glad to Winny and Satang back together in another series, I fell in love with them as a couple from their roles in My School President. Phum's brother and Tan's story will be very nice to see as I loved the actors together in their relationship in Hidden Agenda.

It was a wonderful first episode and I am looking forward to the continuation of the series, I can already tell that there will be a lot of laughs along the way and the tension between Phum and Pheem is already strong; good things to look forward to.

 American Fan:
For real, I was also waiting for Pheem to get recognized for his destroyed painting.  I was feeling it to the core (being an artist) and not once was the initial act of the ball hitting the painting ever brought up.

I was so distracted by the familiar couples that I really did not acknowledge that but yes the destruction of the artwork, as it made for Pheem to get a grade and it is a product of his hard work, should have been acknowledged more.

That is so cool, you are an artist. I cannot draw to save my life much less paint. It is truly a blessing to have an artistic talent.

 American Fan:

That'll be great! The more the merrier and all that. I think so far this series seems like a lighter and more easier watch.

This is a perfect watch for me right now. WinnySatang my heart :)

I can't draw either haha, and luckily it's not a requirement to create art, especially if one isn't trying to create realism. I use watercolor, pen ink and/or mixed media.  Whatever happens to flow on any given day. No rules, no judgements.  Just a happy feeling.

Between Ring and Pendant 6/10

oh, I need some of this energy because if I see one more email I am going to scream.

We are :

Only one thing, I personally LOVED the kick.

I remember Pond telling in an interview that, the scene was partically painful to film an he could fell the actual pain haha, I 'd say he deserved it. As a person who can't draw at all, I can feel the amount of time, dedication and hardwork put into it.

ps. The painting looked pretty

MAXTUL!!!!, MAXTUL!!!!, MAXTUL!!!!, MAXTUL!!!!

I would be thrilled if they did Transplant.

I just watched We Are and it was a good first episode but is anyone else confused why it’s on iQIYI instead of YouTube?

Also 16 episodes? Has me shook but it makes me happy because we might h actually get enough screen time for all couples

 American Fan:

TBH, I'm kinda slinking around here with all the talk about Taikan Yoho, cuz I dropped this one after 2 EPS. I didn't rate it. This is one I was looking forward to but actually watching it did nothing for me at all. I remember asking someone if it got better overall. By that I mean less gloomy, more expressive (especially the ML), maybe a little lighter overall.  Less "slave-like". I wasn't given a lot of hope.

It wasn't too hard to let go of since Japanese dramas generally aren't my favorite for several reasons. BLs yes, but I guess not this one. :-(

Should I try it again? Does it get more upbeat and positive?

There is nothing “light” about taikan yoho… and just like most JBLs it is set in really gloomy, dark settings…

But if the thing that triggers you is the slave thing, as you move on to other episodes, you will see it’s really consensual (haha)

It’s just a story about how two men who have a very hard time expressing their love to each other, finally manage to communicate it… it’s very domestic, cute and just really, really lovely overall

But this is just my opinion, so if you don’t feel like watching it, never mind :)

It's on YouTube for some countries and iQIYI for others. Use a VPN to watch on your preferred streaming service.

I have some sad news to share. (Not really but...)

After rewatching Oxygen (most of it anyway) I had to downgrade my rating from an 8 to 7 and take it off my Fav BL list.

There were too many things wrong this time around, for me. Or I've gotten more critical over time. Maybe both.

If you are a big fan of this series you might not want to read my venting comments below. :-)

I didn't like the whole Fujoshi/doctor thing going on. Who in their right mind would impose their opinion of someone else's sexual preferences on them? And all the stupid phone streams and vids of guy pairs in the café. I skipped through most of their scenes.

I hope lightning doesn't strike me, but I have to say Nut's character was stiff and too clingy for my taste. I wasn't feeling a romantic connection between the two MLs. More like Gui was a parent-like figure to Solo, especially when Solo asked for milk throughout the series. Is Gui his surrogate mother or something?  It was irritating. And so was Gui's hairdo.

Anyways I got it all out and rant is over.  haha

Disclaimer: No offense to all the Nut/Oxygen fans out there.
